I just want to take a few minutes and talk to you about the importance of dental management training for all dentists, dental management teams, clinic owners. And even if you are a dentist working at a clinic, and if you do not own the clinic, why it is important that you invest your time and money into learning dental management skills. Well, you all have been attending various clinical programs and you get, you know, all the clinical training so you can offer the best services to your patients. But what about the management aspect of your practice? We all know that the management aspect of a practice is very different than the clinical aspect of a practice. And the reason I can prove that to you is that you can see out there, there are many great clinicians with great hands, but they do not have successful dental offices. On the other hand, there are dentists who are not clinically.
Proficient, or there are even people who are not dentists yet they have successful dental practices. And that is exactly what I want to talk to you about. See if you look at the overall trend of what's happening across the globe, most of the countries are opening up dental.
Clinics to non dentists, meaning that it used to be that only dentists could own and operate the dental clinic. But now more and more countries are allowing non dentists and investor to come in and buy dental clinics and run them. Recently I came across a company that they sold a chain of restaurants to a private equity firm and they took all of the money and started investing into dental offices. Now guess what? These guys, they understand systems and processes. When somebody has 40 restaurants and you know how difficult it is to run and operate the restaurant, they understand about systems and processes, they understand about human resource management.
They are highly capable of creating leaders within their companies.
Now this is why that as dentists, as clinical owners, you need to invest your time and money in understanding dental management principles because otherwise it's going to be very difficult to compete with these guys. I predict over the next five to 10 years, probably about 25% of dental practices will shut down. Now you may say, well, I'm actually going to retire by that time. But my question to you is, would you rather cash out.
Of your company when so much money is pouring into dentistry from outside of dentist resources, from investors, from the outside, rather than just shut down your dental practice.
