Hi, and welcome to How Humans Heal. I'm Dr. Donni Wilson, and today I'm really looking forward to introducing you to my friend and colleague, Dr. Najat Latib, and she is the CEO and founder of Reimagined Health and Fertility. She specializes in helping women who are struggling with fertility to get pregnant and stay pregnant naturally with an 80% success rate. Thank you so much for joining us today, Najat.
Ah, Dr. Donni, it's an honor to be here.
Yay!
I'm so excited to finally have a chance to chat.
Me too. And I'm so excited for women to get to know you and your protocol because you're helping so many women who've been struggling to get pregnant and trying to figure out what are they missing, what are they getting wrong, why isn't it happening for them? And you're helping them to solve these solve the pregnancy issue by solving their root causes. So tell us more, like, first of all, how did you even find your way to this specialty of helping women with fertility?
That's a great question. Well, all of us, I think, in this— how— in this space of health and, and holistic practice all have a story, right? So I'm an ER doc by trade, right? I'm a board-certified ER doctor. So I spent a a large portion of my career in the ER saving lives. And of course, when it was ready to start my family, I had a regular period, I worked out all the time, I ate what I thought was healthy per se, and it just didn't happen. And so I myself became a woman who struggled with infertility, and I was told I had unexplained infertility. I was told my labs were normal. I was told to relax and let it happen. And ultimately what happened was I ended up going down the road, the traditional road we are taught in medical school happens and is the obvious road when you can't get and stay pregnant. You know, if you're below the age of 35, the expectation is you wait a year. If you're above the age of 35, you wait 6 months and then you go ask for help. Well, I was above the age of 35. Um, I didn't get to start my family until later on in life. And so after 6 months of not being able to get pregnant, that's when I got all this workup done and ultimately was pushed down the road of IUI and IVF. So my eldest child was an IUI baby. And then after that, I got really worried and thought, okay, I better start trying quickly because it took me a number of years to have that first child. Did a bunch of IUI rounds, which all failed, and then ended up having to do multiple rounds of IVF. And it was a horrific experience. And I think the take-home point that I want our audience to know and understand is that what I realize now is that had I known now Had I known then what I know now, I didn't need any of those treatments. And so that is the reason that I have really become so passionate about this work. When I made the shift from emergency medicine to functional medicine, I had a concierge practice and I started taking care of couples. You know, inevitably, usually the wife would come first and then she'd be feeling so great that her husband would follow. And it was almost an accident because all of a sudden these couples that I was taking care of who had been struggling with infertility were all of sudden coming in and they're like, Dr. Lateef, I don't know what you did, but we're pregnant. And we failed like 5 rounds of IVF. And we were told that we needed a donor egg. And we were told that this was all impossible. And that's when I started to look at the research and the data and started connecting all the dots and realizing that fertility is not just about reproductive hormones and, you know, and organs. It's about your entire body getting into a state of availability to create life because I believe that our bodies are really smart, right? And so when we're not reproducing, it's not because we're broken or because there's something vitally wrong with us. It's our body's way of trying to get our attention and asking for help. And, um, what I realized over time is that there are so many root causes of infertility that the traditional paradigm completely misses and that we don't even learn about in medical school. Um, and so That, yeah, that's my long-winded answer on how I ended up on this path and why I'm so passionate about it.
Oh, you're giving me goosebumps because it's so beautiful for you to be like, hey, this is what I wish I knew, and now you're sharing it with others to help them, and you're, you're seeing that it works. And, and I completely agree with you because as a naturopathic doctor and midwife, I've seen the same thing over the years. Like, as women get healthier and we address whatever it is in their case that needs attention, all of a sudden they just start getting pregnant and they're like, how did I get pregnant? And I'm like, well, because your ovaries started working again. So let's talk about that some more. Like, what do you find are some of the most common things that is getting missed in fertility cases? Like, what is it? Because you're seeing— right, you're seeing now thousands of cases every year.
Yeah.
Yeah. With, with all of these women that you're helping them with their fertility, what, what are you seeing are the common things that is getting missed?
Well, my list is kind of long. I mean, nothing— there's—
it's not one thing.
No, there's no one-size-fits-all solution, and there's never one reason. I think that's the take-home point, is there are usually multiple reasons and multiple factors for every single couple that comes into my world. Um, I think one of the biggest things that is missed by the fertility paradigm is male factor. Right. I mean, sperm counts are headed to zero by 2045 due to all the factors that are honestly beyond our control, you know, poor food quality, exposure to toxins, and just lack of education, you know. And then I think that what's particularly misleading at the start of anyone's journey is, you know, what are normal lab ranges on your, your, say, your typical LabCorp or Quest. Requisition forms, right? I mean, that normal range is based on the scientific data from a middle-aged white male, which none of my people are middle-aged white males, right? They're all in the reproductive age range. So I always say that those lab ranges don't pertain and are not relevant. And so I have a much narrower lab range that I want my couples to get into to optimize fertility. Thyroid is a really important one. The normal range for thyroid. You probably see this a lot in your practice too. I mean, theoretically, 3.5 or 4 is normal, but if we look at the data and the science and the literature, we know that optimized for fertility, women really need to have a TSH between 1.5 and 2. So, and the list is endless, um, inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, insulin resistance, you know, and a lot of cycle defects. You know, people might be ovulating too early or too late. There may be a luteal phase defect. We're exposed to toxins that mimic hormones like estrogen, for instance, and can lead to estrogen-dominant conditions, right, which then creates a cascade of other effects. And so I think the bottom line is that the body is a complex web, and when we start to shift one part of the spectrum, everything else starts to readjust. So when I work with my couples, we might be tweaking our protocol, you know, every couple of weeks based on what the— our body is telling us. And I also, I think one of the fundamental differences, and I think that you and I have talked about this in the past, is that oftentimes the body gives us signs through symptomology, right? Through something you might be feeling and not necessarily something that we see in the blood or on a lab test. And so I, I look to signs like basal body temperature tracking You can get a lot of information from a temperature chart, an idea if there's some sort of gut imbalance. Dysbiosis and leaky gut are also a big contributor and are actually correlated with infertility on countless studies. So when we start to put together all of these nodes and pieces of the puzzle, it becomes a very complex shifting landscape where, and as my couple's symptoms shift, we find different layers start to be exposed. So So that's kind of the reason that I say there's no one-size-fits-all solution. It's highly personalized, and it's about doing the right things in the right order for your biochemistry, if that makes sense. But so many things are missed, I think, by the traditional paradigm. We're so used to thinking that all we need to look at is a hormone panel. And if you get a positive LH, meaning that a woman is ovulating, everything's normal, right? You should be able to get pregnant.
Absolutely. And it's such a good point that you could go in and get standard blood work done, and then first of all, it might even just be a CBC and metabolic panel that isn't going to give you any— that could easily be normal and not tell you anything about your fertility, let alone getting the right tests done and having you know, someone like you to be able to say, "Hey, let's get the right thyroid test, the right test for your blood sugar and insulin, the right test for your ovaries." Maybe you can share a little bit more about— because I know a lot of women who are working on fertility get kind of caught up in this whole AMH dilemma and what does that mean and what, you know, where to go from there. I know you have some some opinions on that too.
Oh, 100%. So AMH stands for anti-Müllerian hormone, right? So anybody who's watching who doesn't know what it is, in the traditional paradigm, we're taught that that equates very closely to the number of eggs you have left, right? But it doesn't tell us anything about egg quality, right? And the other thing that is a myth, shall I say, in the traditional paradigm is that AMH is a static number, meaning it does not change. And that could not be more untrue. I have found in my practice that we actually can influence AMH in multiple ways by doing all the things that we've talked about. And I've seen AMHs as much as quintuple. So I've had women who come to me with AMHs of 0.1 who are told that no way, no how, you're never going to have a baby without a donor egg and IVF is your only option. And I just look at that and say, I disagree, because I've had many women with AMHs of 0.1, 0.12. I had one at 0.15 recently get pregnant because we were able to get her AMH up close to 1. And it only takes one egg, you know, it only takes one egg. And if we can groom that egg from the time it's in hibernation until when it ovulates, We're good to go, you know. And if we— and if we work on sperm quality at the same time, 1 1 2, you know. And then while we're doing that, we're healing the gut, we're decreasing inflammation, we're purging the body of toxins that are sitting in little pockets causing disruption in our body. And all of a sudden, the body gets into a place of harmony and is able to get and stay pregnant naturally. So AMH, um, is definitely influenceable. Uh, you know, I always say AMH is not the end of the road. It's not a sentence. It's really just the beginning of a journey. And it's a signal. It tells us that we need to do some work. I think the other really, uh, good thing for our audience to understand is that our eggs are— all of us, of course, all of us ladies are born with all the eggs we're ever going to have. In fact, we have all of our eggs in our ovaries when we are a fetus in our mother's womb. So it's wild to think that You know, your grandchildren were actually in your child, your daughter's ovary in your womb. You know, so it's kind of wild and crazy. But anyway, we're all born with all the eggs that we're ever going to have, right? We don't make more eggs. However, our eggs are in hibernation, right? They're in a state of kind of lack of— they're not fully developed. So they sit in the ovary. And then when it's time for us to develop, it's like the body chooses which eggs it's going to develop and then it starts working on them and it takes It's about 90 to 120 days from when they start to develop until when they're ovulated. So what we do in that 90 days prior to ovulation is critical, not just for the health of the egg, but believe it or not, the health of the baby. And I think that's another thing that is really missed by the traditional paradigm. Nobody's talking about epigenetics and genetic expression and how we can actually impact future generations. By doing, you know, focused work in the preconception period. And that focused work doesn't have to be hard. Like, I don't want anyone to think that this is really like crazy stuff. It's really just about changing the way that we're eating in a way that suits our biochemistry. It's about making lifestyle changes. It's about, you know, learning how to lower toxin exposure and purge toxins in our body. It's about getting higher quality of sleep so that DNA and cellular repair can happen at night. And so on, so and so forth. And then, of course, you know, optimizing lipid metabolism and sugar metabolism and decreasing insulin resistance. And of course, I think the other really cool thing for our listeners to, to embrace is that when you do all these things, not only do you put yourself into an optimal state of fertility, but you're actually going to feel like the best you've ever felt in your entire life, and you're getting healthier.
And like,, what's better than that is to be healthier. And the studies that showed that when moms have healed leaky gut, it benefits their child, right? The child then has less likelihood of allergies, or healthier the mom, the healthier the baby and the future generation. So it's like, it's just a win-win all around, isn't it?
Yeah, absolutely. 100%. And if you look at studies on IVF babies, and I can say this because I have IVF babies, IVF babies, if you look at the statistics and the data, they have more health issues. It just is what it is. Just as babies born via C-section have a different gut microbiome than babies born via vaginal delivery, right? It's always advantageous to deliver vaginally. I had all of my kids via C-section, so I can say this, you know, it was really hard for me. I didn't have an option to do it any other way. It was what it was. But I think understanding and going in with your eyes wide open so that you can do all the things on the other end. I mean, it's not like you're going to have a baby via C-section and your baby is ruined. No, it just means like, okay, I've had a baby via C-section instead of via vaginal. It's going to have a different microbiome and there might be some work that we need to do as a child grows up. We're going to make sure that they're eating fermented foods and or addressing it with dietary approaches and food-first approaches rather than just not being aware.
I think that's so powerful for for women that you're coming into it saying, hey, I experienced it the more medicalized route, and that's okay, that's an option. And if you want to try to avoid that, here's how I can help you to, to work toward avoiding that. And no matter what, you're healthier in the process, so you're, you know, more prepared for whatever is going to be happening for you. And the amazing thing to me, which I am excited to share, is that you do your work through a group program. So because I think people might wonder, how's that? You know, people are used to working one-on-one with practitioners. But in your case, you've, you've figured out that you can help women to implement and couples implement your protocol in a group program. So tell us more about that. Like, how does that— what have you found working in a group? And what do you— does it even better than working one-on-one?
That's a great question. I actually have found that my couples in my groups have higher success rates, believe it or not. And I don't think it's a coincidence because if we look at evolution and we look at, you know, how we evolved as human beings, we were meant to do things in communities. We weren't meant to do them in a silo. And the shift that happens in biochemistry when we get a positive pregnancy announcement, when I have a group of women who have been on the journey struggling and they've become really close, it's like it elevates the entire room and And all of a sudden people are realizing, oh my gosh, if she can do it, I can do it. And you know how powerful belief is when it comes to health, right? Us being in a place of belief and possibility is everything. And that's actually where I invite my couples to start. I said, the first thing we need to do is step into a place of belief because belief changes everything, right? I also urge my couples to step away from baby making and step into lovemaking. Right. Because I believe that divine breeds life through love. Right. And so many of us, including myself when I was on the journey, I am no exception to any of this. We get so preoccupied with when am I ovulating? What's my cycle?
And it's so stressful. You're like in this constant trying to force it to happen.
Yeah. And then sex becomes a chore. It doesn't become this beautiful bonding experience between two beautiful people who are trying to grow their family, you know, and, you know, a lot of men get performance anxiety in those situations. And it's just, I don't know, to me, I'm like, let's start with love. Let's start with connection. Let's start, sit in a place of belief. Because once you sit in a place of belief, your parasympathetic system escalates and starts supercharging, right? What happens when our parasympathetics go up? Our inflammation decreases, our sugar metabolism, you know, improves, our our insulin regulation improves, our cortisol production goes down, and we start making our hormones more efficiently. And then when our hormones are being made more efficiently, our thyroid starts functioning. And it's this, this like spiral of positive effects just from getting into a place of belief. It's so simple sometimes. And obviously that's not everything, right? But that's where we start and then we tweak, right? And when we find things in the labs that we need to address, we, we address them one by one.
If you've recently received an abnormal Pap smear result or told that you test positive for high-risk HPV virus, I'm here to empower you. Your body is powerful and it's designed to heal even from HPV. I'm Dr. Donni, and I've spent years helping women to tap into their natural healing potential. The Say Goodbye to HPV program provides you with a personalized, natural approach to support your immune system and clear HPV. This is about giving your body the boost it needs to do what it's made to do.
Join the thousands of women who've taken this journey with me and start your own path.
I think the important thing for people to know also is that— and I know that you do this in your groups too— is Even though it's a group program, the reason that I think my couples have more success is one, obviously we're meant to do things in community as human beings, right? Not in silos. So that's first and foremost. But the other thing is everyone joins a program in different stages of their journey. And so a lot of times other people in the group are asking questions that you may not even realize that you have. So you're learning. And I also say I'm also a big advocate of women being able to, and men also being able to interpret their own labs. I want them to walk away understanding their biochemistry inside out. I want them to know how to basal body temperature track because my other founding value is I want them to take what I teach them, rinse and repeat it as many times as they can so they can have as many babies as they want and they don't have to come back and pay me every time when they want to have a baby. I want to teach them this foundational work and knowledge so that they can have the family of their dreams and not be dependent on a doctor. And so that is a big part of what I do is also giving them ownership over their biochemistry. And so I think the group format also speaks to that because when we do basal body temperature tracking, for instance, if you work with me for 3 months and you're only looking at your own chart, you're only going to see 3, right? But if you get to see everybody else's chart too, you'll probably see like 20 or 30 or 40 or even 50 over the course of their time with me. And so the amount that they will learn in this format And also just not being alone. It's such a lonely journey, the fertility journey. I know I was very, very alone and you can't really talk to people about it, right? Because it's so personal. And there was nothing more disempowering when I was on my journey when my neighbor would be like, oh, I tried once and I got pregnant, haha.
And I'm like crying inside.
Yeah.
What are you going to say at that point? Yeah, it's tough. It's really It's such an important point that women are feeling alone and they don't know who to ask. And it's confusing when you look out there because there's all kinds of information and you're just like— and then you lose belief because a lot of times even the practitioners may say things that cause women to lose their belief in their ability to get pregnant, let alone their AMH. But other things, other things too, right? Get women— are things that they just really feel defeated. And so I love that you're emphasizing to come in with like, let's find some belief that your body can respond. Even when you start finding what your body needed in the first place, all of a sudden it starts responding, and then your belief only grows, right?
Then you're like, oh wow, my body's doing something different. Yeah, 100%, 100%. And I also want to just emphasize that I don't— I'm not anti-IVF or IUI. I did both of those things, you know. I have a lot of couples that come to me and they're like, well, I'm already committed IVF, I'm like, okay, great, let's just make sure it works the first time.
It's an important thing because if you could go in and doing IVF, but if your body's still depleted, then you're not getting those healthy embryos. Or there's so many important steps in that process that we can also improve.
Absolutely. And if you work on optimizing egg quality and sperm quality before retrieval and before sperm collection, I mean, it's much— when I've also seen tremendous shifts in IVF outcomes with my work. So even when I have, for instance, a woman who might have blocked tubes or something like that, you know, she's obviously not going to be able to get pregnant naturally, but I'm like, it's okay, like, let's nurture these beautiful eggs in your ovaries so that you get perfect, amazing eggs that all fertilize, and then you have lots of embryos to choose from. And let's try to not have you go through more than one egg retrieval. Let's see if we can get it right the first time, you know. So I'm not anti-IVF or IUI. I just feel very strongly about people doing the foundational work. And I do— I think what I offer also that's a little bit different is that because I have, you know, over 20 years of clinical experience in traditional medicine, and I've delivered babies in the ER and done my own ultrasounds in the ER, I'm very well versed in the traditional approaches as well as the functional medicine approaches. And I think, I think the ideal way is to put it all together, right? So if somebody needs progesterone support, I'm all for it. But if we can optimize the foundation, a lot of times I find that even just working on egg quality alone and somebody with low progesterone could get them up to a normal level where they don't need supplementation, you know, with, with bioidentical progesterone.
So lots of, lots of shifts that kind of occur on the journey along the way. Well, and it's— you're mentioning, you know, just that this is all that's missing from a standard approach. You know, if you, if you're gonna— if you're going just to the gynecologist or just to the fertility specialist, specialist, they're going to focus in on their protocol and approach, but they are going to not touch on any of the— what you're referring to as functional medicine, like the mindset, the diet, the supplements, the gut healing, the— you know, that's not part of their training. So that's just not going to happen there. You're going to— to really increase your success rate and your odds, you're going to— you might as well take a comprehensive approach and, and do that with someone like you who has the experience and, and has it all laid out for you. You don't have to just be searching online trying to figure it out yourself when you can— it's just like right here, like right here.
I know. Yeah, yeah.
It's, uh, helping women for real. Yeah, let's just do that. Because we're used to things being hard, aren't we? We're so used to it. Just, yeah. I have to figure it out myself and it's going to be difficult. And but like, no, how about we, we, we can choose differently. We can choose to receive support from someone who has the expertise.
Yeah, 100%.
I mean, I think guidance is everything. I always tell my couples, I'm like, you're still actively participating in your journey. You're just kind of moving over to the passenger seat and letting somebody else drive the car for a little bit, you know? But you have full say in everything that we do. And I'm all about meeting couples where they are because everybody Everybody's got different schedules and lifestyle preferences and dietary preferences. And so that's why I'm always a big proponent of there's no one size fits all. And I really invite my couples to speak when they're hitting a block or when something's not working. But I firmly believe that if we don't take a comprehensive approach, there's so many things that are missed. And I feel like couples are often pushed down this road unnecessarily. And it's hard. IVF is hard. Let's face it. It's very hard on the body. It's ridiculously expensive. I personally spent over $100,000 on my journey. And while I was blessed to have been able to do that, it, you know, it, it definitely put a big hole in my pocket and it was really hard and it was really stressful. And You know, I just, I'm also a big advocate for keeping this affordable, you know. And but like you said, you were like, there's so much overwhelming information out there. And so the other message that I have is, you know, would you go pick up a book and read all the pages out of order? Or would you rather have somebody put them in the right order so that you can read them and very well get through the story and get through your journey with an organized plan and with direction and cohesiveness and clarity, you know, because I find that a lot of my couples have done all the things. They've tried the diets and they've tried the supplements and they've tried the books and, you know, they've taken some medications. And I don't have anybody that doesn't come to me without having tried a million things. And my whole thing is, if you're sitting here and there's any of this is resonating, then clearly what you're doing didn't work.
And nothing changes until something changes, right? Exactly. It's so true. Nothing changes until we get that— what— that information is just in our blind spot, but we need someone else to help us see it and be able to create those changes. And, and then— and there's so many more couples struggling with fertility worldwide, all different ages, ages, right? This is, this is a growing concern.
It is. 1 in 6 couples, I think, is the current statistic, are struggling with infertility. And 50% of, of couples struggling with infertility, there is a male factor component. It might not be all male factor, but 50% of the time male factor plays a role. I'll be honest, I haven't seen a single semen sample in a very long time that was good enough for natural conception. I've seen a few that have been good enough for IVF and IUI, but I— it's, it's pretty rare to see a semen sample that's good enough for natural fertility, which is kind of crazy and scary.
So you help them as well?
And yeah, I do both female and male factor.
My preferred methodology of working is to work with both members of a couple if it's available.
Wonderful.
Amazing. Yeah. And you too, if someone's interested in your program and wanting to know more about how you do what you do,— I know you offer a masterclass. The, the, uh, tell, tell us more about it.
The Get and Stay Pregnant Naturally Masterclass. Yeah, so I do those, you know, once in a while. Um, I've had a lot of interest. I'm doing one coming up in— let's see, it's today, it's coming up on March 10th. Um, so anybody who gets a hold of this and wants to take a look, I think we've— you'll have a link, uh, in the show notes. Um, and if for some reason somebody's watching this after that, um, I do have other ways. I have another masterclass that they can watch, get some information, and then there's also an opportunity to book a call. Um, and I, I will speak with couples for free. They can apply to have a call with me and we can figure out if they are a candidate for my support. Um, I believe in transparency, so I always tell my couples that the purpose of the call is really for us to figure out if they're a candidate for my support and that if they are not for whatever reason, you know, I will give them some clarity. And either way, they leave the conversation with a very clear plan with some peace and some direction and hopefully some new knowledge.
Wonderful. That's, that's such a— that's the way it should be, right? Like, if we could just say, yeah, let's, let's get together and see what's your situation. Does this match with this, with your program or not? And where can you go from there? And I, I, I offer that same thing too with people that I work with because it's, it's just so important. You know, we don't get that out there in the world. And so I think sometimes people might like, it almost seems too good to be true. But I can tell you, you're, you're not too good to be true. You're the real thing. You know, to, to know that you just authentically are here to help people and, and genuinely help them figure out what's going on and to get to, to that, to grow their family the way they're hoping.
100%. Yeah. And I'm the first to turn a couple away if I can't help them because this journey is so hard and so emotional. And the last The last thing we want to do as providers is set anyone up for failure, right? So I'm very honest with my couples that, okay, this may or may not work. Or if I'm like, there's no reason this shouldn't work, they know right away where they fall on the spectrum. And I'm like, whatever you do, you go in and you make an informed decision on your journey. But it's amazing. I think the little kind of offshoot or perk on the side is that health transforms in the process. So there have been couples that I've worked with where, you know, all of a sudden they're losing 30 pounds and 40 pounds that have been hanging on. And there— I've had one woman tell me her vision got better. You know, energy frequently goes up. You know, hair becomes more full. I've had, you know, women been with acne for 20 years, all of a sudden their skin is clear because we've addressed what's going on in their gut. A lot of people don't realize that skin issues are often, you know, tied to the gut. And I've even, believe it or not, had people been able to wean off of anxiety and depression medications because 90% of our serotonin is produced in our gut. And so there are so many— there's so much windfall and beautiful, you know, downstream effects from preparing the body for optimal fertility. Because let's face it, when we're optimally fertile, we're optimally healthy. So those two things go hand in hand. And I think that's probably the biggest thing that the traditional approaches miss that you and I do every day in our practices.
Absolutely. I see it all the time. And I know you have amazing, amazing stories as well of people who thought they could never get pregnant and then they Yep.
Yep. I mean, yes, I've got— I'll tell you two stories. I have one couple, actually, they're on your side of the world in Jersey, and she is a board-certified endocrinologist. Her husband is an interventional cardiologist, and they had been trying for 7 years to get pregnant, and they had 7 failed IUIs, and then they went and did 3 failed rounds of IVF, and she was hospitalized twice for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. So I know, awful, right? So by the time they came to me, they were like, okay, you're kind of our last resort. Um, we're told that we probably need to just, you know, kick this to the curb and just go adopt. Um, but we're not ready to do that. And I was like, okay, well, let's take a look. 8 weeks later, they were naturally pregnant. Oh my gosh. And they had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Girl. And then I had another couple, they're here in Texas with me, and her AMH was like point— I think it was like 0.2, 0.15 or 0.2, something very low. And the IVF doctor said, well, you've got to do IVF, there's no hope. And we actually need a donor egg too. And she and her husband came to me and they had done their regular health checkups and so forth. But it was really interesting because It was completely missed that he was a pre-diabetic. He had borderline high cholesterol. He had borderline hypertension. And he was about, you know, he had about 40 pounds that he gained over the course of many years. She didn't realize that— well, she had one blocked tube, so we found that out because I was like, you know, she went and got an HSG and one tube was blocked. She also had about 30 pounds. She came to me with a lot of vague symptoms like headaches and dizziness dizziness. We discovered that she had Hashimoto's disease. She didn't know that she had an autoimmune condition. We also, believe it or not, discovered that she had a prolactinoma because her prolactin was very high. So she ended up having to go on, you know, a medication for a short period of time. But everything else that we did was with food and natural supplements and lifestyle changes. And she lost 30 pounds. He lost 40 pounds. Her headaches went away. Her dizziness went away. She had more energy than she'd ever felt. And he had basically the same. He was able to— he was no longer pre-diabetic, his blood pressure corrected, his cholesterol went to normal, and they had a baby. And her AMH went from 0.2 to 1.1. And here's the funny thing. She went back to her fertility doctor and her fertility doctor said, well, your AMH, that AMH must have been a lab error.
Right?
Of course they said that. Of course.
Yeah. So what about the pregnancy? Did they think that that was like, you know, they're an error too? Yeah, right. Like, oh, how did that happen?
Okay.
Wow. It really is so amazing. I know too, when I've worked with couples and they get to that pregnancy, it just feels like such a beautiful gift. And, and it is. It's what a beautiful gift that people can find like that it's just by getting into connection with their own body and figuring out, like, what you're describing are things that should be getting caught on standard medical exams but aren't. And yeah, and so it's like, just, you know, it's just heartbreaking to know that couples are out there with, with situations that really we can quickly identify and address, and then their bodies can quickly We start shifting things, and, and all of a sudden pregnancies are happening. And it's, it's really not a mystery. It's actually completely physiology and science. It is right there in front of us, and it's just completely getting missed. And so I'm so glad that you're offering this service, Nishad. I'm so, so, you know, proud of you and, and excited for people to know about you. And, and I'm And definitely anyone listening, I'll look down below because I'll have links for you to get in touch with Dr. Najat Latif and Reimagined Health and Fertility so that you can also be on this path to transforming your health and your life and your family. And is there anything else you'd like to share today?
Oh my gosh. I think the main thing is just sitting in a place of hope is the first step. And I invite every single person who's been on a fertility journey, uh, I know what it's like, and you're not alone, and you're not broken. And the best place to start before you do anything else, before you click anything, is just close your eyes, put your hand on your heart, and step into a place of hope and possibility and belief. Because if we can just do that one little thing, a lot more is possible, you know. And yes, you may need a little support. Short.
Um, but open your heart and your mind is kind of the place to start. So such amazing advice, and thank you again so much for coming to share with us here today.
