High-Risk HPV: 5 Crucial Facts Every Woman Needs to Know

YouTube episode by Dr. Doni Wilson summarizing five things all women should know about high‑risk HPV: (1) most people are exposed (destigmatization); (2) the body commonly clears high‑risk HPV (research cites ~90% clearance within two years); (3) women can use lifestyle, nutrition, herbs and other functional/naturopathic tools to help clear HPV faster; (4) HPV persists when the host is stressed, nutrient/hormone/microbiome‑depleted; (5) protection from HPV and HPV‑driven cancer depends largely on strengthening internal defenses (self‑care, sleep, diet, microbiome) in addition to partial external measures (condoms, vaccine). The speaker invites viewers to a free 5‑day workshop and offers programs and one‑on‑one care.

Chapters
Hi and welcome to how humans heal. I'm Dr. Donni Wilson and in this episode I'm going to be covering five things that all women should know about high risk HPV virus. So I'm excited to cover this with you. So the first thing that I think that all women should know about high risk HPV virus is that most all of us are exposed to high risk HPV virus at some point in our life. And it doesn't mean that you did something wrong. Many women are led to believe that they did something wrong that they should or shouldn't have done, a relationship they should or shouldn't have been in, or a vaccine they should have gotten, or something like that. There's a lot of what ifs and woulda coulda shouldas that happen for women when they find out that they are positive for high risk hpv. And I want to help eliminate that for you, including the shame, the embarrassment, the feeling like there, that, that there's something that you did wrong to cause you to become positive for high risk hpv. Because ultimately the way I look at it is we're all human, we're all going to have sex. Some humans who are sexually active get exposed to high risk HPV virus. In fact, what the research and the official, even the official online, like let's say the, in the United States, the cdc, which is the Centers for Disease Control and other online websites, even in the uk, all states that there's, that most all of us are exposed to HPV virus at some point in our lives. In fact, they consider it to be 80% of us even by age 50 and a lot of times even by age 20 have been exposed to high risk HPV virus. And also in the United states alone.
There'S.
13 million Americans become positive for high risk HPV each year. That's an estimate. I would think it could even be higher than that because not everybody's getting tested. So we don't even know the full potential of how many people are being exposed to and testing positive for high risk HPV each year. But of the people who are being tested, we're seeing millions of cases, over 13 million Americans every year. That means there's over 42 million Americans who are positive for HPV virus right now. So if you look around, you can be like most all of us have this. So that should mean that we should not be shaming each other or shaming ourselves about testing positive for hpv because that ends up actually working against you whenever we are in a state of shame and embarrassment. It actually means that we feel isolated, we're less likely to ask for help and we're in a more a state of mind where we're being hard on ourselves. And so that ends up working against you because it causes a stress response. And as I'll be talking about, when we're under stress and we're in a state of fear, the virus takes advantage of that. That depletes our immune system, it depletes our protective mechanisms and makes us more susceptible to this virus. That's why I put this as number one, is because I feel so strongly that I want you to be able to set aside any kind of shame or embarrassment and forgive yourself because you're human and humans get exposed to hpv, high risk hpv. I know I've been exposed, I know I've tested positive in my life. And I say that because I want you to know that it's, I'm speaking to you as another human, another woman, another person who's been through this and we don't need to be adding to the issue by being hard on ourselves. So forgive yourself, let that go and say, okay, now what can I do about this? Right? What can I do about this high risk hpv? So this is number two, the number two thing that I think all women should know is that the human body can clear this virus. Because unfortunately it's very upsetting and disturbing to me that so many practitioners and people are telling women that it's lifelong, that there's nothing you can do about it, that it's going to be there forever. They're telling women this. And yet the research and I will put references down below in case you want to read. The research is very clear that the human body can we refer to it as clear, the HPV virus. That means it can completely eliminate, get rid of the virus. It can be gone. In fact, the research shows that in 90% of us, our bodies clear the virus to gone within two years and many people it even clears within six months because we have human defense mechanisms that help us clear the virus. We have an immune system that makes antibodies against the virus kicks out of there, let alone our microbiome, our vaginal microbiome. The vaginal microbiome is a protective bacteria that kick out the viruses, including HPV virus. So we're learning more and more every year about our protective mechanisms that help protect us from viruses like HPV, including the high risk types of HPV. There's at least 13 types of HPV that are associated with cancer risk and our Bodies can fight it off. It's not necessarily going to be there forever. In fact, 90% of cases, it goes away within two years. So why not? Why couldn't that be for you? Right? You also, you have a human body, you have an immune system. Your body can clear hpv. Also, it can. So anyone who's telling you that it's not possible to get rid of it hasn't been reading the research, hasn't been reading. Even on the CDC website, this is stated.
So and on Healthline and on, you know, you will see this on official websites. This is not me making this up. This is well established information that should be even being told to by your gynecologist. But sometimes the doctors aren't aware of this and they're not saying this. And unfortunately there's a lot of misinformation. And so that's why I want to make sure you know that your body, and I encourage you to say this to yourself, write it down, remind yourself, you, your body has the capacity to fend off high risk hpv, which means you have the ability to protect yourself from cancer caused by high risk hpv. Just because you were exposed to it, just because it tested positive, doesn't mean it can cause cancer. Because you can intervene. You can intervene. You are the one choosing what happens in your body and you can intervene. Now here's the thing, number three, the number three thing that I think you should know is that you don't just have to wait and hope that your body's going to clear it. Right? See, this is the thing is this is where they stop. And most of the research and on the websites they say you can clear it, but they make it seem as if it's a mystery that there's nothing you can do. They even say on some of these websites that there's no treatment. That's because there's not a pharmaceutical, there's not a pharmaceutical treatment. There's not a surgery you can do to remove hpv. Even if you have surgery, the HPV remains. So there's not a conventional medical treatment. However, there are a lot of things you can do to help your body be better at clearing hpv. And this is where I specialize. Remember, I'm a women's health expert. I'm trained as a primary care practitioner, women's health expert, midwife. I could be doing primary care, pap smears and, and all of that under insurance, but I know that that's available. I know you can access that in your, under your insurance. You can find Many gynecologists and midwives who are covered. I know you're gonna be able to get a pap smear. There's no shortage of that. But what there's a shortage of is someone who's saying to you that you can do things to protect yourself from this virus, to make sure your body clears it. I prevent it from causing cancer. So that's why I do what I do. That's why I decided I'm going to do this. I'm going to step outside of the standard medical model and standard insurance model and teach you the things you can do to protect yourself from getting cancer, from needing more procedures. Hopefully, hopefully you can. This is the women that I work with and I work with thousands of women from around the world. Because this is not just in a US issue, this is happening to women around the world. Some of the highest numbers of HPV and cervical cancer are happening in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
So this is an issue around the world, not just the United States. We're in this together. We need to help each other out and we need to do something about this. Because.
High risk hpv, even though most people can clear the virus, there's a percentage of people who don't clear the virus and are at risk for cancer. Cervical cancer for women, vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer can be anal cancer, also in men, penile cancer, oral cancer. Over 70% of oral cancer is caused by HPV.
So we need to be protecting ourselves from it. I don't want you to end up getting cancer and realize, oh, I wish I would have. Now I also help patients who got cancer caused by HPV and help them prevent it from coming back again. Because we need to still get the virus to stop. We don't want that virus causing cancer again, right? If it got to do it once, it's not going to get to do it again. Have you been dealing with high risk HPV virus and potentially abnormal cells on your Pap smear result? I'm Dr. Donnie Wilson, naturopathic doctor and midwife and, and I've been helping thousands of women over the past 24 years to help them clear the HPV virus to negative and prevent cervical cancer. And I would love to teach you as well. I invite you to join me at my next free 5 day online workshop. I'm going to be teaching you all about hpv. I'll teach you all about understanding your pap smear results, clearing HPV to negative, and help you to understand what's making you susceptible to this virus in the first place. Just click on the link down below and it will guide you to join me at the very next workshop where I'm going to be able to guide you to create your healing plan to get rid of hpv. I look forward to seeing you there in the workshop. So here's the thing. The number three thing you should know is that there's so much you can do to help your body.
Make sure that virus goes away and faster. You don't have to wait the two years. You can get this to go away in three months, six months. I see women clearing it very fast. And it's by using tools that are considered natural medicine, functional medicine, nutrition. Right. We're using dietary changes, and this is also established in the research, by the way. We can make diet changes that will help us protect ourselves from hpv. We can take nutrients, specific nutrients that have a lot of research on how they support the immune system, how they're antiviral, they help our bodies protect us from infections, including hpv. We can use herbs, they support our immune system, help our vaginal environment decrease inflammation, heal leaky gut, heal our adrenal glands. We can use these herbs. We can use homeopathic remedies, we can use mindset changes, we can do emotional healing, trauma healing, and more. All of these things, all of these ways that we can help our human bodies to recover from stress ultimately. And as we use these tools that are available to us, we kind of dismiss and take for granted things like food as medicine, nutrients, herbs. These are tools that are well established. They have the ability to build up our immune system and protect us from viruses, including HPV virus. And what I see is by doing that, we can make it more likely that your body is going to clear HPV faster. And what I do is because I have a background as a naturopathic doctor and nutritionist, I can help you figure out exactly the diet changes, exactly the nutrients, exactly the doses of herbs in the right sequence to be most likely to work. So you don't have to guess. You don't have to guess and figure it out on your own and rely on some online marketing. You can trust an expert to guide you who's been doing this for over two decades that can guide you to take exactly what's worked for other women and men. I also see men in my practice. Okay, number four, number four thing that all women should know is that HPV virus attacks when we're run down and depleted. So I ask you, have you been under a lot of stress the past year or two, are you depleted in nutrients, hormones, microbiome? Have you had to take a lot of antibiotics, steroids, other medications to deplete your immune system, birth control pills? Have you, Are you going through hormone changes? Mary, per menopause, post menopause.
All of these things cause us to be depleted and run down. We become nutrient depleted, adrenal depleted, nervous system depleted. That's when the HPV virus thrives. It can tell when we're run down and that's when it sneaks in and starts causing trouble with our cells. So just remember that HPV is not just about exposure. We're most all exposed.
But what makes the difference is whether you're depleted. When you're depleted and run down and stressed out, HPV stays, it persists, it hangs around, it causes cells, abnormal cells. So we need to build up your defenses. We need to rebuild your internal system. We need to improve your cellular health, we need to improve your microbiome, your gut health, your hormone levels, your neurotransmitter levels. Help your adrenal glands recover from stress, help your nervous system recover from stress, any nutrient deficiencies. When we help you recover and replete yourself, restore your house, you're going to be able to fend off hpv, no problem. I see it over and over again. Women who go through this protocol with me, they rebuild themselves, they eliminate what they no longer need, including neg, limiting beliefs that may be limiting them, eliminating foods that are inflammatory.
And they bring in what they do need, including more self care and sleep, stress recovery, nutrients, herbs to help them restore their healthy function. And by doing that, they're able to fend off hpv even if re exposed. It's not about exposure. It's not required to avoid sex, it's not required to avoid exposure to hpv. I see all the time women go to negative on hpv, heal their cervix, heal the vaginal tissue, even if they're still getting exposed to hpv because the body can protect you. So if you're exposed, it doesn't necessarily mean the virus is going to hang out and cause trouble. Even when you're exposed, we want your immune system and your microbiome to kick that virus out of there so we can't hang around and cause trouble. So this is what I want you to know, number four, that HPV attacks when we're run down. So we need to heal ourselves, recover from stress and depletion, and when we do, we can protect ourselves from hpv. Number five is that you can Protect yourself from HPV and cancer, not just by avoidance. Right again, not just by not having sex or using a condom. And condoms are not 100% effective because there's still expo. Genital exposure to the virus vaccine is not 100% effective. These things that you'll hear about, and they have partial effectiveness, but they're not 100% effective. So it's not just about avoidance. Externally, that's the same thing with any microbe. We have to understand that we live as humans, we live in an environment with other microbes. We live in an environment with other bacteria, yeast, viruses. It doesn't. The point is not to try to avoid them all. The point is how can we live in this environmental ecosystem with these microbiome microbes. How can we expect we're going to get exposed to viruses, not just hpv, but other viruses, we're going to get exposed to bacteria, but we need to be able to keep our defenses up. And we do that by taking care of ourselves. How can we learn? So number five is really how can you by learning to take better care of yourself, your body, your home, this human body, that's your home that you live in, your microbiome.
Your self care. The more you can be your own health advocate and each day say, how can I take better care of myself? How can I be forgiving of myself, gentle with myself? Learning each and every day, step by step, small incremental steps. It sees incremental steps over time, they create the change. Many women who come to work with me in my program and one on one, they say to me, I'm not sure I can do it. And they feel stressed about being perfect and hard on themselves if they're not doing everything exactly as I described. And I encourage them by saying it's not about perfection. It's not about creating a huge drastic change overnight. It's about making small incremental changes over time to take better care of yourself little by little, and in the process become more loving of yourself, more forgiving of yourself. Not that you're going to dismiss things, but you're going to make positive changes and learn each and every day, each and every day, taking better and better care of yourself that we never learned in elementary school, we never learned in college. We didn't learn how to take care of ourselves. We learned how to stress ourselves out and how to push harder. So now is your chance to learn how to take care of yourself, to learn how to take care of this beautiful body that you live in and to feel grateful for this body and to give it a beautiful home to live in, a safe place to live in and a daily routine of self care. What you're eating, when you're sleeping, stress recovery, exercise. Let's take good care of this beautiful body that you're living in and lean into the possibility that your body can protect you from viruses like high risk hpv. Your body can protect you even if you're in an intimate relationship.
And hopefully my hope is that we can all have intimacy with other humans knowing that we can protect ourselves from high risk hpv. You should not have to live your life in fear of cancer caused by high risk hpv because there's so much you can do to protect yourself. And I see this, I see this in my beautiful amazing patients, both men and women from around the world who implement these steps, who say, okay, I'm worth it, I deserve it. I'm going to start taking better care of myself each and every day, little bit, step by step. And they're going to start implementing using the tools we have available to us to help build up your internal protective mechanisms so that your body can clear high risk HPV as well. I know it's possible for you, so I'd love to hear from you. Please leave me a comment review subscribe so you can join me for the next episode of How Humans Heal. I'd love to know anything else that you would like for me to cover and I will in the future. And I hope this has been inspiring for you to know. I hope you can take these five things and remind yourself each day.
It'S nothing you did wrong, it's not your fault. Most all of us are exposed to this virus. The human body can clear this virus, it can to negative and it can stay negative. There's so much you can do to protect yourself and you just start in. Little by little each day that HPV virus attacks when we're down, when we're depleted. So we need to build ourselves back up again. And by doing that we can protect ourselves. And by learning to really take care of our body as a fortress, by taking better self care little by little, each day we'll build up incrementally to greater and greater change and greater and greater potential to protect ourselves from HPV related cancer. I believe in you and I look forward to helping you. If you would like more help with any of the steps that I'm mentioning, don't hesitate to reach out. I have both an online group program that's available around the world and I have one on one care where I can work with you one on one and guide you through my protocol of diet changes, nutrients, herbs, even detoxification, mindset, emotional healing. All of this is possible. I can guide you through the the research and the most effective products and dosing so that you also can get this HPV to negative and prevent it from coming back again. Okay, I'll talk to you soon.
