Dr. Doni Wilson explains why some HPV infections persist: abnormal cortisol, nutrient deficiencies, leaky gut, dysbiosis, and undiagnosed autoimmune conditions can block your immune system from clearing the virus. She focuses on fixing these root causes rather than treating HPV alone.

If you've tested positive for HPV virus, or perhaps you've been testing positive for years and it never seems to go away, I want you to hear this. HPV doesn't stick around because your body's failing you. It's that it doesn't go away when we don't address what's making you susceptible to the virus in the first place. HPV persists when there's most always something deeper going on. Too high or too low cortisol levels, nutrient deficiencies, leaky gut. Imbalance of your gut and vaginal microbiome. It could be that you have other health issues such as an autoimmune condition, and we never realized that it was all connected. These are not separate issues. It's all part of the same issue going on in your body. When we only focus on the HPV, we miss the fact that there's something preventing your immune system from doing its job. You see, your immune system can clear HPV when when it has the support that it needs. So if HPV isn't going away, it's that we need to ask, why is your immune system struggling? And that's exactly where I begin with each of my patients and program participants. We don't just focus on the virus. We focus on what your body needs in order to heal. And when we do that, everything turns around and your body starts healing and able to protect you from HPV going forward.
