Hi, I'm Dr. Donnie. Donny L. Wilson. If I haven't met you before, I'm glad you're here and glad to meet you.
I am naturopathic doctor and nutritionist and midwife.
Really. I just think of it as I'm here to learn from my own body and my health and from my patients to hopefully then be able to share that information with even more of you who are searching for answers about your health, looking to feel better, and just wanting to find some other solutions to help ease your pain and suffering and experience in your life.
I just wanted to be able to talk a little bit today about, about that, about.
Who I am and what I do and how I. How I got here and how I. How I'm here to help if it matches up for you.
You know, talking to all different practitioners and people and experts and healers in this podcast has given me such a beautiful opportunity to get to connect with others and really see all the different ways that people are looking to help themselves and others with their health. Of course, as humans.
We'Re going to have health issues. That's just part of it. We have human bodies and minds that have wear and tear on them and we have stress exposure that's going to throw things out of balance. And of course, ancient experts from way back in time have also learned and shared so much with us to help us along the way. And so I'm humbled to be, help, be part of that helping, helping team. And.
I'm not sure exactly why I was called to do this. I think just as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be able to show compassion and caring and support to others.
Including animals, everything plants, animals, humans, the earth. And it just was automatic for me. And I'm so grateful that I listened to that and followed that in my life so far. And, and it's really been something that's brought me a lot of love and beauty and gratitude. So I'm continuing on this path and by listening to that and following that desire to be there for others is what really brought me to study naturopathic medicine. And it just so happens that I realized that I'm so lucky that I found my way to Bastyr University in the Seattle area back in the 90s.
This was right after I finished my bachelor's degree in nutrition and science. Really at that time I was pre med. I knew I wanted to help people, but I was trying to find a way to help people that was more aligned with what I found was helping me, which was through food and through stress reduction and connection to nature and so on. And so that's how I found Bastyr University, from a friend. And I'm so grateful for all of my teachers and mentors there. Dr. Joe Pizzorno, who is the president and founder of Bastyr University. And I was so lucky to get to train under him, as well as.
Many other amazing, brilliant instructors and teachers, had anatomy teachers from University of Washington Medical School, and physiology teachers who'd been teaching their whole lifetime, pathology and biochemistry and all of the herbalists and homeopaths and nutritionists. It's just when I think back on it, it's just really so amazing. The opportunity that I had and that I invested in, I paid for my training there at Bastyr University. And I was there for really six years. And.
Also Dr. Jeffrey Bland, who is along with Dr. Joe Pizzorno and Dr. Lechuler and.
And Dr. Alan Gaby and some are some of the names of just brilliant practitioners who I was able to train with and I feel so grateful to because it's helped me. It's helped me throughout my practice helping other people and helping myself. And it just allowed me to really open up and blossom and allow that information to flow through me and to continue to investigate and research all of the. The midwives who trained me how to be a midwife, Dr. Morgan Martin and Felice Barneau. And it's like to be present with women in this amazing, amazing, beautiful experience of having a baby and be present with her and learn how to be present and learn how to go through pain and difficulties and be able to get through it and gain confidence, empowerment through it. That's what's really guided me in the work that I do. And to be able to be present in the moment with the details, but also be able to see the big picture and how it all fits together and find the missing puzzle pieces. To be able to solve so many health issues for people and also how to be able to see them as they really are, be vulnerable, being vulnerable and transparent and asking for help and being vulnerable in their own bodies and wanting to learn what the body's trying to tell them.
So it's just been.
Such an amazing opportunity to do what I do and to be at the same time going through my own health challenges along the way, whether that was with migraines, with even challenges of running businesses and being a mom and owning a home and all of the things that go with these parts of just being human again and.
Even just recently learning about Being able to research and understand the human body and learning, knowing how to read, research and how to make connections on the scientific level and also on a mind, body, energetic level to really be able to understand what's been going on in my body, you know, to pick up on all the little clues and hints and, and, and to then have my suspicion validated by.
The woman and researcher who really did the work to identify the criteria that established the condition that I have. And she did that over 30 years ago. I had the opportunity to meet with her and have her confirm and validate.
Based on her experience that that is what's happening for me. And to be able to realize that so much of the time that's what we need is just to be able to be seen and understood and validated even if there's no treatment, even if there's nothing we can do, but just to be seen and understood in this human existence. And so if I can, if I can even just offer that to you, I know that it'll be healing for you because then you're already more being more loving and compassionate of yourself. And of course it's that love and compassion and unconditionality of ourselves that really helps us to counteract all the stress and trauma that we're exposed to.
Something a lot of people don't know is that too much stress can actually create an abundance of health problems like high blood pressure, high blood sugar, anxiety, migraines, insomnia, even fertility issues. So.
Just this past year really taken me, it's been a couple years but I just finished writing a new book and I really can't wait. I'm so excited. I can't wait for it to be out in the world and in your hands. And it's about what I've learned through all of these experiences and the thousands of patients that I'm so grateful to have learned from and who've taught me and shared with me.
And then all of the teachers I've had, every teacher I've had from along the way, and the researchers work that I've read. And I just try to bring it all together so that it can be in one place to hopefully just make your path a little bit easier. And so I'm so grateful for the team of people who've helped me to make that book happen. And it's still in the production process, so it's going to be probably another.
Maybe months before it's actually in a book form, but it's written. And it feels so good to be able to feel that and see this gift I'm about to deliver into the world.
And to be inspired to do more of that, to look at where are the places where more information is needed, where people are suffering and confused and alone and afraid unnecessarily, because the information is there. It's just not easily accessible. And people have to really work hard to find the right information and who to trust and what to do that's going to work. And my hope is to be able to just make that a little easier so you can have that information at your fingertips and to feel understood and to feel like you can understand yourself and your body a little bit better and. And navigate your journey with a little bit more joy and ease and peace. And, you know, of course, we don't know how long we have here.
In this life, on this earth, in this way of being, but, you know, we figured that we want to be present in every moment and be able to enjoy the people in our lives and really enjoy the beauty all around us. And so for however many days that I'm here, I'm committed to continuing to.
Just observe and learn and put it into form that I can hold and offer to you if it may serve you and resonate with you. So that's a little bit about me and what I'm up to. And I'm so glad to get to celebrate with all of you.
And to recognize that, you know, I know there's. There's so much information out there. You could be searching and hearing this and listening to that, and it gets very confusing because you don't quite know who to listen to or how much experience they have or whether they're giving you the best information. And so I just feel for you in that. I feel that. That. And I guess I just want to be able to say that.
For me, when I give information, it's based on every. All the information that I've gathered and learned from others, and it's. And information that I've put together, that I've tested, that I've tried on myself, that I've learned from patients that I've. That I've analyzed and, and reviewed and sorted through and, And. And so if I can, you know, if I can just offer what I have, it doesn't mean I have all the right answers or all the information at all. I'm constantly learning every day, every minute.
But at the same time.
I'd love. If there's bits and pieces of information that can help you and to. Based on everything that I've done together, then I would love for that to be a gift and we can continue to learn together. I think it's just a matter of maintaining that curiosity and presence and.
And just willingness and desire to just be human and to understand ourselves and what we can do to support ourselves through even the tough times, even the painful times, even the intense and difficult times. How do we help ourselves through that? It could be a little bit different for each person, and yet there's a lot of options. And if we can put it together in a format, in a, you know, in a. In a way, in a. That can make it a little more smooth.
Then.
That'S what I'm going for. That's what I'm hoping for, and that's what I'm sharing. So I'm glad you're here and I. I welcome your questions and your curiosities and anything that has been difficult for you so that I can know that that's where you need me to share more and give more and maybe interview experts to bring even more detail to certain topics or research on my own until I can find some solutions for us.
So please let me know where I can be of a service and.
If it helps to reach out to me or my office, if you'd like to be able to connect more one on one so that I can.
Do further, then please do, please reach out or begin with some of that, the offerings that I've put together as starting places so that you can start down this path of learning more about yourself and learning more about what you need. So thank you again and I look forward to connecting with you more soon.
