Gary Sanchez built a one-hour process to help people find their why, how, and what, inspired by Simon Sinek's work. Through repeated use, he identified nine distinct types of why and created the Y discovery and WHY Institute to make Sinek's concept actually actionable.
I took that concept and I made it useful. I spent so much time helping people discover their why, I found a better way to help people discover their why, so I could sit down with somebody in about an hour, take them through this process, help them discover their why, how, and what, and then use that in their life. And I did this so often that I started to notice patterns and trends and similarities. And I figured out that there's only nine different whys. And so that became the basis for the Y discovery and the YOS discovery and the Y Institute and everything that we do. So Simon was the one that lit the fire for me. But then we've taken it so much further to actually make it useful and doable and applicable in your life.
