A short monologue by Paul Epstein emphasizing three non-negotiable traits he requires from team members—work ethic, positivity, and coachability—and describing how focusing on purpose, helping others, and giving without expectation inspired and motivated teams and his own career. The speaker frames this as both a leadership contract and personal pep talk drawn from his experience in producing roles.

What I need you to do, our contract is I need three things. I need your work ethic, your positivity, and your coachability. That's it. That's the lunch pail. Those are the non negotiables. You give me those three things, I'll take care of you for the rest of your career. And that's how I inspired and motivated teams to forget about the noise and the negativity of the market and to start focusing on what they truly wanted and that deeper burn, that igniting of passion. And I found that when you can understand what's important to other people, it's kind of that zig ziglar thing, right? You help enough people get what they want and life tends to reward you too. And I don't do that strategically. I don't take score. I don't give with the expectation of getting. I just give. As you know, I'm a contributor. I always haven't. I didn't always know that because I didn't take this wonderful assessment until recently. But, you know, reflecting back, that's how I inspired others. And that's the same pep talk that I had to have with myself when I was on the front lines in a producing role.
