Jenn Simmons, MD explains that although breast cancers remodel surrounding collagen in the tumor microenvironment, consuming dietary collagen (e.g., collagen powders in coffee) does not cause breast cancer, nor increase risk of propagation or recurrence. She discloses she consumes collagen daily and uses Further Foods products, and refers viewers to a blog post and product links for more information.

Each time I post about my morning coffee, I am bombarded with questions about collagen and the safety of collagen, especially in breast cancer patients. So I want you to know that, first of all, I wrote a blog on this because this is a point of contention. This is where it comes from. There is a lot of data that breast cancers remodel the tissue around them and they've remodeled the collagen, and it's part of the extra tumoral matrix, the extra tumoral environment. But the truth is that consuming collagen, eating collagen, drinking collagen, has nothing to do with that process. And there is no increased risk in consuming collagen for the development of breast cancer, for the propagation of breast cancer, or for the recurrence of breast cancer. So I do consume collagen every single day in my coffee. Right now, I'm using the Further Foods collagen. I actually didn't start using it for the collagen. I started using it for the protein powder because their protein powder also contains reishi mushrooms. So I love the clean ingredients and the reishi mushroom. If you want to try the Further Foods products, there is a link. You can use my discount. And if you want to read the blog on collagen, I'll link to that as well.
