Hello, Facebook. It's Dr. Jen Simmons from Real Health MD. It is Tuesday night, it's 7 o'. Clock. And that means it's time for my answer to breast cancer. My favorite time of the week. I'm so happy to be here. And tonight we are talking about the five free things that will radically improve your health. And I know that everyone is looking for answers on how to be healthier. And I just wanted to come to you with five things that have been on my mind that I think will make a huge difference for people. So the first thing and the reason why I'm going to make this quick tonight is because we all need to decrease our screen time. The electromagnetic field that is around us is astounding. We are taking it in. It is just another toxin that we're adding to our system. It is causing problems across the spectrum of age. Children with attention deficit from getting blue light toxicity. And EMF toxicity causes you to gain weight in your adulthood and leads to a host of other problems, suppresses your immunity. I mean, I could go on and on about the problems with the emf, so decreasing your screen time in as much as you can and making sure that you shut it down at night. And that leads me to the second thing that you can do to radically improve your health, and that's get restorative sleep. So there really is no path to healing without sleeping. So if you're not sleeping at night, there is no way that you're going to be healthy during the day. It just doesn't exist. So the things that you can do to help improve your sleep are to start to get in alignment with circadian rhythm, rhythm, the rhythm of the sun. So get sun exposure throughout the day. First thing in the morning, midday. And if you can watch the sunset, watch the sunset. Decrease the amount of artificial light that you take in after dark. Remember, electricity has only been in existence for 150 years. So our bodies don't know what to do with all this. Artificial light converts it to energy and prevents us from sleeping. And so we all need to get back to balance with our hormones. And the way that we do that is to get back into circadian rhythm. So as much as you can decrease the blue light exposure at night, if you really have to be in front of a screen of some kind, there are lots and lots of great blue blocker glasses, and some of them are more sophisticated than others. So depending on your degree of need, you may want to really invest in a good pair if that is an issue for you. But getting up at the same time every day, going to sleep at the same time every day, having a repertoire around your sleep is very important. Making sure that your bedroom is an inviting place and that you create an atmosphere that is appealing to sleep in and is very comforting and relaxing and all of that. The third thing that you can do to radically improve your health is to get outside more. The more that we are in touch with nature, the more that we are connected to nature, grounded with nature, the better our health is going to be. And just to give you an indication of that, I mean, every time that we see a sunrise or watch the ocean or put our feet in the sand, or, you know, have some direct contact with nature, it all always makes everyone feel better. So as much as you can get that into your daily routine, have some kind of connection to that higher source, to the wonders of nature, it will improve your health significantly. Practicing gratitude is so important. Being grateful for the here and now. Because if you're thinking about the future, if you're worried about the future, that's all anxiety and fear. And if you are stuck in the past, that's depression. But being in this here and now, and you have everything you need right now, you don't have to look to the future. You have everything you need and the potential for everything you need right now. And so really appreciating what you have will make your life so much richer in so many ways. So showing appreciation and gratitude for what you have will make everything else just easier. And the last thing that I'm going to talk about, which seems so simple but people forget all the time, is to breathe through your nose. We are intended to breathe through our nose. There's all kinds of processes that happen as we breathe through our nose that don't happen when we're mouth breathers. And there are ramifications to being a mouth breather and not breathing through your nose. And there's a brilliant book called Breath, yeah Breath by James Nestor that I recommend everyone get and read. It is absolutely fascinating and I mean, as far as I'm concerned, a must read for everyone. But really thinking about breathing through your nose, we all think that, you know, the key is oxygen, but we also all breathe too fast and we're taking in too much oxygen and losing all of our carbon dioxide. So we all really need to learn to breathe, breathing through our nose, make sure that we're not over breathing and really using our energy wisely. People find that when they start to breathe through their nose, they sleep better at night, they have more exercise tolerance, they think better, they move better, all of that. So I really recommend that book, Breath by James Nestor. It's just, it's a must read filled with fascinating tidbits and it is a quick and easy way to improve your health. So just to review, we're talking about decreasing your screen time. Have a competition with yourself to have less and less screen time every day. Getting restorative sleep and having good sleep hygiene so that you get restorative sleep. Having really good sleep habits. Protect your sleep. It's really important. Get outside more. Connect to nature. Connect that higher power. Practice gratitude. Because everyone has things to be grateful for and they are right here with you right now. You're not going to be happy. When you're not going to be happy, then you need to find that happiness right here and right now. And breathing through your nose, so simple. But people forget about it. There are so many mouth breathers out there. So I hope this was helpful. I hope that it resonates with you. I'm going to cut it short because I want to decrease my screen time and I want to go outside and watch the sunset. So bye for now.
