Dr. John A. King's group leaves Port Augusta after a companion's Commodore engine fails, requiring a tow back to Adelaide. They grab novelty burgers of crocodile, kangaroo, and buffalo at Harry's Homemade, then head north through remote outback toward Coober Pedy and Alice Springs, running a day behind schedule.

Mina and Mike were traveling up with us, following us, and she blew a timing belt, which on this particular model of Commodore threw out the valves and the heads, and it's ruined the motor. So the car's done for. So they're probably going to get the car towed back to Adelaide, which is about 2 hours away, 3 hours away. But really grateful that it happened where it did because it happened this side of a place called Port Augusta. Then it's a 6-hour jump from Port Augusta to Coober Pedy, no gas, nothing. And then another 6 or 7 hours. So we'll probably just rearrange the cars. We're going to take some tents up and stuff for them. And then, um, but, uh, yeah, so we kind of lived fancy like last night in the cabin and got washing done this morning, which is good. And, um, had a bit of a sleep. I watched telly. Yeah, news. Bloody miserable. Rather watch a fire. Anyway, heading off today. There's a place up the road that's got crocodile, kangaroo, and buffalo burgers, so I'm going to see if they've got like a crocodile breakfast sandwich. Fancy. Crocodile, crocodile and kangaroo at Harry's Place. Harry's Homemade. Harry's Homemade, just outside of Port Pirie. At Port Augusta. It's beautiful. Heading to Coober Pedy. Massive landscape changes just coming up, and, uh, we'll make it. We're about a day, a day and a half behind to get to Alice, but you know, it is what it is. It's beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Pimba Roadhouse on the way to Cooper Pedy in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely literally in the middle of nowhere. It's bloody beautiful. Magnificent. In the middle of nowhere again. Just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Headed to Coober Pedy. Well, we'll stop halfway. And you come up over a hill and in the middle of nowhere is this great expanse of salt and water, Lake Eyre. Unbelievable.
