#47 Spiritual Encounters and Spiritual Beings in the Outback.

This content was created by Dr. John A. King. This content was uploaded by Dr. John A. King. This is a YouTube video titled "#47 Spiritual Encounters and Spiritual Beings in the Outback." (posted Nov 11, 2023) featuring Dr. John A. King speaking in first person about multiple supernatural experiences while traveling in the Australian Outback. He recounts visions and encounters — including Indigenous spirit beings (Bundjalung/’Imbrani’ references), “whirly-whirlies,” “furry women,” feather men, elders emerging from rock, and ritual practices (branch‑brushing analogous to smoking ceremonies) — and frames these alongside his Christian faith and emotional responses at sites of historical trauma. He also mentions companions and local people in passing but the excerpt is a single-speaker narrative rather than a multi-person dialogue.

I'm going to chronicle some of the supernatural things I've seen in this whole process, part of this whole cold journey of what's been going on. So the first one started in Mossville, and I was down there, I was picking up firewood, and I thought I was— my connection was with a coastal group of Umbrani or Aboriginal folk called Bundjalung, which would have been seawater dreaming people tied into the coastal areas. And I was out picking up firewood and I reached down to pick up some very red timber and I picked it up and I put it— I put my hand on it. The moment I put my hand on it, I had this vision. It was of a large gum tree and sitting at the base of this gum tree was an Imbrani, an Aboriginal family, and they were sitting around there. And it went like one of these fast-forward through history sort of things you see as a movie effect. There was a family sitting there, she was nursing a child, then other people walked up and there was a fire, then big groups and the family grew, and then all the seasons sort of changing between this. And then some colonial people came up, some invaders came up, slaughtered them, crying at the tree, went away, fire came back. And then all of a sudden this thought came, like the tree was speaking to me, saying, I've been here a very long time. I was to find out that that particular tree had been harvested On the border of Queensland and the Northern Territory. It only grew in the Northern Territory-Queensland border. I didn't know that at the time. So that was, was that one. That was in the very first journey, the very first time we came over here. Now, since I've been here, I've seen some incredible things, some very supernatural things, beings, entities, um, as it were, um, I've seen beings float out of rocks when I've walked into a particular area where I was new. I wasn't known to them. I wasn't known by skin name or family or connection. I've heard, seen whirly-whirlies spin with the sound of children's voices coming from them, and I would talk to them and the whirly-whirlies would come towards me and go away. I've seen, forget their name, the, the Umbrani name for it, but They call them small furry women. We went to a women's site and we came back here, and then I woke up with a start, and then there was this darkness sitting in a tree with little tiny beady eyes. Darkness. And I just— and, uh, I explained that to, uh, one of my brothers later on, and he said it was, uh, what they call the furry women. They followed back to have a look at our marriage and our relationship and make sure that Mel was, was right for me. And then just recently, there's been some trouble in town with some of my brothers. And so we were sitting out, I came out here and we went to bed and I'm lying in bed. Then all of a sudden the whole tent gets filled, my tent, my cabin gets filled with spiders and flying ants. I mean, crawling over me and I was praying against them and brushing them off and it sort of stopped. But then I started to choke. Praying against that. And then I just got pissed off and just got up. I thought, okay, I need to deal with this spiritually. And so I did. And I walked around the camp. And what Imbrani do is they get a branch. In Wurramangu, in other parts, they would do a smoking ceremony. So we don't do that. We get a branch with leaves on it and we brush the ground. It's a little bit like oil in the New Testament. The fire and incense in the Old Testament. So it's a connection between heaven and earth. It's a touchstone. It's a point of contact for the faith. So I'm talking in the Holy Ghost, praying and touching the ground and walking around my tent. And I walk around it and I come to the back and it's a clear, absolutely clear, beautiful full moon night. And there's like a 200-yard driveway that you can see down. And normally it would have been flooded with moonlight, but I'm standing there and it stops. The moonlight stops at about 25 yards into this thing, 25 meters into it. And here's this being. It's about 6 or 7 feet tall, furry forearms, legs, but the legs are like emu legs. They go backwards. Piercing red eyes. And it's menacing. And I knew this thing was here for me because we'd been talking about different things that had happened downtown. And so I just commanded it to go, just took spiritual authority over it, as I know to do as a Christian man, and just commanded that thing to go. And it was to come up later that there was feather men. There's a particular feather man in town who doesn't like my brother and has been involved in voodoo and witchcraft and stuff like that. So that was interesting. But what was really interesting was when I talked about the whirly-whirlies. What are whirly-whirlies? And those voices, those ancestors, because the Umbrani believe that whirly-whirlies are ancestors, it's spirit beings. It's just, it's just been interesting. It's— I'm a spiritual man, I'm a Christian man. I've had encounters with the supernatural before, many encounters with the supernatural, with demonic, with the presence of God, with miracles, signs, and wonders. But what has been interesting is walking on this land And how closely veiled it is, or how thinly veiled it is between the natural and the supernatural, how it's all one existence. You float in and out. When I was out here before, there's this moon dreaming, and I was walking back from there, and I turned around to my right and I literally saw these 6 figures, 6, maybe a dozen figures, I can't remember, float out of the rock. And they were elders, old men with spears and swords— spears, not swords, spears and shields. And, um, and then they started— they just stood there, and I had to reassure them that I meant no harm. And here I was, Djungarai. I was on Jason's property, and we're together. And then it sort of— we were in the dark trying to get back to the camp, and once we left there, we sort of knew where we were going. What was interesting the other day is with these whirly-whirlies that I thought were children running off, I'd gone purposely to find goanna to eat, and I'd never hunted goanna. I don't know how to track goanna. I'm not Imbrani. I've never grown up with this. I just purposed to go and do this. And there's this whirly-whirly wind, and I called back and asked it to come back, said, don't be scared of me. And this whirly-whirly sort of turned around and came back a little bit and then disappeared. And then I turned straight around, and there instantly I saw a goanna. And, um, so it's just interesting. It's just interesting. I find it fascinating how thinly veiled— I've always believed that the, the world we're in is really a pretense or a shadow of the real world, the spiritual world. I've always believed that. I've always been a spiritual man, that there are forces greater at work in our universe and in our world. But to be in a place, an environment where the veil is so thin, I think Western society, Western culture We fill it with so much crap and so much noise, and we don't give ourselves time to sit and listen to spiritual things and to be spiritual people. We're created; the Creator made us. We are spiritual beings, and to be in an environment, a country, where the spiritual is everywhere, thinly veiled, the Imbrani have no problem with demonic. Spiritual things, miraculous things. It's part of their everyday life. And, um, they don't talk about it with, oh well, this thing happened. They just talk about it like, you can speak to goanna and the goanna will stop so you can grab it by the tail. You can speak to echidna in language so the echidna will roll on its back and open up its legs so you don't get your hands spiky, so you can kill it in the heart. Um, you can speak to whirligig, like whirligig, massive ones coming towards your camp and stop it. Or have it split so it misses your camp. And I'm not talking— these are stories that someone said, someone said. These are stories that my brother saw growing up as children. Um, so it's just a different reality. Um, the encounter with spiritual beings has been very interesting, and I'm sure that won't stop, um, in different ways. I was out at a site the other day And there was just a sense of the weight of the place. I remember going to one site where kids were massacred, stolen from their families, taken from their families, and I remember weeping uncontrollably. And it wasn't until I found out what had happened there that I understood the grief that I felt. And it's literally like you're just walking through like a waterfall, and you walk through, and then all of a sudden you're on the other side and things are different. Then he come back through it. So interesting.
