I'm here with Donnie Hilsdenroth, and he's going to share his one-shot story with us. All right, my one-shot story is, you know, I'm a career firefighter here in town and always been involved in athletics and physical— being in top physical shape. So I compete, it's called the Firefighter Combat Challenge, and each year, you know, you try to be the best in the whole world. You know, you train yourself and push yourself to the limits to be in— to want to be the top 10 guys in the world. Yeah. You know, to be number 1, yeah, you're going to do everything you can to get into shape to be the best. You know, and that goes hand in hand with being a firefighter. You got one shot. We're on scene, we pull up to a fire, 3 kids are in the house. You know, my guys rely on me. We rely on each other for that one opportunity to save people. You know, to be a person that also individually and to work together as a team to be strong. You got one shot. You're going to get out of that truck, get your gear, you're geared up, ready to go. And being in the top physical shape to do my job in order to save a life, to risk my own to save someone else. You know, I take that mentality when I come to work out every day. That's in the back of my mind, to push yourself as hard as you can, because if someone's relying on me and counting on me, I'm going to be there. Now athletically, it goes hand in hand. Like I said, you're working out, pushing yourself to be the best. And when you go out there and compete, you go through 7 different, like, obstacles. You got all your gear on and you're pushing yourself, and then when you get really tired, In the back of your mind, you're thinking, hey man, this is my one shot to be the best, to run the fastest time. Not all the time does that happen. A lot of times it does, but in the back of your mind, you have to know that, you know, you have to believe in yourself, be in that top physical shape, and just do it and push through it. That's my one shot, being the best at the Firefighter Combat Challenge and to be the best firefighter teammate In, in order to save somebody's life.
