Forrest Weeg One Shot Story

Forrest Weeg shares how single parenthood and reconnecting with his faith shaped him. He talks about raising his son after separation, struggling through his son's adolescence, and using his bodybuilding background to inspire others.
I'm here with Forrest Wiege, and he wants to share his one-shot story.
My story actually is twofold. My first one was when my son actually was born, and he was 2 years old, his mother and me separated. And my opportunity was to actually raise him as a single father.
Wow.
So I had him 24/7. His mother moved out of the area, so, you know, there wasn't a visitation. It worked out really well since she moved so far away. I had to take the opportunity to obviously try to live my life. Obviously, I'm into bodybuilding and I take that kind of serious as much as I can, but I knew I had to be dad first and try to integrate some of my time I needed for myself to feel whole.
Yeah.
I had to raise him. I always looked at it as, back in them days, obviously that wasn't something normal for people to be the father being the sole provider. Obviously, I always looked at it as these kids didn't come to this earth, we brought them here.
That's awesome, Forrest, man.
I needed to do that. Luckily, I have family in the area, but it's not their job either. It was my job.
That's big, bro. That's big.
So, you know, and I look back and any parent would, and, you know, hopefully you did the best you can for them. You know, there's plenty of things I hope I did right, but I know there's plenty of things I could have did better.
We always know those, don't we?
So in those struggles, you know, obviously there's struggles with him, you know, as a teenager when he got to be the 16s, 17s where—
They know everything.
They know everything. And just my personal life as well, I struggled. It's like I always had a faith and I was raised Catholic. I always had a faith in God and I always prayed to him knowing that he knows everything and it's his time. And I just, I wasn't going to church. And about 4 years ago, I just, I run out of answers for myself and I said, Lord, what am I supposed to do? I don't have any more answers. And all of a sudden it just dawned on me, why am I not going to church and developing my relationship with our God? So, you know, people might take offense to, you know, God and they think that, you know, you know how society is nowadays, but I don't take offense to it. It's just, it's, I believe in God and I believe there's a reason for everything and he's really the one in charge. So now I try to live my life walking that path. Of, you know what, I don't have the answers. It's not my time. It's all in His time. And I look to Him for my strength. And that's really, at this point in time, what I'm trying to do is really grow in that journey that I know I'm really at the start of, that there's a long ways to go in that journey with God. And hopefully I can do the best I can for Him. And use, obviously, maybe some of the things that I've learned, the bodybuilding and things like that, to use this as a tool to actually bring more people to God. Because it gives you the opportunity to talk to people. So that's really what I try to do is, this isn't what I've done, it's what he's done. So that's really my story, you know, in a nutshell.
That's awesome, Forrest. Thanks, mate. Great one-shot. Thank you very much.
