Dr. John A. King explains why reading books and attending workshops rarely change anything. Information becomes transformation only when it becomes a personal revelation, gets applied daily, and eventually rewires your habits and identity.

There's a very simple principle that I discovered in my journey towards what I feel I'm successful at, success being the passionate pursuit of a worthwhile goal, be it personally, be that goal financially, relationally, that has really revolutionized how I approach anything. Change isn't change until it's change. And you can talk about change, you can read about change, you can attend a change workshop or change conference, but unless you actually change, it's just not change. So the first part is the gathering of information. We're great consumers of information. As you can see behind me, I've got books, rows and rows of books, and every 12 months I go and I dump a whole bunch more back in a secondhand bookshop. Or just give them away because I've acquired and gained this information. And I'd go through stages of reading things and reading things and not seeing change in a particular area. And it's like, why? I'd even read that information and go, oh, that's brilliant. That's the best thing that I've ever read on that particular thing. It was great. And nothing, no change. It's not until information becomes personal revelation and then application or the applied personal truth makes its way into your everyday life and even your being a soul that actually brings about transformation. You can acquire a whole bunch of information, but unless you own it and then apply it, it will never transform or change your life. Very simple principle. Information Revelation, application, transformation.
