Ned Sacipovic One Shot

Ned Sacipovic fled Belgrade in 1998 with his family during the war, then years later walked into a gym and asked owner Todd Tryon for a trainer job. Two moments, both taken, both changed everything.
I'm here with my partner in crime, Ned Sakapovic, talking about his one-shot story. Ned is becoming a fast friend and a fellow journeyman in the one-shot story world and community. A great friend and just some incredible multiple one-shot stories.
I want to tell you 2 one-shot stories for me. My very, very crucial, the one that saved my life, was in 1998 when I moved from Belgrade, Yugoslavia to the United States. So I had that one time, that one shot at leaving my ex-country. There was a nasty war and there was all, you know, I did not take any sides. I didn't pick any sides. I just never thought that killing another human being for a piece of land is justifiable by anybody, any religion, any culture, anybody. So therefore, my family, we just wanted to leave. So we had that one shot in leaving our country in 1998 to come to the United States for a better life. And we took the shot and thank God, it turned out great for us. We got here. Another second— my second one-shot story would be in 2012— 2002, 2003, I cannot remember the years now. So I'm living in the United States at this point. I'm living the American dream. But also, I had a dream to become a trainer and a coach. A personal trainer was my first passion, and then as I became a personal trainer, I grew into the bigger business. There's a bigger picture to it, as you know, John. So, how all this started for me was I heard about this guy named Todd Tryon, the guy that owns the gym that we're at right now. He was a very successful man. He was opening multiple gyms. He was doing multi-level marketing, Advocare Supplements, et cetera. He was pretty much successful at whatever he was doing. I really wanted to work one of his gyms, which is the gym where we're at right now. So I told myself, you know what? I'm going to take a shot. I'm going to talk to a Todd Tryon. Then ask him, hey, if you need a trainer, I would like to work for you. So I took that one shot. I'm not sure, I can't remember the years. It could be 2004 or '05, but it's been well over 6 years, about 8 years from now. So I took that one shot at going and talking to Todd and just asked him, hey, I would like to come and work for you. I want to become a trainer. And this is the reasons why you should have me on your staff. Luckily, Todd was generous enough to give me the one shot.
That's great.
He let me train. He also gave me some hours. So pretty much today, where I'm at with my training business and everything I have, It's on that one shot of me asking somebody to give me that one shot to work here. My two-shot stories are— they're obviously two different stories, but they're also the same on that one shot, meaning I had this one shot at leaving the country for a better life. Then I had the opportunity for another shot to live another dream. So in our lifetime, there will be plenty of life's one shots. We just need to take them. We just need to go ask to do what we need to do to be better. Yeah, that's good. So, and here I am today. I am living in the United States because I did take the one shot leaving my country. I'm having a job of my dreams. And both my dreams, they came true because I took that one shot.
