Hey, how you doing? So, 1-minute book review. New book by my mate BJ Slane, The Unfavored Children's Club. All right, here we go. The brilliant bollocks meter, and it is a full brilliant, full send, ladies and gentlemen. Here's why. First of all, I don't normally read this sort of stuff. That's a good reason why. Writers should always be reading, and they always need to read outside their genre. This is definitely outside my genre, and I thought it was very Interesting on both a technical and a personal level. Love the story. Love the arc of the story. Love the setting, Fort Worth, Texas. Y'all. My wife says I'm not allowed to say that. So, well, PJ does a couple of things that are really interesting. It's really difficult to write a novel with multiple characters and not have to go through all this exposition crap to try and keep the reader up to speed and not get them lost In a cast of a few. She does a brilliant job of this. Totally unique story. I've never read anything like it, so I really like that as well. She does description really well. Pacing is really, really good. Great pace. Like, it's constant. It's got all the arc stuff, all that sort of trope they tell you in, you know, bloody writers, whatever it is. But she does it really well. She paces it well. Her language and her grasp of language is very good. It got me at the first First sentence, here it is. My mother's voice, tight as a piano string, rings across the lawn from her front porch. I mean, it had me. So there you go, Unfavourite Children's Club. I've got a link to the website, BJ's website, below. I think you're gonna have to sign up because I think it's just coming out in the process of it. So get your copy. Cheers. Full brilliant.
