Morpheus 8 combines radiofrequency and microneedling to tighten skin and boost collagen. Pain is mild with numbing cream applied an hour before, and there's usually no downtime. Some people get temporary grid marks from heat; antihistamines like Zyrtec beforehand and hydrocortisone cream after can help.

Hi everyone, I'm Ava. I'm the licensed master esthetician here at the Nadiri center and I just want to go over a few commonly asked questions about Morpheus 8. What is Morpheus and what does it even do? So Morpheus is radio frequency technology. It combines radio frequency, which has been proven for skin tightening and collagen stimulation, as well as microneedling, which does all of the same things. When you combine the two together, you get a treatment that lifts, tones, tightens, contours, smooths, and just overall improves and anti ages the skin. It's a really, really nice treatment. It's pretty non invasive and it's safe for all skin types and tones. Does it hurt? A little bit. I mean, personally I do Morpheus to myself and I don't use numbing, but I'm the anomaly. When our patients come in, we do numbing cream for about an hour before the treatment and it typically does pretty well for them. If someone's more sensitive, they can just take some Tylenol extra strength before coming in and that also helps with pain management during the treatment. But more or less everyone is able to tolerate the treatment pretty well. So is any downtime after this treatment? Typically, no. However, if you do get your skin hot following the treatment, you may end up with a histamine reaction or grid marks. Grid marks are not permanent, they're very temporary. And what ends up happening is maybe two days after you've had the treatment. If you do manage to get your skin hot without realizing that you've gotten your skin hot, whether it's working out, taking a hot shower, sleeping on your face, or on your side, wherever we do the treatment, if you manage to generate heat and trap heat in the skin after the treatment, you are probably going to get these grid marks. And there's a couple of ways to alleviate the grid mark or to just prevent them from happening. Number one, if you have a history of getting the histamine reaction, pre treat yourself. Take Zyrtec or Benadryl a few days leading up to the treatment, as well as a few days following the treatment. That really does help kind of clamp down on that problem. If you notice the grid marks pop up even after you've pre treated yourself, you can do a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream once a day on the affected area and make sure to keep your skin cool. If you are prone to grid marks and you do get grid marks, what you'll notice is even after they subside and fade, if you do get your skin hot again, they will flare up again. It's a histamine reaction. It's going to move with your body, but it will eventually resolve. Are there any other things to keep in mind after doing Morpheus Sunscreen? You have to wear sunscreen. Morpheus does make your skin more sun sensitive. It is still a pretty aggressive treatment even though it's non invasive. So make sure you're wearing your sunscreen and make sure you keep your skin cool. With all of that being said, Morpheus 8 is still one of my favorite treatments. It really does transform the skin.
