Hi, I'm Dr. Jessica Culac. Today we're going to talk about Kybella. Kybella is an injection that's used to help take away some of the fullness in the submental area. It's actually an injection that makes the fat cells release the fat, and the fat is then cleared away by the body over the course of a couple of weeks. And where you start to see that contour improvement, this is pretty minimal example. I mean, she only has a very small amount of fullness that bothers her, but she wants more definition of the chin. And in certain positions, she feels that there's some. So we're gonna just do a very small amount of Kybella to just get more definition in this area. The injection does cause a good amount of swelling. So I do recommend that patients, when they're doing Kybella, that they. They know about, that usually the swelling will last around three to four days after the injection. And then over in the next couple weeks, you'll start to see some of the changes that the Kybella is doing. To make this more of a comfortable injection, I use a little lidocaine that I inject into the tissue before I start the Kybella because there is a burning sensation after I finish the injection. That lasts for around 15, 20 minutes. And the lidocaine really helps blunt that. So we're going to start with that. This is not the Cabela. This is just the lidocaine. Not too bad. Nope. The lidocaine gives a numbing sensation, which, you know, I didn't numb the whole area, but we also did a topical numbing, and that helps. A lot of people sometimes will even just do the topical. But I think that lidocaine really helps just with the comfort for that burning sensation, really right after I finish the Kybella. This is the Kybella injection. As you can see, to set up for the Kybella injection, we had a grid pattern that was placed. She's only got a small area fullness. So that's all the dots that I have left. I've outlined the border of the mandible that we're trying to get definition, and that also outlines areas that we don't want to inject the Kybella because there's no fat there. So the Kybella really needs to be injected deep into the skin, past the skin, into the fat and the. The skin. So any area where there's no fat, you can't really inject the Kybella. And it really can only be used to really make the contour better by getting rid of the Fullness that's related to the fat. So you can see some of these dots. So I, starting with the first injection point, go all the way through the skin, inject it into the F, And reject even amounts of 0.2 to each of the injection points to create an even. Dissolving of the fad. Then I have my assistant hand me the next one. So we keep track of the dots. I try not to pierce right directly through the dots because just so we don't accidentally get any of the ink, or it's not really ink, but just the dot dye in through the skin. It's. Okay. That's it. Perfect. And let's take some ice. And that's it. We're gonna put some ice on. How's it feeling? Feels good. Do you feel a little burning sensation? Just very slightly. Good. We're just doing some ice. Ice helps take it away. Pretty helps improve the sensation of that burning. And usually by the time most people leave the office, this. This feels pretty comfortable. It is normal to expect some tenderness afterwards and definitely to see some swelling. Already you can start to see some swelling in the area. Most of that's actually due to the fluid that was injected, but this can definitely get more full over the next couple days. And then by the time she comes back in a couple of weeks, we'll hopefully start to see some contour improvement. Thank you.
