Dr. Shervin Naderi, a board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastics and reconstructive surgeon practicing in Northern Virginia, introduces a YouTube video series intended to educate patients about facial plastic surgery. He emphasizes the importance of informed patients, warns about over-hyped marketing and potential harms (scarring, deformation, neurologic deficits), and states the series will cover minimally invasive procedures first, then more surgically involved topics, while teaching viewers to ask directed questions when consulting surgeons.

Hello, My name is Dr. Sherben Nadari. I'm a board certified and fellowship trained facial plastics and reconstructive surgeon practicing in Northern Virginia. We are going to present you with a series of instructional and informational videos that will be available on a constant basis and will add to it on this website. My goal is to provide visual education to be an adjunct to the ward and content of this website. I believe that educating patients today is extremely important because everybody is constantly being bombarded with ads over hyped procedures and marketing campaigns by a lot of different sources that promise the world and often deliver very little and best case scenario their results may be marginal and at worst case scenario they may leave you with horrible scars, deformation or even neurologic deficits. And we'll talk about some of these procedures in the coming months. My goal is to make sure that everybody walks into their plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon's office fully equipped with a series of directed questions so you can best use your time and get the most useful information and most specific answers from your cosmetic surgeon. I think cosmetic surgery is a wonderful field when used appropriately and moderately, and there are many, many wonderful procedures that add to each patient's quality of life. But the downside is that there are many, many procedures out there that can horribly disfigure and ruin your quality of life as well. And through the next several months, through these instructional videos, I hope to be present some of this unbiased information to you. We will speak initially about the more minimally invasive procedures and then work our way into the more surgically involved procedures. Thank you for your.
