Restylane vs Radiesse dermal filler demonstration in Chevy Chase Maryland

Dr. Shervin Naderi compares Restylane and Radiesse fillers side by side, showing how hyaluronic acid feels softer and more natural while Radiesse offers firmer support for structural areas like cheeks and jaw. A 2 cc syringe of Restylane holds about a teaspoon of product.

Good morning. We're going to demonstrate a quick difference between hyaluronic acid and other types of fillers. And I have radius, which is the other very common type of filler. There's two types of fillers that we use. Hyaluronic acids, Restylane, Juvederm, Voluma. These are all hyaluronic acid, including Belotera. The other ones are artifil, silicone, Radiesse, etc. But the two most famous ones are really going to be Radiesse versus the two most common common hyaluronic acids, Restylane and Juvederm. So let's take a look at how these consistencies are different. I'm a huge fan of hyaluronic acid versus the other fillers because I think they're more soft, more natural, more pliable, and you'll see why. Also, I want to demonstrate the issue of volume. A lot of times people come in and say, oh, my God, a whole syringe. That sounds a lot. But I keep demonstrating and keep pointing out that 1 cc, 2 cc, even 3 cc's of fillers is really very little. One teaspoon is 5 cc. So, truly, if I'm recommending a couple of syringes, it's not that much, and I'm going to demonstrate that to you. So let's take a look. We have a 2cc syringe of Restin. If you step closer, you can see it better. These come in sterile syringes, so I've demonstrated this before. It's a 2cc, which is actually a rare syringe. Most of the syringes come in one cc. We did have some two cc's and they come with very small needles. These needles are very, very tiny inside. But for demonstration purposes, I just want to show you the consistency. If you come very close, you'll be able to see better. And here's a teaspoon. And here we have the consistency. Very soft, very natural. You can see. And this is again, two cc's. So technically, this would be two syringes for most practical purposes. I want you to see it. That's it. Two syringes is just that. It's not a lot. You can see what you would get with two cc's of hyaluronic acid. As you feel it, it's very soft, very natural, kind of feels. It's just very natural. I mean, I can't even demonstrate it on the camera. You just have to feel it. It feels better than toothpaste. It's just an amazing Feeling substance. And when it goes inside the lips and the nose and the cheeks, feels very natural. Now let's do the same and do it with radius. Radius is essentially bone cement, if you will. It also comes in different syringe sizes. What we have here is almost 1 cc, 0.8 cc, which is almost 1 cc. Comes with a larger needle. It's a thicker substance, so it takes a larger needle to inject it. It also comes in a sterile and a little tougher to open. But essentially, here is radius. And you can see it's white. It's a white, heavy, chalky substance. And as you inject it, we'll put it side by side here. This is 0.8 cc's. It's a. You see if it. Even as it goes in, it's a little less smooth as it goes in. This is the material. It's thicker, it's heavier. That's Radiesse. So on one side we have Radiesse, on the other side we have Restylane. Juvederm is almost identical. They have strength and support to themselves. They're not liquids. They don't just fall apart. But this one is softer. Radius is definitely a thicker material. It's more glue, like it's more chalk, like it's bone cement. It feels firmer inside the face. Definitely not for the lips, definitely not for the teardrops. A lot of people do use it for the cheeks. They use it for other parts of the face to jaw. The chin, it's okay. There's nothing wrong with that, but I just prefer the hyaluronic acid mostly, essentially. That's a little quick demonstration between Radiesse and Restylane, and I hope you enjoyed that. Thank you.
