I've embraced the world of functional medicine and wellness through my own personal health journey, and I'm super excited to share my wisdom and unique perspective as it pertains to women's health. After caring for thousands of women, I've come to realize that your gut health determines your gyn health and your overall And it's a super gutsy thing for me to go against conventional gynecology practice to bring you the truth. No more Band-Aid medicine, ladies. We're talking root cause resolution on this show. So if you're struggling with hormone imbalance, weight gain, period issues, anxiety, insomnia, you name it, then you've come to the right place. And I want to be your gutsy gynecologist. So welcome.
Hi, Tabatha.
You have influence, okay? Whether you believe it or not, you have major influence on all of the people that are in your life and in your world. So as women, we influence our spouses, our partners, our children, our friends, our coworkers, our employees, our bosses. It doesn't matter who holds the power necessarily when it comes to work and financial relationships and hierarchies of families. You still have the power to influence, and I really want this to sink in in a deep, profound way because you can harness So much potential from this concept if you really understand that the woman makes the house, she makes the home. And this goes for people who don't have conventional families or whatever. Like, literally think about how people influence you, right? Say you are trying to go gluten-free. That's hard to say. Because you want to see if it's going to affect how you're feeling. And your best girlfriend says to you, oh, what is one little cookie going to hurt? It's no big deal. Most of us would say, yeah, you're right, it's not a big deal. Let me just have it. She influenced you to change your decision and what you're— you were going to do. She changed your behavior because of a few words that she said. And just as we can influence people to make bad decisions, poor decisions, we can influence them to make better decisions and better choices and really change their lives. So I have women who, you know, they'll do the Healthy Her program, they'll work with us and they'll feel amazing. And then they'll say, okay, now I need you to work on my husband. And when I see the husbands, I will just tell you, like, they are impressed and excited because of what they've seen their wife do and what she's capable of. And they were already incorporating the changes. They were already dabbling with the diet changes and moving their body more or realizing they needed to navigate and handle their stress. And I want you just to understand you have influence. You can change the trajectory of what's going on in your family. And bigger than just like health and diet and movement, our attitude can shift everything that's going on in the house, right? It will shift how the children How the children's day goes, how the spouse's day goes.
Oh my gosh!
I remember when I was practicing conventional OB-GYN, you know, people loved me. They wanted me to deliver my babies. I felt really important. That felt really good. And so I would special people, meaning I would be on call and deliver their babies when I was supposed to be resting and taking care of myself. Or there was oftentimes I was on call every other night, and I was in survival mode. Survival mode. I was very, very miserable because I was neglecting myself big time, and I was so sleep deprived that I had no patience. And so my poor little children, who were only two and three years old, you know they were pretty small at the time. The littlest thing would set me off in the morning, and instead of having a nice beautiful morning, which is you know one of the only times that I saw them. I had a stressed out morning. I was short-tempered. I was snapping at them. And I was sending, oftentimes sending them off to daycare crying or upset and not setting them up for a good day. So I just invite you to think about how is your mood setting the mood of the house? How are your feelings and your neglect affecting your family? Is it spilling over into how you interact with your children or your partner or your employees or your friends or your parents? Because I promise you, self-neglect really gets old after a while. You start to resent people and you get angry at yourself and then you feel guilty. And you just spiral down all these negative, nasty emotions, and none of it's necessary. Like, I want you to flip the script. I want you to look at your life in a different way. I want you to view self-care as selfless. I know everybody thinks it's selfish to put yourself first, but it's actually not. It's selfless to put yourself first because then you always fill from a full cup. You always have The emotional capacity to give to your children and to all the people that you love. You have the ability to show up as your best self that they deserve from you. They're not getting the empty, broken, angry, bitter, resentful part of you. So self-care is mandatory. Self-care is selfless. I want you to get out a schedule, get a calendar out, and write yourself in there with a pen, not a pencil. Every single day, I need you on your schedule doing something for you. You know, my life is insane right now. I keep having all kinds of shifts happening because I'm trying to grow, grow, grow, and reach all of you women. And literally, I need to put myself first. So as much as I don't want to make the time, I make the time and it pays off in dividends because then I'm able to show up Full, whole, complete, happy, and ready to conquer the world. So I really would love for you to do that and then message me and let me know, what did you start doing that is so selfless that has had an impact on the people that you love? Because once you see that impact on other people, then you'll want to keep doing it and you'll realize it's not selfish to go and exercise in the morning before everybody else wakes up. It's not selfish. to meal prep on the weekends and take some time. It's not selfish to go for a walk and meditate on the word or do whatever brings you joy. It's actually just filling you back up so you can pour out again. So I know this was a quick little episode, but it was like really heavy on my heart that I feel like women, you just need to hear that. You can totally put yourself as a priority, even if you never have. It's okay. And your family and your loved ones will be so much better off because of it. Now, you might have to sit down and explain it to them. If they are used to you just putting them always first, you might have to have a conversation to say, you know what, I'm going to have to miss This one game or this one meeting, or somebody else is gonna like drive you in the mornings, like whatever needs to shift. Just own it and say, because mommy needs to take care of herself, or your wife needs to be happy. And so this is what I need to do. So I invite you to consider doing that. Because you only get one life. And I heard something recently. It's like 6 months is going to pass no matter what you do. You know, today is today, and in 6 months you're going to be a different person. So you can either harness that 6 months and make the most of it, or you can keep doing what you're doing and you'll be the same person in 6 months. So do you want to be the same? Or do you want to be different? And different could be worse or it could be better. And so whatever you do during that time is going to determine who you are when that time passes. So I hope you start to just harness this time, make the most of it, because it could be gone tomorrow. It really, really could. So, all right, I love you guys.
