The Missing Piece of Fertility with Elizabeth King

This is a recorded interview (YouTube/podcast) hosted by Dr. Tabatha Barber with guest Elizabeth King, a certified fertility health coach, ICF life coach, birth and bereavement doula and new parent educator. They discuss rising infertility (host cites “one in eight women” having trouble conceiving), contributors such as chronic stress, environmental toxins, later childbearing, and gaps in conventional care. King emphasizes a holistic mind–body–spirit approach—addressing cortisol/stress, subconscious/energetic blocks, relationship and life-context issues, and grief support after miscarriage. They cover coaching formats, collaboration with medical teams, alternatives (IVF, donor eggs, IUI), and resources: ElizabethKing.com, Instagram @ElizabethKingCoaching, and the Fertility Coach Academy.

Hi, I'm Dr. Tabitha, the gutsy gynecologist. I'm a triple board certified, OB, GYN and Functional Medicine physician. I've embraced the world of functional medicine and wellness through my own personal health journey. And I'm super excited to share my wisdom and unique perspective as it pertains to women's health. After caring for thousands of women, I've come to realize that your gut health determines your gyne health and your overall health. And it's a super gutsy thing for me to go against conventional gynecology practice to bring you the truth. No more band aid medicine, ladies. We're talking root cause resolution on this show. So if you're struggling with hormone imbalance, weight gain, period issues, anxiety, insomnia, you name it, then you've come to the right place. And I want to be your gutsy gynecologist. So welcome. All right, ladies. Today we are talking about fertility. So it is a really important topic now more than ever. Infertility rates are on the rise. One in eight women are having trouble getting pregnant. And there's many reasons for it. And you know, medically we've done a lot of amazing, we've made a lot of amazing advancements medically to treat this, to take care of it. Right, to get you pregnant. But we haven't done a really good job at figuring out why women are infertile and how to support a return to natural fertility. So that is something my guest today is very passionate about and she's going to talk about. But the bigger missing piece of it is beyond the science and the medical studies off of like healing your gut and balancing your hormones and taking your vitamins. There is a spiritual piece, there's a bigger, energetic piece of how we show up in the world and how our energy connects with the energy of the universe and how our subconscious plays into how things play out in our lives. And so, so I'm really excited about my guest today because she is got this dialed in. This is what she does when she works with women who need help with their fertility. She focuses on that piece of it. And it's really beautiful how when this clicks with you and you are aligned energetically with the universe, you get pregnant, things open up, the world expands. So you do have to do all the work that we've talked about on other episodes. So key and vital to physically getting pregnant and carrying a healthy baby and having an amazing outcome. But there is another piece there and we also touch a little bit on pregnancy loss and miscarriage and how that's mishandled in conventional gynecology. And so just a little warning, it might, you know, stir up some emotions for people because as women, I think that we're expected to just, you know, brush it off and move on if we've had a loss and not really talk about it and just try again. And my, my guest today is a bereavement doula and so she's trained in how to handle this kind of situation. So a lot of really eye opening insight today. You're going to love this conversation, so stick with me. Hit the subscribe button if you haven't. That lets itunes know that you want to hear more about this and that this is important to you. I'd be super honored if you'd leave me a five star review and send me a review, you know, your, your questions, your comments. I love all of that. So follow me at the Gutsy Gynecologist on Instagram and TikTok and follow my guest today. The links are in the show notes, but her name is Elizabeth King and she has a podcast called Pretty Little Tribes. You can check that out. If fertility is like your deal, your journey right now. So let me just shout out about Elizabeth really quick. That doesn't work. I just covered up my camera. So. Elizabeth King is a certified fertility health coach master, certified ICF life coach, birth and bereavement doula, and new parent educator. Since 2008, her mission has been to help people of all backgrounds conceive a healthy baby and carry to term. She supports clients through natural fertility, infertility, ivf, miscarriage support, early pregnancy, PTSD, and new parent support. She's in Irvine, California, but she sees women all over the world same way I do, virtually. So it's absolutely amazing. Please connect with her if her story resonates with you today and what she says because it's very moving and this piece isn't talked about enough. And so I'm really excited. Here we go. Well, welcome Elizabeth, to the Gutsy Gynecologist Show.
Thank you so much for having me.
I'm really excited to talk about fertility because what I have seen over the past few decades is it's just increasing. Infertility is increasing and I would love to talk about what are the major reasons you're seeing that. So welcome.
Thank you. Thank you for bringing awareness to this topic of infertility or as I like to say, fertility, because I believe that everybody can be fertile in different ways. So I think there's a lot of different things. One I think really is Just the stress level that we now maintain our lives as women, which we are more so than ever before and our bodies are really not meant to be under this amount of stress and do all of these things and live such a masculine life. So we're doing all these things and yet we still expect our body to show up in a feminine way to conceive. And so I think there's a lot of that, I think there's a lot of hormone disruptors and things that we've gone through in the past which our mothers, grandmothers didn't really have all that much in their system as we have come to the table with. So I think there's a lot of different aspects that are causing it. But again, just bringing the awareness and having people educate themselves more on their own bodies and understanding things that we weren't taught in school helps them to know what to expect when they do get ready to conceive.
I feel like, oh yeah, definitely. Well, I want to unpack all of that because I couldn't agree more. I mean, we don't give enough credit to the stress has on our health. But I love when women share their pain to purpose stories because I feel like women can relate and learn so much from it. They can often see their own struggles in our stories. So you're obviously here doing this work for a reason. What got you here?
You know, it's an interesting story. My sister just texted me yesterday, do you know what January 4th was? And it was her 27 year anniversary of being diagnosed with a rare terminal lung cancer cell in her cervix. And at the time I was 19 years old and no one still is living on the planet that has had this cancer that she was diagnosed with. So it's really a true miracle that she's still here. But that was my first introduction, so to speak, to fertility infertility. My first thought at 19, not knowing anything about surrogacy was I'll have a baby for you. Don't, don't worry, like we'll do this. And there was four sisters. There is four sisters. And we actually spoke to the fertility doctor at that time and he said the DNA of if you took all the eggs and did all this, you know, it would really, you wouldn't know whose was who essentially. Long story short, none of us had children at the time. There's very strict guidelines around that and therefore that didn't end up happening. But that was really my intro to this whole experience of, you know, they did a radical hysterectomy and saved her ovaries. But I remember we were at the beach again. This was very early in her process of radiation and chemo. And they had said, you need to put a towel over your stomach because of the radiation that you've had for your ovaries. And I remember thinking again, at 19, 20 years old, there's no way that these ovaries are going to survive if we have to put a towel over her stomach to smell. So, you know, help preserve them, so to speak. But I think that was their way of giving her some consolation of perhaps maybe there's something later, which of course there wasn't. But anyhow, fast forward through the process. I got divorced at 30, and I went to the fertility doctor at that time to say I wanted to freeze my eggs because I had been in a very corporate environment where there was women older than me who had struggled with it. So I thought, you know, I have my 401k, I have all. All my ducks in a row. I'm going to go do this and be kind of a good citizen for my. For myself. And the doctor said, you're too young. Come back later. And I was floored. I couldn't believe that he had said that. Now, mind you, I'm almost 46, and this was when I was 30 years old. So the technology has changed a bit, but basically the eggs don't thaw as well as the embryos. So he was concerned, you know, that if he throws eggs at that time, that perhaps I wouldn't have as best of a turnout if I perhaps waited and just hoped that I would meet somebody later. At 36, I went back because I was still single. And he said, okay, let's do this then. And the technology of the freezing process had changed, but the thawing process had not. So in turn, that started my journey of this whole again, I guess, for lack of better term connection to this world of fertility and women and men, for that matter, going through it and feeling that connection of the scientific aspect of it that I've always been fascinated by, and the education around, or lack thereof, of how much we don't know going into these things. So I did IVF on my own at 36, and I had 11 eggs frozen at that time, and I went on my way. And then at 39, I had just met my husband, 39 and a half, actually, and I had just been diagnosed with fibroids. So I went to my regular ob. I'd had severe bleeding. That was different. I'd always had a pretty regular Cycle. They said, well, it's small, so there's no, you know, no need to worry. It's fine. It'll probably go away. Not to worry. Well, I went back to this fertility doctor and I said, can you just double check this? Because I feel like something's not right. It's just my gut feeling. And he said, yeah, it is small, but where it is is preventing you from conceiving. So he recommended me go to a gynecological oncologist. I did the myomectomy surgery to remove the fibroids. And at that point, I was now 40 years old. And he said, okay, now it's time to try. And we were lucky enough to get pregnant on first try. So I thought, easy peasy, right? Like, job done, life is good. I delivered my first baby at 41. And that's kind of after that is when things just start. Started to unravel a little bit of realizing that it wasn't so easy. So after that, I conceived the second pregnancy and had my first loss, went on to eventually having three children, but had losses in between then. And with that process realized the gravity of the whole experience of fertility, infertility, miscarriage loss, late term loss with other people that I was helping at that time as a bereavement doula and the whole spectrum of this experience. And so I hence now focus full time on supporting men and women who are going through this to help them navigate their situation and get through it and build their families.
That's so beautiful. Bravo to you. Because this problem, like you said, is getting worse and worse. And women need help from people like you because as soon as you know you're pregnant, you start dreaming, you start making plans, you start imagining a future with this human being in your life. Right? So I would love for you to just talk about, like, we really do gloss over miscarriages, like, oh, you'll get pregnant next time. It's not a big deal, just, you know, it's okay, move on. You have three kids, what's the problem? But it really is a loss. Isn't.
Truly is. And you, unfortunately, it sounds so cliche, but you don't realize it until you experience it. And when I went through it, I didn't know anybody who had. Which sounds so crazy to me to say now because, you know, once your world is open to that, it's. It's crazy that one in four are experiencing it that we know of and so many go unreported. But it was then actually my first DNC in the clinic it was, we were doing our first dc, which is a surgery to remove the tissue. And the couple next to us that was in the bed with just a sheet in between us, so I would say maybe 4 to 5ft between the beds, they were doing their first retrieval and they were so excited. And I remember thinking, so genuinely being thrilled for them. But at the same time, that story that you just mentioned of as soon as you get that positive test, you set the scene for your life. What it's going to look like, what car are you going to drive with the car seats in the back, what stroller are you going to buy? Without a blink of an eye, it changes. And for most of us, we don't ever get an answer to. So if your Aunt Susie passes away, you generally know what happens to Aunt Susie. For a lot of times with miscarriage loss, you don't get an answer as to what happened. And maybe it's chromosomal and you get that answer. But even that, you know, they don't know why that happens, right? I mean, a lot of times they say it's the quality of the egg. And now more and more conversations are happening around the quality of the sperm as well. But for the most part it is something that's hard to get your head around and accept and then really get into that process of allowing to grieve adequately, adequately so that you can move on in a healthy way for your next pregnancy and not have that PTSD of wondering if it's going to happen again and all of that.
So, yeah, oh my gosh, I've had many a patient seek me out because they couldn't see their gynecologist anymore just because of how the miscarriage had been handled. You know, that loss and, you know, just calling them over the phone or just being very cold and not understanding and comforting, Comforting. And it's, you know, the standard in conventional gynecology is you don't do any workup, you don't look into things until you've had three losses have to be consecutive. And so we have all these rules and we just make it so sterile and non feeling. And it's just, it shouldn't be that way. And that really needs to change. So I feel bad for anybody listening to this who's gone through any kind of situation like that because it does harden it. You kind of lose hope every time something like that happens. So do you get a lot of women who are just afraid that there's no hope left? I mean, that's what I'm hearing More and more is like, I just don't think I'm going to get pregnant.
Yeah. And part of that is because you don't get an answer. Right. You do have to advocate for yourself to get these recurrent loss panels done. And most of the time, even when you do get those done, unfortunately, it comes back that everything is fine. So, you know, it really is a mental game. And that's where having a coach or somebody to help you through this really helps you to gain some perspective on it, to heal your heart in order to help heal your body to move forward. Because the nurses and doctors, as amazing as they are, they're not trained to do any of that or hold our hands, so to speak, through the process. And, you know, we can't fault that for them because they. They're trained to do what they do, and they do it very well. I think that's where, you know, a coach or somebody of that nature comes in. And I always say, once you walk out of the doctor's office, that's where we come and hold the hand. You know, I get calls from the OB office of now, unfortunately, you know, the husband's in the parking lot during the ultrasound where there's no heartbeat and that sort of thing. So I get the calls of, can you help these people to work through this? But it really is something that I feel wholeheartedly that you should take the time to grieve in whatever way that that looks like for you. I know for. If you're of an older age, like I was, you feel that you don't have the time to properly grieve because you need to, like, hurry up and figure out what you're doing next. But it is super important to. To do that.
Oh, my goodness. So important. Such an important piece. So I love that you work with women and you provide that support. That's really awesome. So everybody everywhere can do that.
Yeah, I have clients in Israel, Belgium, uk, South Africa, pretty much all over the place.
So, yeah, that's awesome. Okay, so back to why is infertility rising? You know, I have my thoughts, and there's so much evidence, just about environmental toxins and the stressors you mentioned. Like, what do you see as the number one issue?
Yeah, I do think that it's a combination of all of those things. And the reason that we see so much success with how we coach people through this is we really look at it from a mind, body, spirit perspective. And how do all of those things come together so it's not just what you're Eating or not just the plastics away from your home or those sorts of things. But how do you show up in the world? How are you creating in your life and showing these, you know, spirit babies, as I like to refer to them, that you're ready for them and you have that space. Because we do have so much education and knowledge now about what we should be taking as far as supplements, what we should be eating, all of those things. And really the missing piece is getting that cortisol levels into check, I should say, and understanding what triggers you and when that does trigger you, what's happening to your body. I mean, we all know people say, oh, go on vacation and you'll get pregnant or just don't think about it and you want to just punch them in the face right when you're trying. But really there's a reason for that. It's the fact that your body literally is going into a different state of relaxation and your system is open to receive where it's a safe place. Because our bodies are very smart and intelligent to know if you're in a high stress state situation, it's not safe to conceive. And right now, I say right now, meaning, you know, these days with women working full time and paying our own bills and doing all the things is really something that we haven't had to do so much in life as we are doing now. And so I think again, really that mind, body, spirit and putting yourself into self care practices that help you finding something that grounds you, creating something every day. My mantra before I had kids was I can create, I'm able to create. So it wasn't so much about visualizing this baby, it was knowing that my body was capable of creating. And I have clients that are. In fact, I had a 49 year old just give birth in Florida right before Christmas, which is unusual, but it happens. I mean, it happens. And so I think my thing is always if you want to be a mom, you can make that happen. There's so many different avenues to being a parent now, which is incredible, but really having that channel open for yourself to know, okay, am I checking off all the boxes? Right? If you're doing a gluten free, sugar free, all these other free diets, but that's still not working for you. Look at what else is happening in your life that may be preventing that conception from happening. Is that a relationship issue that's maybe going on that you would like to think isn't going on, but maybe it's not a safe environment right now for you so really looking at yourself from an inward perspective to see what can you do to help move the needle.
I couldn't agree more. That's why IVF has such a high failure rate because they're dialing in all the science and all the medical stuff, but they're not touching that spiritual aspect, that subconscious, like energy into the quantum. If you're in a bad relationship and subconsciously, you know, you shouldn't be with that person, the universe is just protecting you, you know, like it really. So I think that's really important for women to understand. Understand, like put your intentions out there, but also listen to the feedback and are you in the right place mentally, emotionally, spiritually to do this job that you want to do? And if not, you got to probably make some big shifts. I mean, have you seen women leave their corporate jobs and things like that?
I have. And also get that perspective. They realize that. They didn't realize they were living so masculine. Right. They didn't realize that their relationship wasn't the greatest. And once you start to do that digging a little bit, it's pretty eye opening, but at the same time, it's. You're able to change that and shift it. So that's the good news. Right? I'm so happy that you mentioned this subconscious because oftentimes, I mean, 95% of what we do in our day is from the subconscious. So if there's something that maybe you heard or seen or ancestral situation, maybe that's what's happening. Right? So we do work around that as well. All of my losses were girls and I had all boys. I had to do some work around that because I was supposed to be a boy. So all I ever heard when I was growing up was your name was going to be Scott and we thought you were a boy and we were hoping you were a boy. Well, I manifested boys for my family because that's what was needed. So it really is an interesting perspective when you feel like you're at a point where you're against the wall and you. You've done everything you can do, you've had multiple failed cycles and. Or if you're trying to conceive naturally and it's just not working. I really do recommend you kind of going inward to look at all the other perspectives of what can this be? To your point, on a quantum level, on a much deeper subconscious level, is there something, a message that I not seeing, that maybe I should see that is preventing me from creating this human life from coming?
Right. I always say, like, you can have it all. Just maybe not all at once. Right. Maybe not at this season. In your life, you might have to shift. Like, I had to change careers, I had to change my life to get my health back. And you know, some women, I see that struggle, like they've made it, they're super successful, they're running the show, but they want that family and it's like something's got to give, you know, at some point. So you have to make that decision. But I love that you, like, help them work through that process of just like, what do I want? What are the blockages that are maybe preventing this and how can I move forward and figure this out? I think that's amazing.
Yeah. Because I'm sure you've seen this too in your, in your practice as well. But women tend to hold on so tight to, again, the diets or the supplements and all of those things. And I often say that's not necessarily going to be the game changer if you're taking the CoQ10 or not. It's more of what's the bigger picture? How are you showing up? If you let go of that a little bit, your body relaxes and feels safer instead of holding on so tightly. I will attest of how many times I've seen people get pregnant after I say eat the piece of cake and the pizza and let go of the gluten, dairy free, all these things. If you don't have a food sensitivity to those things, of course, I will always give that caveat. But, but really it's sometimes when you're not trying so hard and you let go a little bit and you let the universe play its hand in the way that it's meant to be in your life. Things happen.
Right. Because what you focus on is what grows. And so if you're focused on like infertility and disease and I need to change and fix stuff, like you're not inviting, you know, a baby to come at all. You are inviting fear and doubt. And so I just, I think this is so important for women to realize that we want it all to be scientific and we want it to be all in our control. And it's not. There is a spiritual piece to getting pregnant. There really is.
Yeah. I always say there's a contract Right. Between that spirit baby and everybody who is coming to it. And it's not. If it were up to us, we would, it would go as planned. Right. I often get messages of, from my coaches that I've trained of. Well, my, my client is, you know, they did the ovulation sticks, they did the basal body temperature. You know, they had intercourse at the right time and it didn't happen this month. Well, that's part of, you know, that's not up to us. Right. There's a certain degree of this spiritual contract that is bigger than us, no matter if our timing is right or not, of all parties involved, right. The partner, the mother, that baby, if there's another stepchild involved or not, which in my case there was. But everybody agrees to be on this, this journey together, essentially. And I think having that understanding as well in a bigger perspective helps heal in a lot of ways to know, especially with miscarriage, I see that that really opens people up to know that it's not their fault. This is not something they did. You know, it's. It's something that we're working as a collective to say, is this the right time for everybody involved? Right. Not just, of course, I want it on my time. Right. Because that's what would be convenient because this is when I want my baby. But maybe that's not right for that baby to come in or for my husband or whatever it was. So I think just looking at it from different perspectives, especially when you've been down the road for quite a while, helps to ease some of the heartache that you're going through.
I think that's so important because women want to blame themselves. They want to have something that they can fix. You know what I mean? And so then you get the shame, and then you get the doubt of it's never going to happen. So if we can just give ourselves some grace and be like, actually, this is out of my control. There are some things in my control, like you said, optimize them, but let's not stew over them and like obsess over them to the point where we're not allowing that positive energy. So. Oh, my goodness. So important. So what does it look like when women work with you? Is the process usually like six months, a year? Is it kind of?
Well, we hope not, because we hope that they end up getting pregnant before then. So it just depends. We do either three week or three or six week sessions at a time. And most people that come are, have already gone down the road of trying naturally, and they're debating whether or not they start to go to see a fertility doctor and kind of take that next step. I always say, yes, let's go check out the lay of the land. Make sure you know what you're dealing with. Right. So if you have a Block tube. And you've been trying, then it. Obviously we know you're dealing with something different and you need to figure out what your next step is. But really it just depends on everybody's situation individually and how they come to the table and what they're looking for and where they've been before they've come to me. Again, I see a lot of people that have done very extreme diets. I've seen people that have gone to all sorts of doctors. And I. We actually build up their fertility team. So whether that's a functional doctor, a naturopath, maybe their MD that they're working with on the fertility side. Because as I mentioned before, all of those things are important. Every aspect. If you. If you're. If you like acupuncture and that works for you, bring that in too. I always, like, throw everything in the kitchen sink at it and let's see what works for you. Right. If. If nothing else for me, I love acupuncture because it forces you to stay still for an hour every week. Right. Which most of that's nearly impossible to do. So it depends on everybody's different perspective. But how it works initially is we do partner with whatever doctor they are seeing, and if they're not seeing, we recommend them go to get just a basic hormone panel. Like, what's happening with your hormones? Are you. Is everything right? Is your cycle regular? Is your bleeding heavy, normal or light? And most people always think their bleeding is normal and when in fact it's not. And that's an indication that your hormones are off. Right. So it's really looking at it from a perspective of, you know, like you said, doing the medical stuff with your team as well, but then also integrating into that of working through your limiting beliefs. I'm also a psych K facilitator, which works through that subconscious blocks that maybe you're not aware of, that you may have. We partner with. If you need a psychiatrist or psychologist to work with as well through things, maybe it's not even around fertility or maybe this is triggering something else that's come up for you. So it's really important to look at it from that perspective. But a coach generally will help guide you in the best place for you to be and get you there faster than you trying to figure it out yourself as far as making those decisions and knowing what that means. Oftentimes people have this idea of ivf, that it's some huge, big, scary, very expensive thing, but once you break it down, it's actually not that bad. And it depends on your body specifically how it will react. So we again we hear these horrible stories from people, but that's not always the case. You know, there's really good stories too or IUIs or there's just lots of different options that egg donors and all the things which are such an amazing beautiful experience now that again is. Was not really talked about even 10 or 15 years ago so much. And it is becoming more and more mainstream as we have these conversations. And seeing other couples that and or single people that have a baby from these other alternatives makes them realize see themselves in that as well. I can do that. I can see my family being that way. Or I always say go partner with a family and watch them on the playground. And you will not see any difference from any other family on the playground if those, you know, even if they're donor egg children or whatever it may be. And it really is eye opening for people because we have this block of well, I want to have a child that is from my own genetic line. But really if you're struggling with that, having the openness and talking to somebody about that can really change. Change your perspective, right?
Exactly. Oh my gosh, this is awesome. So what do you think is the most surprising thing that clients, you know, they're like I had no idea. Or they just have aha's with you. Is there something that comes over time and time again?
I think the big thing is that the creating, like my homework for everybody is to create and have fun. Right. The spirit babies that are around us, they want to come to parents that are having fun and creating and we're showing the universe that yes, we can follow the supplement diets and all of the things, but we can also make time and space in our life for creation and having fun. And that's really what we're here to do. So incorporating that in your day to day, finding the time of what works for you to ground yourself and keep your cortisol levels in this way. I think the common word that I always hear from everybody is I'm just calm now. I wasn't before, but I feel calm. I'm not so tied to the end result anymore, which in this, the end result is a big deal. So to hear people say that is pretty life changing. And then of course they end up sending me the ultrasound pictures and or the new baby pictures, which is amazing. So I think that that's probably what surprises people the most because again we do talk about the diet and exercise and the supplements and all of those things. But really where the most of the work comes in is making sure that everything on the outside, what's happening with their job, their relationships, oftentimes people in that realm or the age group of having babies, everyone around them is having a baby. So they feel like everyone's drinking this Kool Aid. And I don't. I'm not invited to that party. And why is this happening? And so working through that and knowing you're not alone in feeling that way, and it's not bad to feel that way. We don't pretend that those feelings don't exist. We just work through them and see how can we change that around to say, oh, my gosh, this is amazing. Everyone's having babies. This is my sign that my baby's coming soon. Right. Instead of, like, pushing it away and not wanting to be there. Yeah. And just reframing the whole situation, because it's really. It really is a matter of how you look at that and knowing that this is coming for you and happening for you instead of to you. And while protecting yourself, I'm the first one to say, if you. If you don't feel comfortable going to a baby shower, don't go. You know, don't put yourself in that situation. You don't have to do that. But at the same time, just make little tweaks in your day to day to change the perspective.
Yeah. I think as soon as we become mindful of all those lies that are going through our head all day long, just on repeat, and we can stop those and shift and change them, the universe will open up and give us what we want. Right now we're saying, I can't get pregnant. I'm afraid this is never going to happen. I'm getting so old. The universe is going to continue to give you those results. So I just. I believe so strongly in all this work that you're doing, and you must be doing amazing because you've now created a coaching academy to help other health coaches help women on this journey. Right?
Yes. Thank you so much. It's just. It's such a need. It really is. Again, because the nurses and doctors are out there, they don't really know how to handle this part of the journey of women either. So it's really a matter of helping support women as a collective and knowing that they're not alone. And this is a thing that's not going away, but you can get through to the other side and there's somebody there to help you through it in a curated way. Because I see so much Damage, for lack of a better word, of people going down the Google rabbit hole or Facebook groups or whatnot, where they come out of it so traumatized just from that of what they've seen. And again, once you see something or read something, you can't undo that. Right? Because then you think, okay, you're self diagnosing in a Facebook group based on somebody else who we don't know, she has thyroid issues or other things going on. But now you think that you need to be on the same protocol that this person does. And so having a coach that can help guide you in the right way just keeps you, as I like to say, in your lane, so to speak, so that you can focus on you. You're writing your own story, so it doesn't really matter what's happening. We have social evidence that women over 40 can have babies. We know that. So you don't need to spend your time looking online because you're going to end up seeing stuff that you don't need to see or hear. Right. And anyone for that matter. Right. If you have genetic issues, you know that people with genetic issues can get pregnant from ivf. That's possible. So don't spend your time in a toxic situation online to see these bad stories. Write your own beautiful story and know that you can do it and find somebody to help you do that.
Oh, my gosh, I love this so much. So good. And I'm guessing you talk about all of this on your podcast, Pretty Little Tribe.
We do, yes. We talk all things from fertility to motherhood and everything in between. Between. And talk to people like yourself. So I can't wait to have you on.
Yeah, I would be honored. I think we just need to really help women connect with who they are, how they want to show up in the world and like, give them the tools like you are doing to make that happen. Because I can fix your gut all day long, but that's not going to make the magic happen.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh. Well, thank you so much. This has been awesome. Where can my listeners find you and follow you and connect with you?
You can find me on my website as ElizabethKing.com or on Instagram @ElizabethKingCoaching. And if you're interested in becoming a fertility coach, you can go to the fertilitycoachacademy.com oh my gosh, that's awesome.
All the links are in the show notes, so I want everybody to connect with you because I'm sure that somebody listening is like, I have a sister who needs this woman I have a friend, you know, we all know somebody, right?
Yeah, it's amazing. So in the U.S. we're one in eight that's suffering from infertility. In Canada, it's one in six. And so I always say when you're at a Starbucks and you look at the line or the people in there, knowing that one in eight of the people that are in there is how some sort of struggle with fertility and just having that perspective of the next time maybe you're talking to somebody or wondering are they going to be having kids? Because they haven't yet. Maybe there's something else going on. And just, you know, coming with a very empathetic perspective to others, knowing that this is something that's going on that people are ashamed of and feel bad about, which they don't need to because they're not alone. There's a lot of other people that are feeling the same way. So the more we have this conversation and, and people are aware, I feel, the less it's going to be this underground conversation.
Yeah. Oh my gosh. Well, thank you so much for sharing all this beautiful spiritual healing that you've gone through and your pain to purpose story. It's so good. So I hope my listeners connect with you.
Thank you for having me.
Oh my gosh. I love that conversation. I have been obsessed with getting into the quantum, meaning, like connecting your energy with the energy of the universe and with other people around you and other spiritual energy around you. And I think, you know, my biggest takeaway was you can be doing everything right and you can have all your ducks in a row and that baby still might not be coming because maybe that baby's not ready, maybe your partner's not ready, Maybe your time in life isn't ready and you haven't paved the way for that to be open and to come into your life. So I know it's a little bit woo woo, it's a little bit out there, but I promise you that I have been really trying to think of life as the universe gives you what you give it. And it's just been coming to fruition like a hundred times over. Every time I give out positive, good energy and thoughtful things that I want to create, it comes to me. When I put out fear and scarcity and jealousy and all of those negative feelings, I get that back and magnified. And so if you can connect with that at all, like delve into this some more. I love Dr. Joe Dispenza. I mean, he's really into this. It's amazing.
Work.
But I want you to think about like, are you doing all this stuff? Are you trying too hard when maybe you need to just make space physically, mentally and emotionally to have a baby in your life? So that's what I see. Oftentimes I help Feb Fertile, you know, get their women pregnant and they do an amazing job because they really deal with this issue. And I just love Elizabeth's method and so don't hesitate to reach out to her. I know that she can help you or whoever you're thinking needs help. So thank you. I'm so honored you stayed and listened to this today. I hope you'll come back next week because I am here for you ladies. I do this for you. So hit the subscribe, give me a like shout me out on Instagram and tick tock at the gutsy gynecologist and go have an amazing week week. Bye guys.
