A short video by Dr. Thomas J. Powell explaining the second of the "six Cs" for capital-raising storytelling: the Champion, meaning the solution. Powell emphasizes clearly articulating how the solution works (the mechanics) rather than focusing on the founder or overly technical detail, and aligning with investors who already recognize the problem. He briefly references the prior "challenge" C and offers a call-to-action to submit pitch decks for feedback.

Hey, Tom Powell here with the founder's office. And we are Talking about the six Cs of storytelling and capital raising. And yesterday we talked about the challenge C. Today we're going to talk about the champion C. This is the one where most founders and their team actually, they live in that because it's what they're doing every single day. And here in the United States, we talk about what do you do. So in talking about what you do in, it's less important than actually describing how the mousetrap functions. You don't go to the auto store to buy a car and the person takes you in and they show you the manual, how the front right bearings work to move that wheel. You don't really care about that. There's maybe a handful of things. So get down and articulate what the solution is and what it actually means. That's the champion in the storytelling. So the first is what's the challenge that you're solving or the problem that you're solving? The second is what's the champion? And you are the champion as the founder. But it's really not about you. It's about the mechanics of what you do that solves that problem or is in the midst of solving that problem. When you put together this combination, you get the basics of storytelling that really gets people involved. And what you're trying to do is not find people who wish to invest in your company. You're trying to find the people who already have identified that problem. Maybe they haven't been able to articulate it as well as you have, but they're able to say, gosh, you can articulate that problem and you have a solution, I want to back you. That's the next secret that we'll be talking about. What's it mean if they actually do back you? Have a great day. Join us@foundners.com you can run your deck through and we'll give you some feedback.
