Dylan Patel argues that policymakers and robotics experts need better communication channels to create workable policy. Without boots-on-the-ground input from industry, he says, a central robotics office can't function effectively.

We need communication channels between the policymakers and actual industry experts. I think these exist. I don't think they're strong or robust enough. If you want to generate a good policy, if you want to lead a good central robotics office, you need to have some type of boots-on-the-ground information. These communication channels between the two are going to be vital for us to implement something that works and that's functional.
