Two Step beach was definitely one of our favorite snorkeling spots on all the big island of Hawaii. So this beach is located over on the west side of the Big Island. There's three different options for parking. One is free and two are paid. There's free parking on the shoulder of the road, but that fills up pretty fast. If you have a national Parks pass, you can go to the visitor center, use that or pay $20 for a seven day pass. After parking, you'll walk down the street to Two Step Beach. And lastly there's a paid parking lot right across the street. So you can see that Two Step beach really isn't a sandy beach. It's mostly lava rock. But because of the lava rock, that's why this water is crystal clear. So as you can see here, they call it Two Step because there's actually two steps to get into the water. So we put on our snorkel gear and hopped in. After snorkeling in the shallow water, we headed towards the deeper water and that's when we had doll and swim right up to us.
