Dr. Yvette Edwards explains that carpal tunnel pain often comes from nerve interference in the cervical spine, not the wrist itself. Surgery to cut the wrist doesn't guarantee relief, and many patients still have symptoms after. Getting your neck evaluated and treated can resolve carpal tunnel more effectively.

Good afternoon, everyone. This is Dr. Yvette Edwards again here with you, and I'd like to discuss with you today carpal tunnel. And carpal tunnel is when you get pain in through the arm, the wrist area, and it's usually due to overwork, and it's just pain. You could be sleeping and you're hurting, and a lot of times if it's a manual type of job that you do, you're going to miss work all the time. Your family's not going to be happy because you're not happy. Now, I'm here to tell you that you could go and get carpal tunnel surgery where they're gonna cut in through here and cut through the joint, and there's no guarantee that that's going to get the problem solved, because a lot of people I've seen in my office have had the surgery and they still have the symptoms and the pain, and the surgery has been done. Now, nerve interference can actually cause what's going on in the carpal tunnel area. The nerve interference, and the reason why I'm standing here is because I'm just gonna show you the nerves here. If you look, you'll see the yellow, that's the nerves, and the nerves that come out of the neck, they actually go down into the hands, in through the carpal area here, and that's the area where these nerves come out. So we're talking about right in through here and straight down into the hands. So if the problem is not really in the carpal but actually in your neck, you cannot correct it by doing surgery here. So consider Get your neck checked, get the neck taken care of so you can live a better life, out of pain, able to go to work, and able to manage your life and your health better.
