Hyperactivity (Children) and Chiropractic Care

Alicia Jenkins' daughter Bella was diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorder at 24 months. After years of diets and therapies with little change, one visit to Dr. Yvette Edwards' clinic using a metal-detox protocol led to Bella saying "mama," using sign language, and showing calmer behavior.

Good afternoon, everyone. This is Dr. Yvette Edwards again here with you with Ms. Alicia Jenkins. And we are so happy and so proud to have her and her daughter Bella here with us. Bella is a joy. And Ms. Jenkins is going to explain to us what's been going on with Bella, why she's been in this office. So can you tell us what's, what's been going on with Bella?
Bella has been Hold on a minute. What am I— what do you mean? Like, as in—
What's been going on with her as far as health-wise?
Health-wise, she was diagnosed on the spectrum and she has sensory processing disorder. We decided to come to get some help with her to make sure she—
What was going— how long had she been suffering?
For at least— well, she was diagnosed at 24 months with autism, and so she's been— so it's roughly about 3, 4 years.
And how many different things have you tried up to this point?
Everything.
Until you came in here.
We tried gluten-free diet. We've tried staying away from certain dyes in foods. We've tried different therapies, and we tried everything before we came here.
And then what happened after just one visit in here with Bella?
Bella started to regain some more of her— because of her being nonverbal, she wasn't saying mama. She wasn't saying anything really, but she started back saying mama. And asking for more or certain things or eat or something like that with her, where she—
She wasn't talking before.
She wasn't talking before.
Yeah. So Bella is beginning to verbalize more what she wants without the OT stuff, equipment that she had before that she had to be using. And tell us about when Bella came here the first time, how she behaved. We want to talk about Bella and her behavior a little bit when she came in here.
She was on a 20. She was bouncing off the walls. She could not— Dr. Edwards couldn't work with her. She couldn't sit still, and she was all over the place when we first got here.
And she didn't want to be in here also because she's used to going to offices where the doctors had white coats on.
Yeah.
So what did I do instead? She—
all of her experiences have been traumatic when it comes to white coats, but she— Dr. Edwards didn't come in with the coat on, so Bella didn't even know she was at a doctor's office. And it got so much better after the first visit.
Definitely, definitely. And the first thing we did for Bella in here, we did a metal detox because based on what mom told us as far as history, we knew more than likely there was some type of toxicity in her body and we wanted to help to clear that. And Bella is on her way. She comes in here now, she's a jokester. She comes in here and for the fun of it, she turns off lights and then she looks in our faces as if to say, did I not just do that? We enjoy having Bella here as she's progressing and getting better. And was it yesterday you said she, rather than, rather than just pulling you to get something to eat, what did she do?
She came and she, when I asked her what she wanted to eat, she actually sign language eat to me instead of pulling me or instead of trying to get it herself. She actually told me what she wanted before she went to try to make an attempt to get it herself.
So we're grateful for the Jenkins family being in here, and we're grateful that the process has been placed in our hands here to be able to help her. And we look forward to being able to do updates on videos once Bella is fully back to herself, because we know Bella was 100% before. We want to see her 100% again.
All right.
So just keep in mind, this is not just about Given supplements. And it's not about— it's about getting the child, getting the person back to their whole self. All right, so keep that in mind. And that's what we're here for at Life Chiropractic for You. Thank you again, Ms. Jenkins.
We appreciate you.
