How To Make "Discipline" So Easy It Feels Like CHEATING

Elay Amitay Halevi argues discipline isn't about forcing yourself to act. It comes from regulating your nervous system, releasing emotional blocks, and getting clear on what you actually want so badly that not doing it hurts. When your internal resistance drops, action becomes automatic.

Guys, I've cracked the code on discipline. And I'm somebody who's watched 5 million David Goggins videos. I've seen every single motivational video that exists probably on the Internet. I've locked in more times than you can probably count, and it doesn't work long term. There is a cheat code to discipline that makes being disciplined so easy, it feels like cheating. And I'm going to be sharing with you today kind of the secret sauce to becoming disciplined in a way that feels aligned, that feels good and easy and not forced. I don't think I've seen any other video on the Internet about this. This is what I've learned through my experience and through coaching hundreds of people on this. So we're going to break this down. We're going to go through the definition of discipline, why you've struggled with discipline and what to focus on to finally become disciplined once and for all so you can actually start doing the things that you desperately want to do in your life. So if the thumbnail tricked you because you saw Locked in and you thought this was going to be like a hype type video, it's not going to be that type of video. But it is going to be the type of video that rewires your brain, your energy and your perspective so you can finally start moving the levers that actually trigger discipline in the first place. And then automatically, as a byproduct, you will become locked in like my guy here. So I have the definition of discipline written down here, and I'm going to read it out to you. A disciplined person is someone who consistently controls their behavior and actions to achieve specific goals, often demonstrating self control and commitment to their tasks. They prioritize their responsibilities and can resist distractions or temptations to stay focused on their objectives. The reason I wanted to read that out to you is because you can see discipline relates to how you behave, the actions that you take. And I want you to just think right now about yourself. Think about times during your life where you've really locked in, right? You've sat down here like my guy. I feel like his name is Albert. You've clocked in, you started hustling, and you started doing this project that maybe you put off for months and months and months. Or suddenly one day you woke up and you were like, you know what? I'm not smoking cigarettes anymore. That time is over. And you don't touch a cigarette again. Sometimes we have moments where we actively choose discipline and suddenly we're able to just change our behavior. And act in accordance with our goals. And then I want you to think about the opposite. Okay? Maybe you've had these times. Well, I know you do. Everybody does. Where you've set this goal, you've been making progress. You. You've been disciplined for weeks, maybe even months, or maybe just days, or maybe a few hours, and all of a sudden you're reverting to your old behavior again. So that's the most common pitfall with discipline. It's like I'm able to take five steps forward, but then I take 10 steps back. I gave up the cigarettes. And then three hours later, I'm suddenly smoking a cigarette. Or you're on your. Your weight loss journey, you're eating healthy, and next thing you know, you're in the McDonald's drive through. This is the pitfall that most people fall into. Fundamentally have their energy aligned to be able to act disciplined or act in a way that is in accordance with their goals, which is discipline. Okay? And the reason why discipline is so important is because you're never going to access your full potential if you can't become disciplined. You just won't do it. Discipline is actually an act of self love. It's an act of saying, you know what? I know I'm so capable of so much more. I know I could do more, be more, have more. So I'm going to be disciplined. I'm going to follow my responsibilities, reduce my distractions, and do what I'm supposed to do so that I can have a better life, a better outcome, whatever it is. And every amazing thing that exists, every great piece of art, writing, every great business, everything that's good or great that's in existence was only able to come about because somebody was disciplined enough to create that thing. They cut out all the noise and they were able to lock in and get focused on what they were supposed to do so they could birth their creation into reality. And this is really. I'm hoping this is going to land on the algorithm of people who know they have a greater purpose. They know they're supposed to be doing something more with their life, but they just can't get their head on straight. They can't get their energy right to really focus and start getting. Getting it done. So here we have a very short version of the definition of a disciplined person. It's controlling actions and behaviors to achieve specific goals. Here we come on to the mistake that a lot of you are making when it comes to discipline. You're just trying to do this. You're looking at Your actions and you're saying, how can I change that action? How can I force myself to grind and lock in? How can I force myself to just hustle and work harder? How can I just change my action? That is the wrong level to be thinking at. Action is an end result. Every single action you take is driven by your energy, by your emotional state and by your mental state. If you think about somebody who is like a high functioning CEO of a six figure company versus somebody who's working maybe a minimum wage job and maybe these two people are the same age, they're the same height, they have the same kind of characteristics, but their energy is completely different, their mindset is completely different, their emotional state is completely different. So the actions that each of those people are compelled to take are different. So you're trying to change your action to that of a six figure per month CEO, but you've got the mind of four fig per month employee. And so you're trying to take these actions and force yourself to hustle and be disciplined. But you, your energy, your state does not correspond with you taking those actions. And that's why it feels so difficult to do it. So we're gonna hone in on today the main things that you need to change in the way that you're thinking and in your energy, like just in your overall state of consciousness that will enable you to actually start taking the actions that are actually getting you to where you want to go. But just remember this, you will never be able to long term act outside of your state of consciousness. Maybe you can do it for a moment, but in the long run you're always going to default to the actions that correspond to your state of consciousness. Because you, your energy, your mind is the cause and the actions that you take are just an end result of that. Okay, even if we think about, you know, for example, you're watching David Goggins motivational videos and suddenly you get the surge of motivation and suddenly you're disciplined for maybe a whole week. What happened is you temporarily had a shift in your state of consciousness and that enabled you to take different action. Key word though, temporarily. So that's why watching motivational videos, yes, of course they can help you, but usually it doesn't stick and it doesn't last because your dominant state takes back over again. Because you're not constantly, well, I don't know if you are, but you're not constantly plugging into different motivational videos, you're not constantly having your awareness shift. And so I'm going to be Showing you today what state you've been trapped in essentially and how to shift your state so that discipline becomes easy and it sticks forever. Let's take a couple of examples here. What happens when a person's state of consciousness suddenly shifts and they become disciplined on something that maybe they've been trying to become disciplined with for a long time. The number one thing that was a funny noise, the number one thing that you've got to realize is you don't actually have a discipline problem. You have an awareness problem. You've not been aware of what you've been sacrificing by not being disciplined. So let's take an example. Let's say you've been trying to give up junk food for years, years and years and years. And suddenly you go to the doctor and you get a health scare. You get told maybe that you're pre diabetic. You are now aware of the consequence of you not being disciplined in your diet. And so every single time that you go to eat junk food, your state of consciousness has an awareness now of what you're sacrificing if you go ahead and eat that junk food. And that's what makes it easier to be disciplined. This is the key ingredient. This is like the missing piece for so many people. Let's take another example. Let's say you had a project you for months and all of a sudden your employer tells you, if that's not done by Tuesday, then we're going to let you go, you're going to lose your job. Okay, extreme example, but there you go. So something that you've been procrastinating on for months and you haven't been able to muster up some discipline to sit down and do. Now all of a sudden you can sit down and do it. Why? Because you have hyper awareness as to what you will sacrifice through by not being disciplined. And so your state of consciousness has shifted to become aware of what the cost is of a lack of discipline. Then discipline becomes easy. Because you know the trade off here. You know, sitting down and doing the thing like that discomfort of not eating the junk food, the discomfort of doing the work is less uncomfortable than losing your job or becoming more sick physically. And so when you become aware of what you're sacrificing by not being disciplined, you will be disciplined naturally. And there's so many layers to this. And we're going to go through it, but this is the fundamental core of what bot distinguishes between a disciplined person and a non disciplined person. And I want to comfort you for a Second, I don't know why this is coming up. You might be beating yourself up. I see this a lot. You might be beating yourself up for being somebody who can't lock in or can't be disciplined. And I want to reassure you, like, we're all one, we're all the same. We're all just souls having this human experience. Everybody is on their own journey. Everybody has different traumas and different belief systems and different programming and different environments and everything. And your journey is your journey for a reason. So please don't beat yourself up. Everybody is dealing with their own stuff and sometimes people aren't as disciplined or as organized as they seem. So don't compare yourself. Like, there's a lot of tough love in this space. Sometimes I'm a little bit tough love. But once we go through this, you're gonna hopefully have some compassion for yourself as well and understand why you've not been able to be disciplined, which is how you're actually going to start to be able to move beyond it. Instead of waiting for some disaster to happen like a health scare or potentially losing your job for you to finally gain awareness and finally become disciplined. What you can do instead is you can start mastering discipline now by prioritizing, shifting your awareness and your state of consciousness before anything happens in reality that forces you to do that and prioritizing. This is what you should be doing if you really actually want to reach your full potential in this lifetime. Here we have the scale of consciousness. So depending on your state, you're either in a higher state of consciousness or, or a lower state of consciousness. When you're down and trapped in the emotions of shame, fear, guilt, grief, anger, pride, these are like, these are the emotions basically born of the ego self and they are lower frequency or lower consciousness emotions. 80% of people are operating from that state, from a lower state of awareness and of consciousness. And so the people who are operating from that state, typically they're trying to just navigate life and make sure nothing touches their triggers or their trauma, or they're trying to avoid anything that's to do with their fear based belief system that they might have inherited from their family, etc. Etc. So those are the things that keep you trapped down in a lower state of consciousness. Your trauma, your emotional wounds, and your fear based beliefs that you've inherited. If you look up here in the higher states of consciousness, you have acceptance, you have willingness, you have joy, love and enlightenment. And all of those higher emotional states. When your consciousness shifts and you release shame, fear and all Those lower vibrational emotions from your body, you naturally return to the state which you are originally initially, okay, this is your essence. And when you're operating from this state, what you perceive in reality completely changes. What you perceive about yourself changes. What you perceive about what's possible changes. Your whole lens through which you're seeing reality shifts because you are the lens, your consciousness is the lens. And when your consciousness shifts, the actions that you're compelled to take can then shift. But they can only shift then because you can never act outside your state of consciousness. The reason I like the upside down triangle is because it represents your perception. So when you are in a fear based state, when you're, when your state of awareness is very limited and narrow, your perception is very limited and narrow and you have very low energy energy for thinking bigger, thinking of a grand vision or anything like that. But when you move out of those fear based states and you come up into kind of a more heart led space, you. It's expansive, right? Rather than being constrictive, it's expansive. You can see so much more because your state is allowing you to see it. The reason this is so important is because 99 of people who think they have a discipline problem don't have a discipline problem. They're just stuck down here in a lower state of consciousness. So they're not able to see a vision for their life. They're not able to see the possibilities that they can gain from being disciplined. So they have no awareness as to the long term picture, as to why they would even be disciplined in the first place. This is something like your state of consciousness is so, so key to everything. And this is something I've been absolutely schooled in in this incarnation. I resisted it for a long time and I wondered why am I getting challenged like this? But it's probably so I could learn this stuff so I could share it with you guys. I was operating from like up here for a while. I was in kind of acceptance, joy, love, etc, etc, Everything was flowing, everything felt great. I was just aligned in flow. It was amazing. Then I had a trigger come up. Okay, I got to a certain threshold, a certain level. And what happens then is a trigger comes up. What happened was my consciousness shifted back down into fear, anger, shame even. And all of a sudden I lost my vision that I had been so connected to before. All of a sudden I lost my discipline, I lost my willpower. Why? Because my state of consciousness changed and so what I perceived as possible changed. I couldn't get excited about a vision for my life, I couldn't even see. I didn't even have clarity to see, see the vision for my life. Because these fear based emotions are a blindfold to the big picture. You basically, if we think about you and everything that's possible in your life, in this lifetime, let's think it encapsulates this whole, this whole circle, okay, all of these things are possible for you. But when you're in a lower state of awareness, you can just see this. You think that that's all there is. And so you're trying to force yourself to go to the gym, but you don't really even believe that you can ever be in shape. Or you're trying to force yourself to start that business, but you don't even believe in how good it can get because you feel so disconnected from a vision because you're in emotional discomfort basically. And you're just trying to self soothe and get by. So to simplify this for you, this is the consciousness of survival, kind of fighting for your life, just trying to get by. And this is the consciousness of creation. Here is where discipline is. Not even. You don't even think about the word discipline. It's natural. So when you're down here, discipline feels like punishment. You're disconnected from what it's even for or why you're even doing it. You're either forcing or feeling like a victim slash sabotaging if you think about for a second. And this, this happened with a client of mine in, in the community actually they realized that their problem with food was not a discipline issue. It was the fact that they had an emotional pain inside that was being served by eating the food. So the only thing you need to focus on if you are in a lower state of consciousness is to figure out what your internal emotional blocks are that are stopping you from being in a higher state of consciousness. Not hustle more, not work harder. Work on releasing your emotional pain that's causing you to self soothe and feel disconnected from your worth and disconnected from your vision, then you will become disciplined. So during this time when I realized how important your state of consciousness is for everything, like even the things you pick up on in conversations, the ideas that you have, the like everything, the actions you take, the food you eat, everything is influenced by your state. When I was in this period, but I was where I was super triggered and my perception went really narrow. I actually started getting a lot of anxiety during this trigger and I hadn't had anxiety really long time because I hadn't had anxiety in really long Time. I also hadn't vaped, hadn't smoked, hadn't done anything like that in a really long time. Didn't even cross my mind. It was easy because I was in the right state for it. But when I was triggered, there was one day in particular. I was only on the way to the airport. And I was so anxious that day, I don't even know what something was purging that I saw a woman smoking a cigarette and I thought, I had the thought, wow, I'd love some of that cigarette. I would love just a pull of that. I was like, whoa, where did that come from? I haven't smoked a cigarette in years, like not since, for ages. And I was never a big smoker, but I would never think to want some of a cigarette ever. I did that day. Why? Because I was in an anxious state of consciousness and I needed to self soothe. So it was harder for me to be disciplined around habits like comfort eating, smoking, scrolling, etc. Etc. So I can't tell you how vitally important this is. You're now going to learn how to address the actual emotional discomfort that's stopping you from being disciplined. Okay? The first thing I want you to do is stop punishing yourself for whatever destructive or negative habits you have. No matter how many times you've fallen off track, if berating yourself and punishing yourself worked, you would have become disciplined by now. So let's try something new here. Stop punishing yourself instead. You want to realize, okay, I'm in a state here that requires this temporary comfort in whatever form, binge eating, sabotaging whatever it is. Realize when you're in survival mode, short term comfort feels better and safer than the long term reward of growth. Just because that's your state. Okay? So when you notice yourself falling off track, when you notice yourself sabotaging, ask yourself, what emotional pain is this helping? So I guess that's the second step. Get curious. What pain is this soothing? And then step three. You want to work with the pain. Not the habit, not the action, not locking in and hustling. You want to work with the pain that's stopping you from acting in a way that you want to act. So let's say, for example, you've been comfort eating more than normal. Okay? Why? Why? In the moment where you have that urge and that itch to go and just binge. Why? What are you feeling inside? Where is that emotion in your body? What is that emotion? Where is it coming from? When did it get there? Start becoming self aware. If you want to Be disciplined. This is the stuff you got to do. If you want to be more disciplined than most people, you have to have more awareness than most people. Because the two go hand in hand. Become so self aware. Say, what is this? Where is this coming from? Why do I Suddenly need a McDonald's? You might realize, you know what, it's because I'm really lonely, right? I was just thinking, I'm going to go home alone. There's nobody in my house and it would just be better if I had a Big Mac when I'm at home. That would suit the emotional pain of being lonely. So now you can work with the pain of being lonely or whatever else it is, right? Maybe you feel betrayed, maybe you feel rejected, maybe you feel hurt, maybe you feel fearful of something or nervous about something. Work with the pain itself. What is it? Where did it come from? If you want a meditation to help you do this specifically, I have a parts work shadow work meditation in my community. A guided meditation. In that process, you pull the pain, the hurt part of you out of your body and you speak to it directly. That's that helps you release it and integrate it. But these are some tools you can use other than that. So shadow work. Look up Shadow work on YouTube. I've got two videos on Shadow work. If you want to go and watch them, you can go and do that. Inner child healing again. I have an inner child healing meditation in my community. You can find the link below. But there are plenty of inner child healing modalities. You can just close your eyes and picture your inner child and connect to them for a minute. That's very healing. Find out if they're the ones that are holding on to this pain. Journaling really is a key one here. So tuning into your body, identifying what it is, and then start writing out just stream of consciousness. What is this pain? Where is it coming from? How is, you know, eating this Big Mac helping me get to the root of it? Forgiveness. So forgiving yourself, write a letter to yourself and forgive yourself. Forgive other people who have hurt you. Doesn't mean it's okay, but you're letting it go. You're letting that out of your energy field. Another thing that's also super important is to regulate your nervous system. I also have a video on how to get out of survival mode. I'll also leave that in the description. And that's all that module one is about in the community as well. But getting out of survival mode and regulating your nervous system will actually start relieving you of a lot of emotional discomfort, which you might not even know why it's there. So that's another huge component of this, this regulate. Figure out what specific trigger, if any, are coming up. Do shadow work, inner child healing and journaling to figure that out. Do forgiveness if for yourself and others if you need to. And once you've done all of that, you should start to generate naturally this sense of kind of internal safety from within. So I'm going to write nervous system regulation down here, but actually these should be flipped. You should regulate your nervous system first. That's your first like first stop on this train to figuring out where this pain is coming from. First things first, go regulate your nervous system. Bring in a daily breath work or a daily meditation or a daily walk. Just go and touch some grass and try to calm down and come back into your body and do that consistently for a while. When you're there, you're going to naturally be more connected to your body and then you're going to be able to start figuring out what's actually stored in there, what's actually going on with you. Then you can introduce other practices like journaling, shadow work, coaching, therapy, etc. Etc. And the rest will move on from there. You're probably going to want to skip this and that's why you're going to stay trapped in the same cycles. In my community, for example, I make everybody do module one. The rest of the modules are locked when you come inside the community. Why? Because everybody wants to skip this stuff. And every person who goes through module one, almost everybody, they're always very shocked at the amount of changes that happen automatically just from bringing in daily meditation and nervous system regulation. After that we start doing, you know, attention reset, we start rebuilding self trust, etc. Etc. But even those two things like regulating your nervous system and meditating, creating that daily container for peace in the morning, it causes dramatic changes in your consciousness already. So prioritize those things if you were thinking of skipping them and then go and look at the other stuff. Okay? Once you're feeling more grounded, more safe, more connected to yourself, you are not as emotionally triggered or emotionally numb and you feel pretty regulated keyword. Then you will naturally start to get a bigger vision for your life and it'll be one that you can actually start to believe in. If you can't see a vision yet, it's because you either haven't tried or there's still fear blocking you from seeing it. Your imaginative faculty is connected to your feminine energy. If you don't feel safe in Your body and in your life, either because you're just very disregulated, or the stuff inside you, you have emotional needs that you haven't met, or you're just being really mean to yourself. All of those things can make you feel very unsafe. That switches your feminine energy off. And so I have people say to me all the time, I can't visualize, I just can't. And I'm saying, go and regulate your nervous system first. Of course you can't visualize. Why would your brain want to be picturing something for you to do in this world that it thinks is fundamentally dangerous and unsafe? Why would your nervous system let your energy go to you imagining things when it's trying to keep you safe? It thinks you're running from a bear, right? Because you have all of this unsafety and lack of safety in your body. So that's why I'm saying the first step, which is regulating and addressing your pain, is automatically just going to set the gears in motion for everything else. The second step is clarity of vision. You have to have a vision that is so meaningful to you, that is so exciting to you, that to not do it would be more painful than showing up and doing the work that you need to do. That's when you'll start being disciplined and it'll be easy. So you want to have absolute awareness as to why you are doing what you're doing. So you need to be clear on the vision. You need to love it so much that you almost can't be stopped from taking action towards it. And then you need awareness as to, okay, I'm sitting down to do this today because if I don't, what I'm sacrificing is this vision that I love so much and that I'm so excited about. When you have that awareness, discipline is not difficult anymore. You'll actually have the opposite problem. You'll find it hard to stop working towards the vision, which is, that's another video. Don't get scared by this. Start small, okay? A lot of people get overwhelmed about the vision part. It's okay. You don't need to know your 5 year or your 10 year vision, believe it or not. Just start with like the next milestone. Start with the next thing that could be exciting for you. And you want to make sure it's actually something you can believe in. Because if you don't believe in it, you won't be disciplined because you won't be aware. Like you won't feel in your energy what you're sacrificing by not being disciplined, because there'll be a part of you that goes, it's probably not even going to happen anyway, so I'm not even going to do it. This happened with a client of mine. She was trying to work on her kind of side hustle for a really long time, and she wasn't doing it. She just could not sit down and do it. And we figured out was because she didn't really believe in it. She didn't believe she could do it. She had an underlying belief that she wasn't smart enough. So we had to go and work on that belief. And once we rewired that, she was able to sit down and actually work on the vision because she was connected to it. It. She felt it, she believed in it, she thought it was possible, and then she was excited about it. Okay, so you really need to be connected. You need to be clear about why you're being disciplined. And then you need to be connected to the vision so you feel every single time you sabotage, you know, what you're sacrificing. The last thing is to release resistance. So this is a sneaky one that I talk about sometime. Many of us have this kind of false belief that more success equals more stress. Or, you know, rich people are bad, or I'm going to be lonely if I'm wealthy, or if I become successful, I'm going to lose all my friends. You, without you knowing it, you might have. If you've regulated, if you're clear and connected to a vision and you're still sabotaging, you might still have resistance towards what you say you want, and that's what's stopping you from being disciplined. So you need to look at what the resistance is. You know, do you have a fear that more success is going to be more stressful? Because if so, you need to go and work on that. And you need to realize you're the one who's writing the story. This is your success. So you get to dictate whether it's going to be more stress or less stress. You're the one creating your experience, so identify when you really picture your vision, are there any parts of you that don't want that? Because those are going to be the parts that stop you from being disciplined. And you want to go and talk to those parts of you, figure out what they're afraid of. Your subconscious will then know that what you're working towards is safe. Which is the whole kind of premise of resistance, right? When you have resistance, it's because it's part of you who think it's unsafe or it's worse. And so that will cause you to fall off. You want to be feeling like the vision is exciting, meaningful and possible and then also safe. When you can get these three ducks in a row in your energy, right? You shift your consciousness, you come out of the fear based state. You come out of the ego survival state. You go into your creative consciousness by becoming regulated. Regulated and actually addressing your emotional pain that's blocking you from rising up in your consciousness. Then you will naturally have a vision emerge, okay? And then when you release resistance, you'll know that the vision is safe. And then you will be. It'll be so easy to be disciplined. I can't even tell you guys. Like, like before I was regulated, before I became more conscious of myself and my energy and everything, I was running around with all of these traumas, all of these patterns, all of this fear, all of this insecurity. I was in toxic relationships all the time. I was living in terrible, chaotic situations and I didn't even know, like this is how it's connected to the vision. I didn't even know that I could be on YouTube or I could be a coach. There was maybe once or twice, like a very, very quiet voice in the back of my head said, yeah, that'd be cool. But I couldn't even consider it because my consciousness, my state was so trapped in fear that I could not perceive a greater vision for my life. So it wasn't until I started, you know, leaving those situations, breaking my patterns, healing from my childhood, healing from my past, healing, all of that, that then all these blocks on me being in a higher state were removed. Then I got a vision for my life, right? And then everything else flowed from that. That one crazy thing that you learn when you go on this journey in your consciousness is your ego based consciousness. That kind of lower state of awareness. It usually has things backwards, okay? And one of those things is also discipline. So when you're in that state, we chase discipline for validation. You know, we chase it so we can get some sort of approval or so we can achieve something or status that looks good to other people. That's usually what the ego wants in terms of discipline. And so we're doing it out of like self hate and punishment. You need to be better. You need to just do it. When actually when you shift your consciousness and your awareness and you enter a higher state of awareness, it becomes an act of self love because you realize, hey, I am great. I could do all of these things. I believe in myself so much that I know I can have so much better than I have right now. And so I'm going to lock in and I'm going to get it done. And I want to see my potential because I love myself. So it's typically the opposite, actually, of what the ego says. So the real goal is not to lock in and work harder. The goal is to fall in love with yourself so much that you have compassion for yourself. You regulate yourself. You heal the stuff from the past. And you fall so in love with your authenticity and your vision that you cannot help but to act in accordance with it. It. That's the goal. I hope this sheds some light on the topic of discipline that maybe you haven't heard of before. I hope it kind of illuminated some things to you. I hope it encourages you to really focus on the thing that's most important to you. If you are in that survival mode, please just focus on healing out of that first, because otherwise you're just going to keep chasing your tail and you're not going to get anywhere. That was kind of harsh, but that's all for this video, guys. I hope it helped. Please remember, you've got everything you need to live the life of your dreams. You just have to tune back into yourself and let go of the noise. I will see you all next week.
