Because when your happiness depends on this relationship, or this person, or this man you've just found, or this woman you just found, or this money you just got, or even you just. Maybe you're in a new career and you just love your career and it fulfills you. If that is the overriding feeling in your life, if the number one thing in your life is your career, or your relationship, or your children, even your children, if that's your number one, and it's not your connection to the light of the Creator every day, as if you have nothing and you need to start over, then all those things that you're depending on will leave you.
