Elliott Botterill explains why teaching image creation is so hard: he has "the eye" for what works, but can't easily pass that instinct to students who don't naturally see it.
I'd be lying if I said that teaching people how to create images was really easy, and in truth it's been a great source of frustration for me in my career as I instinctively almost knew what a good image looked like because I have the eye. And the eye is a term for somebody's ability to either innately recognize what truly eye-catching and effective design and creative is. Or of course, they can develop it over time. And I used to have the eye, and so many people just don't have the eye.
