Hey, today I want to give you one super easy, super quick, easy to implement trading tip that anyone can implement.
To dramatically level up your trading results right away. You don't have to wait months or years from for the benefits. You get it today. Now if that sounds good, keep listening. My name is Adrian Reed, founder of Enlightened Stock Trading. And here's the thing. For the last 20 years, 20 years, I have not watched the news, I've not read a newspaper, and I have not looked at any of those sorts of public media for insights, for guidance, for tips, for information to do with anything to do with the markets. Why not? The reason is the financial media is there to shock and entertain you, to grab your eyeballs, to keep you focused on that channel or that paper so they can sell advertising. It is not there to inform you to make sensible trading decisions. So how does the media grab your attention and keep you fixated on their channel? Well, they sensationalize things. They, they shock you with bold headlines and outlandish statements and they figure out what's trending and what's important to people and what's going to make you hold, stay on that channel and they study that and they present those articles. They do not present the most useful, powerful, valuable trading information ever. So if you want to improve your trading, all you have to do. Well, there's many ways to improve your trading. But if you want to improve your trading, the quickest way to get some improvement today is to turn off the news, stop looking at newspapers, and focus on objective rules. Here's the problem. If you have a habit of watching the financial news, of reading the newspaper, you get all of these different viewpoints, you get sensationalized headlines, you get people trying to sell products, covert product placements, you get people with hidden agendas. And then you know, of course, you've all got the whole sensational thing that drives your emotions crazy, both positive and negative, to keep you glued to the screen. And any sort of emotional manipulation like that is bound to affect your trading. When you watch the news media, you're going to find that you'll either feel optimistic about the world or you'll feel pessimistic about the world. And you'll probably swing from one to the one, one to the other, from one day to the next, depending on what the media is trying to do that will wreak havoc on your trading decisions. The easiest way to eliminate all of that issues is to put objective rules in place that tell you exactly when to buy and exactly when to sell. Objective rules that you can say, when this happened, I'm going to buy when that happens, I sell so that you can test your entries, you can test your exits, you can make sure that it gives you an edge. And you just follow those rules. Ignore all of the media. Now, I have a whole bunch of experience over the last 25 years, particularly early in my trading career when I was playing with this. And, you know, at the beginning, I would read the newspaper, I would look at the financial news to try and get insights to help me make better decisions. And when I implemented a trading system, I kept watching the news because I was fascinated to see what was going on and could I improve my system by having all this extra insight. And what I found was it was taking me a lot of time, it was causing me a lot of stress. And every single signal I was getting from my trading strategy, I would second guess, okay, what's the news saying about this? And what are the economic conditions that are happening out there right now? And all of these things. And it made trading really stressful. I made the decision to turn all that off, and all of a sudden, the amount of time and energy my trading took shrunk dramatically. My consistency went through the roof. I was much more consistent making decisions, and I was making much better decisions because it wasn't emotional, because I didn't have that sensational garbage going to my brain every day. So eliminate the news, follow your system, and you will see, watch your trading results increase very, very quickly.
