A short YouTube interview where Adrian Reid speaks with Craig about Craig's transformation from inconsistent, emotional trading to systematic trading. Craig recounts trying many approaches (fundamental, technical, point-and-figure, candlesticks, gold mining stocks) before discovering backtesting and systematic rules, which reduced emotional stress and increased his sense of control. He highlights diversification and automated trading across Canada, US, and Australia markets (including earning while asleep), credits community/team support as essential, and notes his progress occurred over about two years.

So Craig, what.
How did you feel before you discovered systematic trading when you were trying to trade? What was the, what was the sense.
That you were getting the goals all over the place? Very inconsistent.
Just pause right there. How many of you feel all over the place sometimes when it comes to your trading? Anyone? Yeah. Thank you, Craig, for your honesty. I love that.
Sorry, go on. All right. Now I tried everything. I tried like fundamental analysis, technical, technical analysis, point and figure charting, candlestick charting, everything. And I said I could never get there, I could never find the way. I even tried gold mining stocks and had plenty of sleepless nights with those as well. So yeah, completely well over the shop.
Yeah, we had a, we had a very similar path, I think, you and I. So I'm glad you discovered it. So what did systematic trading do for you? Like when you found systematic trading and you learned to back test, like what was the, what was the realization? What was the response to that?
Everything really was just like a really. This is the way to do it. I, it's, it's hard to explain but just when I put everything in the system, my emotions just dissolved. It was just complete. Yeah, I just felt more control myself.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And control is the key, right? Because like we all want to be in control. At least I do. I assure most people who are here want to be. They're here because they want to be in control. And so what about, what about the whole idea of diversification and multiple markets and automation? How's that kind of changed the game for you? Because you're super busy, right? You've got a business that you run, family, kids, like tell us about that.
Yeah, well, I sort of didn't know much about diversification and I really didn't have the time to, to trade multiple markets, so. But it's a bit of a game changer. It's nothing better than waking up the, with especially when you trade in the US market to wake up the next morning and, and see that you made a bit of profit while you're sleeping. It was just, was incredible. So yeah, I love diversification. I love from trading the Canada market and the US market and Australia market at the moment and yeah, that's been great.
Brilliant, brilliant. Thanks so much. So what's one piece of advice you'd give to someone who's kind of learning at this point so they're trying to figure out their way, you know, what you've been around a while now. What's the, what's the best advice you would give?
It's really hard to do it yourself, like, you really need to be a part of a team to do it. I tried and unsuccessfully, but with a. With a team and to be able to ask questions is just unbelievable. And really just also just take your time with it. Just take the. Do the process. Go through the process one at a time, and you eventually get there. I never thought, looking back, I never thought I'd be where I am in two years, where I am now two years ago. It's just unbelievable.
So, yeah, brilliant. Hey, thank you so much.
I.
You know, one of the things I love about having you in the community is that you're so eager to keep learning, and you've. You've grown in confidence to the point where I can see you now, you know, responding to other people's queries and going, oh, yeah, I remember feeling like that, and this is how I dealt with it. And it's just. I mean, it's priceless because that, that, that learning curve is so fast. And I think for me, that's just the most rewarding, most amazing thing is seeing someone like you just kind of rocket through the learning curve and realize, oh, I never thought I would get here. Right? So, you know, really, really great work. Well done.
I couldn't do without the team. I really couldn't. So it's just. I just couldn't do without the whole team.
Nice. Wow. Pleasure having you in the. In the community, and thanks so much for joining us and sharing a bit of your experience. I love that so much. Thank you, Craig.
