This is a YouTube video titled "Struggling to Develop Your First Trading System - Here’s How to Win" containing a monologue from July 21, 2025, where the speaker shares their personal experience of initially trying to develop a trading system without prior knowledge or guidance, emphasizing the value of learning from existing examples to accelerate progress.
When I first got into this about five years ago, I tried developing my own system from scratch and that was the first thing I tried to do. I had no coding experience, I had no system development experience. I didn't know what expectancy was. I didn't know what slippage or commissions could do or impact the system or anything like that. I didn't know anything. I was just like. The system I made was buy when something goes below a Bollinger band, a two period Bollinger band, didn't backtest it, didn't anything. Just started writing it up and hooked it up to, to the markets and let it go. And it wasn't a great experience because obviously I didn't know what I was doing. And if I had someone or like to give me a good system, just a baseline system to start with, or I found something online that was just like a good solid starting point for me to just kind of dig into and tear apart and understand and to learn from somebody else first. I think my, I think my progress would have been a lot faster, but at the time I didn't have that. So I spent many, many weeks, weeks banging my head on the keyboard trying to develop something from scratch straight from the get go. So I really think that using something as like an example to start from is really helpful to just kind of learn because, you know, it's like anything, learning from someone who knows more than you is very powerful.
