Adrian Reid tests a viral trading system claiming 92% wins on TQQQ, but finds it only backtested from 2010, missing the 2000 dot-com crash and 2008 financial crisis. Applied to QQQ with full history, the strategy collapses during those downturns, proving it never faced a real market shock.

I found a system online which was really promising. I backtested it, looked amazing, and it was on the TQQQ. It wasn't one of my systems, I just found it on social media, and it looked great until you tested it on QQQ and realized that in 2000 and 2008 it was absolutely decimated. But because it was only designed and published using the data on the triple leverage that doesn't go back that far, it hadn't been through the shock. And so the author of this system was talking about how great and smooth the returns are and everything, but there's no, there's no real shock in the, in the backtesting history. So when the NASDAQ crashes next time, it's going to get absolutely wiped out. So I think having history is probably one of the big levers here.
