A short YouTube commentary by Adrian Reid contrasting TradingView and Amibroker. Reid argues TradingView is suitable for discretionary technical analysis but has a weak backtesting engine, whereas Amibroker (and competitors like RealTest and Wealth-Lab) offer far superior, much faster portfolio-level backtesting (e.g., backtesting an entire Australian-stock universe across 30 years in under a minute) and richer performance statistics.

TradingView and Amibroker are worlds apart. TradingView is great for discretionary technical analysis, drawing lines, chucking indicators on there on a single instrument, doing discretionary TA. But trading TradingView's back testing engine is garbage, and I don't know how else to say it. Amy Amy Broker and and Real Test and Wealth Lab are just miles ahead. Amy Broker is super fast. It, it will backtest a system over the entire universe of Australian stocks, over 30 years of history in under a minute and give you thousands of trades, an entire equity curve and all of the performance stats. TradingView can only backtest a single instrument one at a time. So it's just, it's chalk and cheese. If you've done some work on TradingView, that's great. It's not going to hurt you. But to go the next level, you'll definitely want to use a better backtesting engine. It.
