Instructional video demonstrating how to measure for a deco-frame shutter on a drywall-wrapped arch-top window. Covers recommended practice (place a sample frame to mark planned position), how to measure order width (outside edge of frame to outside edge), measuring order height at the center high point, and the critical method for measuring side leg heights by locating the arch-to-vertical 'break point' and measuring from that top point to the bottom frame. Notes the difference between outside-mount (use outside break point) and inside-mount (use inside break point) references, and that the factory makes no deductions from the provided frame-to-frame order size.

In this video we'll be discussing how to measure for a deco frame shutter application outside mount on a drywall wrapped arch top window. Unlike a standard rectangular window where only width and height measurements are needed when working with arches, the side frame leg heights are also required for ordering. As a best practice measuring technique, we recommend the measurer take a sample piece of frame and place it on the wall to mark the planned frame position. Determining order width is easy. Simply measure from outside edge of frame on one side to outside of frame on the other side for a frame to frame width order size. Measuring order height at the center high point is done exactly in the same fashion as measuring width, but properly measuring leg height takes more focused attention. In this training example, blue painters tape is used to create a drawing surface. Then the frame is positioned in a way that simulates the arcing of the shutter frame. The point at which the outside of the frame ends its arcing and becomes straight vertical or the break point is the actual top measure reference point of the leg height. Measuring from this top point on the outside of the frame to the bottom of the bottom frame is the leg height order size. This is the way to measure when using outside mount frames. Inside mount frame uses the inside break point as the measure reference point. When specifying deco frame, the factory makes no deductions from your frame to frame order size.
