Eric Roberts explains why he doesn't stay shredded year-round: maintaining visible abs tanks his lifting strength, he'd rather eat more food, and at this point in his life he just doesn't care that much. He does short cuts a few times a year when he wants to show them off.

Here are 3 reasons why I do not have a shredded six-pack all year round. Number 1, I like lifting heavy weights. And for me to maintain the body fat percentage needed to maintain a shredded six-pack, my workout performance inherently suffers and I'm not able to push as hard in the gym. So for me, having a shredded six-pack isn't worth lowering my workout performance. Number 2, I like to eat food. And for me to be able to maintain a lower body fat percentage to have my six-pack showing all year round, it's just not worth it to me. I'd rather be a little bit higher body fat percentage and be able to enjoy more food. And number 3, I just don't care that much. When I was younger, I cared a little bit more, but as I've gotten older, I've just realized it's not that big of a deal. Now don't get me wrong, every now and then I'll do some mini cuts to bring my body fat percentage down to show my abs more, but for, I'd say, 8, 9, 10 months out of the year, I do not have shredded 6-pack abs. Just my 2 cents, and I hope this helped.
