Two fitness instructors share three ways to stabilize Bulgarian split squats: use an inclined bench so your back foot sits in the crevice, lean your torso forward slightly as you descend, and hold a dumbbell or have a partner spot you for balance.
3 tips to make Bulgarian split squats suck a little bit less. Instead of trying to put your back foot on something flat, get one of these adjustable benches, set the incline up on both the back and the seat, and then you can put your foot on the crevice of the incline, and now you're much more stable.
Number 2, instead of trying to stand straight up like this and struggling, you're going to want to lean your upper body forward a little bit and then squat down as so.
If you really struggle with balance, you can just hold one dumbbell instead because that will help your balance.
Or you can hold on to something. It is okay to hold on to something when you're doing these. You're going to feel it and enjoy it a lot more. And if you really want to make it easier, do them with your best pal.
