Eric Roberts identifies three workout mistakes: resting only 15-40 seconds between sets instead of two minutes, counting warm-up sets as working sets, and doing multiple full-body workouts weekly. He recommends longer rest periods, making all prescribed sets challenging, and switching to split routines like lower-upper-lower-upper.

If you are doing one of these 3 things in your workouts and your goal is to get stronger, lose fat, and build muscle, I might rethink these 3 things. If you are resting for 15, 30, 40 seconds in between your sets, I would stop doing that. You're not giving your muscles or your central nervous system enough time to recover, which means you can't push as hard in your next set, which means you can't lift as heavy or do as many reps, and your performance and your results suffer. Try to rest for at least 2 minutes. The second one, stop confusing warm-up sets for working sets. If your workout program says 3 sets of 6 to 10 reps, that's not the first set is super light, the second set is kind of hard, and the third set is finally difficult. No, all 3 sets should be difficult and close to failure. And number 3, please stop doing multiple full-body workouts per week. Your body is not able to recover from that. My 2 favorite workout splits are going to be 3 days a week with lower body, upper body, full body, or 4 days a week, lower body, upper body, lower body, upper body. Hope this helped.
