Eric Roberts breaks down three squat fixes: hinge your hips back like a karate chop instead of keeping your chest up, widen your stance past shoulder width with toes out, and pull your shoulders down while squeezing an orange between your armpits for stability.

If you are doing this exercise and no matter what, even if you have perfect form, you still never feel like you're doing it right, well, try these 3 things. It just might help. Number 1, instead of trying to keep your chest up on the way down, I want you to think about karate chopping your hips back first, getting a slight lean forward in your torso, and then you can go down into your squat. Because when you try to keep your chest up, you arch your lower back and you're going to feel restricted in how low you can go. Number 2, instead of having your feet so close together, I want you to widen them so they are outside shoulder width with your toes slightly pointed out. This will open up your hips, allowing you to get a much lower range of motion. And tip number 3, I want you to think about pulling your shoulders down towards your back pocket while you're trying to squeeze an orange between your armpits. Now, this might sound funny, but when you do this, you will make sure to keep your back safe and you will maintain the proper torso position. Try those things out and I hope it helps.
