Weight loss comes down to calorie deficit, but eating mostly junk food causes muscle loss and a slower metabolism. The better approach: get 80% of your deficit calories from clean, high-protein foods and use the remaining 20% for treats.

If you ate 1,500 calories of candy, Pop-Tarts, and Oreos, you would lose the same amount of weight as if you ate 1,500 calories of eggs, chicken, fruits, and veggies. So while technically you can eat anything in a calorie deficit and still lose weight, if you eat too much junk food, you wouldn't just end up losing fat, you would end up losing muscle as well, which would not only end up slowing down your metabolism, you would end up with no muscle definition versus if you eat your typical clean, healthy, high protein foods, you will lose all body fat and you'll be able to build muscle at the same time. So if your goal is to lose fat, not just lose weight, try to make 80% of your calorie deficit come from your clean and healthy foods, and then 20% can come from your treats or things you enjoy.
