Stop Wasting Money On These Supplements

In this solo YouTube video, Eric Roberts walks viewers through the supplements he personally takes every day, explaining why he uses each, recommended dosages, and practical tips for safe and effective use. He starts with the five core daily staples—creatine, protein powder, fish oil, magnesium, and vitamin D—detailing the scientific evidence behind their benefits (muscle growth, recovery, anti‑inflammation, sleep quality, bone health, mood, etc.), optimal dosing ranges, and safety considerations such as kidney health for creatine and fat‑co‑administration for vitamin D. Roberts then covers secondary products he uses less frequently, including pre‑workout, low‑melatonin sleep aids, digestive enzymes, a multivitamin as an insurance policy, and electrolyte/hydration powders, describing when and why he adds them to his regimen. Throughout, he stresses the importance of product quality, warning about mislabeled or “shady” supplements (e.g., creatine gummies) and highlighting his long‑term partnership with Legion Athletics, whose products are third‑party tested. He discloses his affiliate code, invites questions, and cross‑promotes a related weight‑loss video. The overall message is a no‑BS, evidence‑based guide to avoid wasting money on unnecessary or low‑quality supplements while ensuring the basics are covered.

All the supplements I actually take and why. What supplements should you actually be taking? Well, I'm going to run through all of the supplements I actually take and why. And I'm not saying you have to take all of these. I'm just sharing what I use and why I use them. And you can decide for yourself which ones you want to take. First up, we're going to start with the most researched supplement out there, creatine. It is proven to help you build more muscle, recover faster from your workouts, have more endurance, build more strength. And it's also even shown to help with mental health, brain health, depression. And no, there really are no negative side effects. So as long as you have a functioning kidney, if you have preexisting kidney issues, don't take it. But as long as you have a fine kidney, you can take this and it's not going to cause hair loss. It's not going to cause acne. It's not going to cause bloating because creatine pulls water into your muscle cells. It has nothing to do with the bloat in your stomach, especially if you get a micronized creatine monohydrate. This is the easiest form of creatine to digest. I personally take 10 grams per day, but I'm also 6'4, 250 pounds. And research has shown if you're a little bit on the bigger side and have more muscle mass, then you may benefit from a little bit extra creatine. But most people will be fine with just 5 grams Of creatine monohydrate per day. Second is protein powder. And truthfully, I don't even consider this a supplement. I just consider this a food, but it's just like eating a chicken breast. It just tastes way better and it's way easier sometimes. And it definitely tastes way better if you get this protein powder flavor, which is my own flavor. But really, it's just an easy way to get in extra protein during the day because most people struggle with eating enough protein. Next up, we have fish oil. And fish oil is great for anti-inflammation. And this can help things like your joint health, your inflammation from workouts. And it's also been shown to help brain health and cognitive function as well. If you're going to take fish oil, just make sure that the fish oil that's inside of it, it is at least 1,000 milligrams of EPA and at least 800 milligrams of DHA. And you'll see that on the back of the fish oil that you buy. Next up is probably the most underrated supplement out there and the one that most people should be taking. Magnesium. It helps with sleep, it helps with muscle recovery, and it helps keep your electrolyte balance in place so you're not dehydrated. Usually anywhere from 200 to 400 milligrams per day before you go to bed, because that's how you'll be able to increase your sleep quality. Fifth is vitamin D. Once again, one of the most underrated supplements and probably the thing that most people are the most deficient in, unless you like live on a fucking island, which if you do, I hate you. Vitamin D helps with bone density, it helps with mood, it helps with your hormones. And depending on where your vitamin D levels are at, usually taking 2,000 to 8,000 IUs per day is a good place to start. If you'd like to get your blood work done first to see where your vitamin D is, you can. If not, you can just start supplementing right away. And when you take it, make sure to take it with a food that is high in in dietary fat. So think avocado, eggs, peanut butter, fatty fish, red meat, because that is how you're actually going to absorb and digest the vitamin D as best as possible. And I would say these are my 5 staples. I will take these every single day no matter what. And truthfully, I think most people should be taking these 5 every single day. Now, there are some other ones I take which I think are less important, but I will still talk about as well. Next is going to be pre-workout, and this is just because I like wanting to punch people or myself in the face before I go and work out. It helps me with my energy, it helps me with blood flow, helps me with better muscle contractions, muscle pumps in my workouts. It just gives you a bit more kick for the workout. You can either go with one that has caffeine or one that doesn't have caffeine, and you would take it roughly 30 to 60 minutes before your workout. Now, next up is something I actually love, and I really do take this every single day, which is a sleep supplement because I'm somebody who tries to prioritize my sleep as much as possible. But I like to take supplements for sleep that are not high in melatonin. And for example, this one from Legion only has 0.5 milligrams of melatonin. So if you struggle with sleep at all, I definitely think it's worth at least giving a shot. Next up is a supplement I take for gut health. And this is really especially when I am eating a lot of food, like right now for example. My maintenance calories are roughly around 3,500 calories. calories per day, give or take a couple hundred both ways. Like, sometimes I eat 4,000 calories and I still maintain my weight. I know you're pissed off, it's all good. But when I do that, I find that if I take this digestive supplement, especially when I eat meals that are higher in carbohydrates, I just feel a little bit lighter, I feel a little bit less bloated, and I feel I digest food a little bit more efficiently. So again, by no means is this necessary, But if you feel like you might want some extra help with digestion, could be something worth looking into. And then last but not least really is just a multivitamin. And again, I don't think a multivitamin is an absolute necessity, but the way I think of it is it's just like an insurance policy. I'm making sure I get all of my vitamins, minerals, nutrients. I really do try to get as much of my vitamins and minerals through my food, but even if you have the best diet in the world, It's still very hard to do that. So again, do I think you need this? No, I take it because I'm trying to cover all the bases that I can. And the last one, again, I do not think this is a necessity, but some sort of hydration or electrolyte supplement. And I really tend to use these only a specific couple of times throughout the day. Number one, if I wake up and I'm just feeling a little bit dehydrated or a little bit brain fog, a lot of times that can be the case because you are dehydrated. So I'll use it right when I wake up, or if I know I'm, you know, have been outside and I've been like kind of doing some outside cardio, getting some walks, been sweating a lot. I will use it then, or I will use it before, during, or after my strength training workout. Because when you work out, if you're working out hard, you are using up your electrolytes. You're sweating out sodium and just you're using electrolytes. So if you don't replenish those electrolytes, it can negatively hinder your performance, your recovery, your strength gains, energy, and mood. So I will take it Any one of those 3 times as well. Once again, I don't think this is a necessity, but if you are somebody who is working out hard and you want to be as hydrated as you possibly can, could be something worth supplementing and looking into. Another thing I'll say on electrolyte supplements, a lot of people drink a lot of water, but if you only drink water and you're not replenishing electrolytes, you can actually become more dehydrated because you'll just end up peeing out all of your electrolytes. So if you are somebody who you maybe do drink a shit ton of water, potentially looking into supplementing some electrolytes as well. And that's really everything I use. And as you can probably tell, yes, this is the brand that I personally work with and I personally use. No, you don't have to use this brand if you don't want to. But I will say some supplement companies are pretty shady. For example, there's been some cases recently where creatine gummies especially have said, oh, there's 5 grams of creatine in these, and then people will take them and do tests to see if there's actually creatine in them, and there's no creatine. So they're just selling you gummies and making a shit ton of money off of you. So I do think the brand you work with does matter. Every single product from this brand, Legion Athletics, is third-party lab tested, so you can be sure you're actually getting the ingredients that are inside of these labels. And so that's why I like them. That's why I've worked with them for almost 5 years now. If you'd like, you can comment the word Legion below, or you can click the link below to check out their supplements, and you can use my code Eric at checkout. And I'm pretty sure that will get you buy one, get one half off of anything else. So if you wanted some protein powder and creatine, buy one, get one half off. If you wanted pre-workout and magnesium, buy one, get one half off. And yes, I do get a little bit of commission when you use my code. Trust me, it's not how I make my living, but I want to be transparent and upfront about that. So if you want to try it out, you can. But like I said, if you don't want to use this brand, you don't have to. It's just the one I use and I trust. So I hope this helped.
