All right, 1, 2— it's fucking freezing, dude. Wow, that is so fucking cold. Dude, this is fucking stupid. All right, 1, 2, 3. All right, this is post-first cold shower. I haven't even shaved yet or anything, so forgive me. I apologize. And yes, I promise I have shorts on. I have pants on. Man, that shit was cold. Real cold. It was crazy because like, you probably saw in the video, I couldn't like catch my breath at first. And I was like starting to worry there for a little bit. And I mean, listen, like, you know, I've gotten into like cold pools and whatnot. And so like, I get it, but that was just like a relentless, um, a relentless— just like I was truly trying to catch my breath. And so that was kind of crazy. But once I would say past like the, like the 30-second, 20-30-second-ish mark, um, you know, it really wasn't that bad. I mean, it was still not great, but it really wasn't that bad after that. And so honestly, right now I feel great. Like, I have Way more energy. I feel like I'm way more like mentally focused, and I am now currently seven days into taking a cold shower every morning at four thirty a.m. Day seven, cold shower. I'm really fucking tired, and this is the absolute last thing that I want to do.
I really think I might just turn it to hot.
And then still go under and act like it's cold. Here is what I am doing, here is why I am doing it, and here are the benefits I am seeing from doing it. First off, what am I doing? Well, simply put, I am getting into a cold shower every morning when I wake up at 4:30 in the morning. I already wake up at 4:30 anyway. You can watch one of my previous videos I did on that if you'd like. And I'm just starting the day off Getting under that cold shower. Get under there and just kind of chill, no pun intended, for 3 minutes each day. Don't actually like take a full shower because what I will do is since I'm waking up and I'm going right into that cold shower, what I'll normally do is I'll take that, I will then dive into starting my work for the day, I will then work out, and then I will come back after my workout and take my regular shower.
Honest to God, this one is just like a normal regular hot shower. that I take after my workout. Cold shower is just right when I wake up in the morning for 3 minutes. I honestly wanted to do a cold plunge, but 2 things. Number one, I don't have any room in this apartment for me to put a fucking cold plunge tub. And then number 2, I just know myself. I'm not going to go out every single day and buy 2 bags of ice to put it in my bathtub that I don't even fit in anyway. So for now, this will have to do— taking a cold shower at Every single morning. Next, why am I actually doing this in the first place? Well, a couple of different reasons. Sure, like maybe some of you have heard, whether it's Andrew Huberman or some of these other people talk about the benefits of taking a cold shower, taking a cold plunge from the metabolism standpoint, from the dopamine standpoint, from the energy levels and mood enhancement standpoint, potentially decreasing some stress, anxiety, all of that good stuff. So yes, somewhat for all of that good stuff, I'm doing it, but Honestly, I'm only really doing it because I would always look at people and be like, fuck that, I would never end up doing that. And so that let me know that I should probably start doing that. Now, don't get me wrong, as you saw in the videos, every single morning I'm still like, fuck this. Day 3, cold shower, 4:30 in the morning. It's as cold as ever. I really don't wanna do this.
I just don't want to do it.
Why would any sane person go under a freezing cold shower when you can take a hot shower? It makes no sense. But that's the entire point. It's the simple fact of I am forcing myself to do something that I don't want to do every single morning right when I wake up. And if I can do that, then I mean, for me, the rest of the day at that point is pretty pretty much a cakewalk. If I can wake up at 4:30, take a freezing cold shower, the rest of the day— I mean, how much harder can the rest of the day get after that? I've already done 2 really hard things to start off my day. For me, it's a bit more mental than I think anything else because I just like knowing that I'm pushing myself to do hard things that make me a little bit uncomfortable. And don't get me wrong, there are probably other ways you could do this as well, right? For example, Sticking to your diet, getting your workouts in, you know, those sorts of things. But I'll be honest with you, for me, and I'm not trying to sound like an asshole here, but you got to remember, like, I'm a coach. This is— fitness is what I do for a living, right? So getting my workouts in, it's not a hard struggle for me because I love working out and I love my workouts. Number 2, diet. It's also not hard for me to stick to my diet because I am a robot with the way I eat. I eat the same things every single single day, and it's very simple and easy for me. So, so realize I probably just sounded like a total d-bag right there saying it's easy for me, but you have to understand the place that I am coming from. I have been doing this fitness stuff every day for the past 11 years, and so I've worked so hard on the habits that have now allowed me to make this easy. And don't get me wrong, there's still days that I wake up and I don't want to do my workout, or there's still days that I wake up and I don't want to, you know, cook my food or whatever it is. And so not that it's easy, it's just like I know the habits are there and they're so strong that I know no matter what, I'll be able to get my fitness stuff done. So I'm not coming from a place of like arrogance or coming from a place of like, oh, I've never struggled with that. Like, no, I, I get it. I understand where you currently are. And hopefully you can just understand I am a little bit farther in the journey in terms of the fitness journey. I'm a bit farther because I've done this every day for the past 11 years, and you will also get there one day as well. All right, now back to the video. And so I wanted to do something that was, you know, in all actuality, very simple and not very time-consuming at all. I spend 3 minutes in the shower in the morning. Now, I may spend longer contemplating how long I should go underneath, and so that might take a couple of minutes as well, but— Day 4, cold shower for 30 seconds. In the morning, trying to decrease the time that I'm sitting here contemplating about it. I don't know how well that's going, but— You know, in total I spend 7 minutes max sometimes if I'm dicking around for 4 minutes or whatnot beforehand. But it's very simple, basic, and something to give me to push myself to do something I don't want to do. And again, that's how I'm starting off my day. Those are really the main reasons why. And no, before Before you ask, I am not doing it from a fat loss perspective. I know there's been some idiots out there talking about from a fat loss perspective. No, I am not doing this from a fat loss perspective because the only way to lose fat is to be in a calorie deficit. And now the benefits. I do believe I'm only 7 days in and I'm going to be doing this for 30 days. And so if you want me to update you after the full 30 days have been completed, Drop it in the comment section below so I can know whether or not to spend time to make that video. But I've only done it for seven days out of thirty, and so from the benefit standpoint, I think number one, like I already talked about, the initial benefit that I was looking for was like knowing that I accomplished doing something that I didn't want to do. I get that immediately every single time I turn off the shower and the water stops, and I'm like, huh, all right. Another day down. I get that satisfaction. I get that sense of accomplishment. I get that, all right, I just pushed myself to do something hard. So that, I get that every single day, every single time. And it's been very cool thus far for me. In terms of the metabolism or energy or dopamine, you know, I will say after I get out of the shower at, you know, 4:42 AM or whatever it ends up being, I do, I can assure you if you get out of there, After a cold shower, your ass is going to be awake. There's no other option. Like you are going to be awake when you step out of that shower. So I do have more energy. I do feel like my dopamine levels are in a good spot and I'm just like feeling good. I'm in a pretty good mood. I can sit down here at my desk and kind of, you know, start the rest of my day in a really good mood, which I think is always really good. And I will tell you this, like, you know, waking up at 4:30, I'm not always like the most energetic. Like I think in some of those videos you can probably see I'm kind of like, Cold shower, day 4.
Day 7, cold shower. I'm really fucking tired.
And you know, I'm a little bit tired, but I'll tell you what, the best way to snap out of that really quickly, get under that cold shower for 3 minutes. You'll step out feeling like, I don't wanna say a brand new person, 'cause I don't wanna like live it up to something it's not, but like you do, like you do feel pretty good and you certainly do not feel tired. So I think it is helping. Thus far, I think I am a fan. Again, I'm going to be doing this for an entire 30 days. And so if you want an update at the end of the 30 days, drop it below. And the one last thing I'll say is if you're watching this and you're— because I got— I get this a lot on my Instagram. You can follow me there if you want to. But I get this a lot on my Instagram. People will message me and say, oh, there's no way I could ever do that. That's the whole point. If you're that person, aside from all of the metabolism and health benefits and this, that, and the other, I would do it just so you can push yourself outside of your comfort zone and push yourself past those like self-limiting beliefs. Because that, again, for me at least, that's the entire reason why I'm doing this in the first place. And if I can do it, you can do it as well. Hope this video helped and we'll chat soon.
