This video will find you right before you lose belly fat

In this fitness coaching video, Eric Roberts draws on his experience with 25,000 clients to explain four physiological/behavioral signals that indicate belly fat is on the verge of loss: (1) the “everywhere‑but” effect where other body parts slim before the belly, (2) a temporary stall on the scale that masks ongoing fat loss, (3) a softening of belly tissue that feels squishy rather than firm, and (4) the “morning flash,” a brief early‑morning glimpse of a flatter stomach that disappears later in the day. Roberts emphasizes that these signals are positive indicators, not reasons to quit, and outlines five concrete actions to maintain progress: keep calories and workouts unchanged, measure the waist weekly, take bi‑weekly progress photos with consistent lighting, and give the process at least three more weeks before making any changes. He uses client anecdotes, metaphors (renovation crew, loading bar, melting ice cube, tide), and points viewers to a free calorie calculator in the description and a follow‑up video on expected timelines.

You are closer to losing your belly fat than you think. After coaching 25,000 clients, I've seen it over and over. Your body gives you 4 signs right before your belly fat disappears, but if you don't know them, you'll quit before this happens. So here is all 4 signs. The first signal is the one that messes with people's heads the most, and it's because You're doing everything right, eating in a calorie deficit, eating protein, lifting weights, and you are losing fat. Your face is leaning out, your arms are looking more defined, but your belly hasn't moved. So you're standing in the mirror thinking, what the hell is wrong with my stomach? Why is everything changing except the one place I actually care about? Here's the thing, nothing is wrong and you're experiencing what I call the everywhere but effect. And it's actually the first signal your belly fat is about to go. Think of your body like a house with 5 rooms and you want to renovate all 5 of the rooms. So you bring in a renovation crew to do the work. The crew can only work on one room at a time, and because they're smart, they start with small, quick, easy wins. So they might do the guest bedroom and then the downstairs bathroom, but your belly—that is the master bedroom. It's the biggest room in the house, so it's last on the schedule. But here's what most people do: they see the crew finishing up the bathroom, and they say, "Why haven't you touched the master bedroom yet?" And they fire the crew. And so, if you quit your plan, you're firing the crew three days. before they start on your master bedroom. And I know this because this happens to me every time that I lose fat. My face leans out first, my side love handles go first, my arms get more veins, but my belly fat sits there like it didn't get the freaking memo. But I've done this enough times to know, even when everything else is changing but my belly fat isn't, that's actually a sign that it's going to come. So if you're losing everywhere But your belly— do not change the plan. The changes you're seeing everywhere else are proof that it's working. But here's where it gets tricky, because your body sends a second signal that scares people even more, and it has to do with the number on the scale. So you've been losing weight consistently, maybe a pound or 2 down on the scale each week, and then it just stops. 7 days goes by, no scale change. 10 days, even up to 2 weeks, and you're still eating the same calories, doing the same workouts. So you start thinking, well, maybe I've plateaued, maybe my metabolism has slowed down, the plan stopped working, and I need to slash my calories, do more cardio. But that's actually not what's happening. I call this the stall, and it's actually a good sign. Think of it like the loading bar on your computer. You know when you're downloading something and it's 10% downloaded, 30% downloaded, 50%, 70%. And then all of a sudden it just hits like 87% and sits there for what seems like and feels like forever. And you're staring at it thinking like, did this thing freeze? What's going on? And then out of nowhere, boom, it's 100% done and downloaded. That's what your body is doing. Fat loss hasn't stopped. Your body is just doing the invisible work that the scale isn't showing you yet. And this happened to one of my clients, Bremer, where in the beginning, he was losing weight pretty religiously every single week. And then the scale didn't move for 10 full days. And he was messaging me asking me, Eric, should we drop calories? Should we add in an extra cardio session? And I basically told him, no, don't change anything. I think you're still on the right track. And so he trusted the process. And on that 11th day, he dropped 4 pounds in a single day, kept the weight off forever. And when we took his progress pictures, we saw his stomach was finally leaning out. So when your scale freezes, don't restart the download. This stall usually comes right before your belly fat actually shows it. Now, the first 2 signals are frustrating, but the 3rd one— this is the one that freaks people out probably the most, because your body does something to your belly that feels like you're going backwards. And I need to explain it before you make a mistake. And this is the signal almost no one talks about. And when I explain it, I guarantee You're gonna watch this and think, holy shit, that's happening to me right now. So here's what happens. You're a few weeks into your calorie deficit, which by the way, if you need to know how many calories you should be eating per day for your calorie deficit, I have a free calorie calculator in the description below of this video. And after you've been consistent, one day you grab your belly fat and it feels different. It used to feel firm, dense, kind of packed tight, but now it feels soft, squishy, and almost jigglier than it did before. And then your brain goes, oh no, I'm getting fatter. I went in the wrong direction. What happened? I've had clients message me in a full panic over this. And what I tell them is what I'm going to tell you is that nothing is wrong. Actually, the opposite is happening. That soft, squishy feeling is signal number 3. I call it the softening. And it's one of the best signs you can get. Think of it like an ice cube sitting on a kitchen counter. When it's rock hard and solid, it's not going anywhere. But right before it disappears, it gets soft, slushy, and it almost looks worse than the solid ice cube does. But that slushy phase is becoming the water, and your belly fat works the same way. If your belly is that hard belly, that means it's locked in. But if it's getting soft, that means it's on the way out. One of our coaching clients, Chelsea, had this happen to her. And as you can tell, because she stuck with it, she has now able to make incredible progress all around, but specifically with her belly fat. So if your stomach is feeling softer, this is one of the best signs you can get. The ice cube is melting. Don't refreeze it by quitting. But this 4th signal is probably the sneakiest one because your body actually shows you the result before it actually lets you keep it. And if you're not paying attention, you will miss it completely. So one morning you wake up and you go to the bathroom. On the way past the mirror, you You catch a glimpse of your stomach and you think, wait, that looked flatter. And for that split second in the morning lighting after you just woke up, you realize you have a flat stomach. But then by noon, your belly goes back to looking the same that it always has— bloated, full, back to normal. So you just dismiss the early morning flat stomach. You tell yourself, well, that's because I haven't eaten yet. That doesn't count. It's not real. If it just keeps going back to normal, but it is real, and it's signal 4, what I call the morning flash. Think of it like a tide going out at a beach. Before the tide fully comes back, you start to get these little glimpses of sand. A patch of the beach will appear for a few seconds, and then a wave rolls back in and covers it up. But if you watch long enough, each time the water pulls back, a little bit more sand will show up until eventually the tide is out and the full beach is just there. So that morning mirror moment for you, that's the sand on the beach peeking through. Even if it disappears by the afternoon because you've eaten and you've drank some stuff, each week that morning vision sticks around a little bit longer until one day you look in the mirror at 6 PM and realize, holy shit, my stomach still actually looks the way it did in the morning and I've got a flat stomach. And this seems to happen almost overnight. Anybody who's accomplished this will tell you down in the comments below. So if you're catching these glimpses of a flatter stomach in the morning, you're looking at your future stomach. It's coming as long as you don't quit. And so now you've gotten all 4 of these signs. There's one massive mistake people make the second they realize these signals, and it ruins everything. And this is the part I really need you to hear, because just knowing the signals doesn't matter if you do the wrong things when you see them. And we've talked about just don't quit, but what specifically should this look like? Well, there's 5 main things you need to do. Number 1, keep your calories where they are. Number 2, keep your workouts the same as they are. Number 3, measure your stomach once a week with measuring tape. Number 4, take a progress photo every 2 weeks Try to get the same lighting in the same pose. And number five, give it three more weeks total without changing anything because it's just like baking a cake. If the recipe calls for 400 degrees at 40 minutes, you can't just set it to 800 degrees for 20 minutes. Otherwise, you will burn it, quit, and have to restart. Some things are just going to take time, and losing your belly fat is unfortunately one of those. And now you might be wondering, well, Eric, how long is it actually gonna take? Don't worry, I did a video on exactly that. You can click this right here to watch that next.
