UB40 - Live In Chile 1989 (San Carlos De Apoquindo)

UB40 performs at Santiago's Universidad Católica stadium on March 18, 1989, mixing reggae classics with Spanish banter and shout-outs to cities across their world tour. The band and narration trace reggae's roots through Bob Marley, Black Uhuru, and Gregory Isaacs, explaining how the genre fused jazz, blues, calypso, and African mento.
Chapters
Not just Bob Marley. Bob Marley was the number one statesman for reggae, the number one representative, and the biggest reggae act the world's ever seen. But we were influenced by all kinds of reggae.
There are so many bands, reggae bands that I can think of that are important to me. As an example, there's I-Nickel Moses, there's Gregory Isaacs, there's the Tamlins.
Black Uhuru.
Oh yeah, there's Stitchy.
Lion Rubby. Just dozens, dozens. Maxi Praise, Daz Ward. Many, many, many. Always the latest one, the newest one. The last one? Yeah, because this is the only band we've ever been in, and so every LP, hopefully we get a little bit better, we learn to do it a bit better, so the last one, you know.
We've known each other for so long that, uh, we never come across— we never encounter any serious problems that could disrupt the band.
Well, Chile, we're about to go and do our contest. Why don't you come and watch it with us?
Yes, hope to see you there.
Come on, let's go! Let's go! Makes me forget the dark. Seeing the sun move. Make me smile. It's a dream. All I can do about it. Please don't make me cry, 'cause I can't save you. Please don't make me cry, 'cause I know there'll be nothing left for me. Oh, let me forget that We stayed together. You said it was me and no one else. Yeah, yeah. And I do want to make it, make things right. Darling, I know you're going to make me cry. You let me cry in peace. Peace, don't shake it. You be fortunate, brother Jimmy. We're here now. It's good to be here. That was off the new album. So is this. This is about using nasty drugs. ¡Oh, oh, oh!
