UB40 set a poem to music about refugees fleeing Darfur and Gaza. Half a million forced to flee, 2 million facing hunger, and a road that runs red with denial. Barefooted feet kick the dust of exile across waterless miles.
A shake and mistake turns into a heartache. When losers have lost, they give and they take. A shake and mistake turns to a heartache. 500,000 forced to flee. A million square miles of emergency. Another 2 million will go hungry. When there's no guarantee for the refugee. The road from Darfur runs red with denial. Waterless mile after waterless mile. Barefooted feet kick the dust of exile. Waterless mile after waterless mile. 500,000. Forced to flee. A million square miles of emergency. Another 2 million will go hungry. When there's no guarantee for the refugee. The road out of Gaza is paved with our souls buried in holes. By the border patrols, washed clean with tears that they cannot control. Drowned in the holes in the land of blood souls. The roadmap to freedom translates as a fake, handshakes and mistake. Turned into heartache. When losers have lost, they give and they take. A check and mistakes turn to heartache. Waterless mile after waterless mile. Waterless mile after waterless mile. Waterless mile after waterless mile.
