Big Brothers Big Sisters is a one to one mentoring program for Coachella Valley kids that's offered free of charge to to families who are looking for a positive role model to spend time with their child, to mentor them and to help them succeed and reach their full potential. You can still RSVP on our website today or you can just show up on Saturday morning and register at the event. We are happy to have more and more people come out to support this event. Besides the walk, we have a variety of vendors. We also have a kids area where we're going to have arts and crafts, paint and read with me the children's literacy, free books to kids as well. So we encourage everybody to come out. And joining me today is Nandez, who's one of our staff members here at Big Brothers Big Sisters, but she is also a big sister and she's been a big sister for two years. Bella, how do these kind of events impact the program, your involvement as a volunteer and support your little sister?
Yeah, of course. So, you know, being a big sister here at Big Brothers Big Sisters for two years now, it has been very fulfilling, very enriching. And with these types of events and, you know, activities that are being put on throughout the Coachella, Coachella Valley, especially, you know, being hosted by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the desert, it gives that opportunity for us, you know, for me to take her out and have that fun one on one time together which this mentoring program provides.
And you know, her and I, we always just enjoy it and you know, get to, you know, not only interact with different people. And my little just always enjoys out and having a fun time together.
We hear from a lot of our families, our parents, that they want their kids to get out, away from gaming devices and video.
Screens.
And enjoy the community, enjoy the wonderful nature that we have here. So our walk and Wellness festival is that opportunity to have a fun, fun time at the event. The walk is going to go from Old Town over to La Quinta Community Park. Going to have a variety of activities that you can do at the park, from basketball toss to rope and hula hoop again to get that heart going and work on your wellness and.
Mental well being. And then after the walk, we have a variety of demonstrations from exercise experts, from Tai Chi, Pilates, Ching. And we have a health and wellness expert that's going to talk about healthy lifestyles and living. So those are all participating in our event.
And we encourage you if you can't come out early to walk, come over to Old Town and at least visit our vendors and participate exercise demonstrations we have maybe you've always wanted to learn how it went.
