How to Turn One Video into Weeks of Content

Jeff Harrison (Swing Point Media) explains a workflow for repurposing long-form video (30–60 minutes) into many short pieces. He demonstrates using Streamyard and a client case (Art Alvarez of Mortgage Works, host of ‘Mortgage Minute’) by cutting 3–4 minute clips to distribute via email and link back to the full episode.

How many times have you heard somebody say, hey, you need to be creating these shorts and videos, like reels and shorts, and posting them about, you know, eight to 10 to 20 times a week. And it just seems overwhelming. Like, how am I going to pick up my phone and film when I'm trying to run my business? Hi, my name is Jeff Harrison, a company called Swing Point Media and I'm going to share with you a little hack today that I just love. And I do it every day with my clients. And it's really the fact that I love long form content. Now when I say long form content, I'm talking like 30, 40, 50 minutes up to an hour. And what that allows me to do, and you could do exactly the same thing, is once it's done, you can cut that up. Now I use a product like you're watching here, I use a product called streamyard. And what I've done is once the initial video is done, like in this case, this is one of my clients, his name is Art Alvarez and he owns a company called Mortgage Works and he does a show every Thursday called Mortgage Minute. And typically he's talking about strategies and techniques on how people can buy homes, what the rates are, in other words. It's very focused on mortgages and the, and the lending industry. But here's the thing. After it's done, I do two things. One is I'll take a three or four minute clip out of that min main, in this case today. If you're watching this, it was on Thursday, 12 June, I cut out a portion that was about three and a half minutes and then I upload that separately and I use it for his email database and I send that out and then they can watch that shorter version and then come back and watch the entire version. But that's not what I want to show you. That part also is easy.
