Good morning. My name is Lisa Ford. I am the sales and marketing manager with Desert Medical Imaging. Having been in healthcare here at the Michelle Valley for the last 30 plus years, I'm trying to help a group of physicians that have gathered themselves as independent physicians in the Coachella Valley. They are not concierge, so there's no additional cost to go see them. But it's about 40 physicians locally that are all independent, meaning they're not owned by the hospitals. And their ultimate goal is to preserve the patient physician relationship. They want to keep healthcare at a high quality but at low cost to the consumer. So they're driven to get the message out to patients. Today I'm hoping that I can help them figure out how to do video a little bit better to sort of reach the audience that they're trying to target. And those are the patients here in Archella Valley and actually surrounding areas. My other path is a sales and marketing manager for Desert Medical Energy. I've been with him for about 10 years. So I'm trying to figure out how we can do more video of our home homepage.
Thank you.
And my ideal customer is all of you.
Good morning.

So if everybody just take your hand, put your.
Place. Morning. I'm Bob Horn. My clients are very short. I've got two nonprofits that I run. One is Red Hot Ballroom where we teach ballroom dancing to kids in 19.
Now 39 schools in the valley to build self esteem, confidence, that sort of thing. But the one that we are doing now, the second one is called All Things Are Possible. We're working with kids with autism. One kid in 68 has it and they're ultra shy. And so through ballroom dancing, playing instruments and singing to get rid of that shyness and give them a place in the community. So my plants are fourth, fifth and sixth graders right now and they'll grow into adult clients later. Wow, that's great. Thank you, Bob. And we had a gentleman come in last.
Just tell us a little about yourself, your business and your ideal client. My name is Mark Sachs. I'M the owner of SWAP Opportunities. We do promotional offers, web based promotions, timeshare fractional resorts, build out websites for a variety of different type of websites. Web consulting for other timeshare companies, not just developing ours for them, where we go in and develop them, set out, plan, do planning, web marketing. Those companies, I'm here just to pick up whatever there's something here to learn. Great, thank you, Mark. We also have a few of our SCORE folks here and we're just going to have them introduce themselves. I'll tell you a little bit about what SCORE does, but we want to introduce them because you may decide before today's over that you want to spend just a few minutes with them because you know right now on the tip of everyone's tongue, it has been this way for many years is hey, I'm just starting, I'm not sure what to do next or I'm at a particular level, I'm not sure where to go next. I need a coach, right. Or I need a mentor and they're very valuable. So if we can start with Steven Stevens to just introduce yourself. Good morning, I'm Stephen Block, I'm mentor, part of a 40 person chapter here in SH Valley. We offer, we volunteer our time to provide management services to anybody starting or in or exiting a business. We have offices on Curly street and office hours in Palm Springs. Thank you for being here. Thank you, Stephen.
I'm Debbie Cohen and I'm a store, I'm mentalist, I have a background as a lawyer and business practice and on top of that I started.
All different kinds of businesses from I had a restaurant, I had sporting good store and I stood while shopping for center and I've had a lot of good solid business experience. I joined SCORE to become a mentor because I retired and I had all this experience.
And nothing to do with it and I scored just with the bill. So I volunteering with score. What Stephen didn't tell you was that SCORE is free and it's confidential and we love to see all of them.
Good morning, I'm Bruce Cameron again I'm a counselor there and just we do it all. So give us a call. I like that.
I'm Rob Johnson and I basically in charge of all the workshops as well.
Thank you. Well, Stephen and Debbie took my thunder about talking about score so I'll just give you a little bit of information. The cool thing about SCORE is again it's free. But today and every time we do a presentation like this because it is with score sponsored by Palm Desert area Chamber of Commerce, if you say, hey, you know what? I like what I heard about this, but I need more direction. Or let's say for instance, again, you say you're in the middle of opening up your business and maybe the next step or writing business plan. They'll be here after we do this presentation and we're done at 8:30. They'll hang around. So if you want to spend 15 or 20 minutes with them, there'll be four or five people here. Or you're saying, hey, I'd like to make an appointment. They can make an appointment for a future date. So they're here only to help you. Now, in the past, and I've got a show of hands, or maybe a show of hands, how many of you ever hired a coach or mentor in the past? They're not cheap, are they? They're very expensive. I spent thousands, thousands of dollars. Amy has spent thousands of dollars. This is somebody who has. They're not thinking, hey, I just want to be a coach. I'm 18 years old. They're saying, I've already done what you're asking them to do. I can walk you down that path faster and easier. And the price is very right. And it's for as long as it takes to get to that level. So again, think about that score. Now, before we get started or as we get started, how many of you have ever done video before that you know of? I mean, I know.
I mean, you participate.
Well, we're going to talk about this, but typically, if it's one of those things, as an example, if I said, hey, Lou, you know, we're going to make a video and we want you to be involved in it. A lot of times this is the first reaction, I need to make a video because it does feel. Stop me if I'm wrong. There's probably some words that we say, say, hey, let's make a video. What's the first thought that comes to mind?
How am I going to look on the video?
How are you going to look? Yeah, how are you going to look? What else? Right.
What are you going to say?
Yeah, what are you going to say right next? Anyone shy?
What's that?
How do I do it? How do I do it? It's complicated. How about the expense? Right. Is the impression is that video is expensive. We see that kind of stuff on television. It's really changed quite a bit. Here's some other things that typically happen. I said, you know, I'd rather throw myself on a railroad track and be running by train than get in front of a camera or maybe, and no offense to the pet people, it's like herding cats. Or maybe you feel like I've got to put all my money out there. I'd rather walk the plank than give up everything I own to make a video. Now if these don't resonate with you, I'll try to make sure that you get the end. Because it is incredibly expensive, very hard and it's scarier than heck. I'm just kidding. Okay, so we're going to get past that.
Seriously. Here's an example of a video. And this is one of those things when we're making videos, they're very, very powerful. They also have a long shelf life. So how many of you do any kind of advertising where you put something on radio, TV or newsprint or you make a flyer? How many people Is it typically dated? Like hey, some events happening in the future. So it has a stop date, right? It might be good for a week or 30 days. Sometimes a video can go out there and it can be there for a long, long time. It's like hiring that salesperson that never takes a break, but it stays a long time. It also makes your website easier to find because Google loves video. When you put it on your website, it increases the chance of being found by 64 times. That's 640% increase in activity if you have a video on your website versus don't have a video on your website. So example, if you're doing pet photography and there's another one in the valley that's exactly the same thing and you've just written all your articles, maybe put some pictures in there that look really good. These actual articles still images, right? But they put a video together and they put it on there telling their story. Everything looks exactly the same, except she has a video there, they'll show up 64 times greater. In other words, they'll. It'll make your product irrelevant. Okay. Because they're going to show up and you won't. The other one is it's like adding staff. I mentioned that whenever you make a video. Let me think, Mark, when you talk about your product, is there anyone better than you to tell your story about your business and what you do? Is there anybody better than me to tell the story? Yes sir. About your business? Probably not. Probably not. So here's the thing. We've all probably had staff who've been in a situation and we interpret what our leader has said. And it's like that whisper campaign. By the time it Actually gets out there and it goes seven or eight people deep. It's a different story. Yes. This allows Mark or any of you to say, hey, this is my story. It's always the same. It always has the key points. And the cool thing about this is if it doesn't, you go back and edit it and make sure it does. So when it goes out, it's absolutely perfect. Anybody interested in doing that? So it's like, hey, when it goes out there, it's working 24 7. You only have to pay it once and never misses telling the entire story. Okay, the other part is very easy to share. When we first started this, it was very difficult. You know, I could send something to you and you couldn't open it. It was too big a file. You know, I had to have some kind of special app or wi fi to be plugged in. Now it's so easy to share. We can send stuff all day long. Like when we get done here, you'll see it. We'll send a video to you and says, thank you. We're going to shoot it right here and send it to you before you leave this morning. It's that quick and easy.
It's also easier to find. As I said, Google loves video. Here's an example of one of our clients, and it's called Vision Roof Services. Now, before we did the video form, they didn't show up. If somebody said, hey, I'm looking for a licensed contractor or roof contractor, we put them up there. And you may not be able to see this, but here's a cool thing. Loves video and it ranks faster. This was first page, very first page. Ten minutes after we finished producing it and put it online. 10 minutes. That's like if I called the desert sun and said, hey, could you put me in today's paper? Hello.
Hello.
No, ten minutes. The other one took a little bit longer, took it a day. But now you're on the front page. So now somebody says, hey, I'm looking for a roof. I'm looking for a licensed contract to my roof. Bang. The other thing it says, we are likely to consume two times greater those ones that have a thumbnail on it. A thumbnail is a little picture. Because 99.7% of our brain would rather have visual stimulation versus we have to write it. So video is very powerful for that. If you want to communicate with that. The other, as it says, I said, that is a visual communication. So this person. We've done several videos forums, so they're ranking 2 and 3 on the first page of Google. If you're not on the first page, anybody understand how valuable that is? If you're on the first page, you're not on the first page. 91% of the people that search will not go to page two or beyond. So if you're on page two or three, you might as well not even be there because you probably can't be seen. And if you're in the top four or five, you're getting about 65% of all the traffic because people are saying, hey, this looks good. It must be good because it's at the top, right? It's like if I'm looking for again, I'm picking on you, Sandy. I'm looking for somebody to do pet photography or people photography. When I say if she had an ad on there, says, well, I'm a pretty good photographer or the best pet photographer in the Coachella Valley, which one would you choose, Lisa?
The best, you bet.
I don't want normal, I want good. I want the best. Right. So a lot of this is how we communicate. As I said, it ranks 64 times higher with video on a website than without. That's incredibly powerful because when you do that, it means more people will find you. And if they find you and your message is on there, you're going to get more activity. That's just the way it is.
So we thought we'd start something today and we're going to do a little exercise and here's how it's going to work in the back I think, is it Bruce? Bruce, you're going to be our volunteer and what we want you to do, there's two pieces of paper in front of you. Even if you're using it for notes, it's for this example. Okay, so if you just get one piece of paper out for right now and what's going to happen is Bruce is going to stand up in the back and he's going to verbally give us clues on what are we supposed to do with this paper. Now I need you to do me a favor. Everybody raise your right hand, say, I will keep my eyes forward.
I will keep my eyes closed.
Okay, good.
Now here's the deal. When Bruce talks about this, there's certain things he cannot say. So you have to interpret what he says using the paper. You won't need to write anything. This is a two handed operation here. Does that make sense? Bruce, are you ready? And you've been instructed what to do and what not to do and you're.
Long. Just make sure everybody Hears him.
Okay. Fold the paper lengthwise in half.
In the other right hand corner, fold the corner down halfway.
Then the left hand corner. Pull back down halfway.
Then hold the right hand piece of paper down halfway.
I don't know where to go from here. Then pull the bottom right corner.
The right hand corner. Fold it down halfway. Right hand corner. On the clock, halfway.
All right, so that was about a minute and. Or, excuse me, about two minutes. Okay, so let's stop right there. Now do me a favor. What I want you to do is I just want you to stop folding or wondering what did Bruce say it was at the right hand corner, left hand corner. I just want to hold it up because they all should look identical, Right?
So just hold it up.
Interesting. Interesting. Okay, hold up. Let me just look at these real quick. That's a cool one, Lisa. Okay, Lou, what is that?
That is exactly.
Very nice. Okay, good. All right. I like that. Okay, so now what I want to do.
Is I'd like to give you a different stimulation. This is on the second piece of paper. Just set that aside as an example in case you need to refer to this for the second one. Okay, so here's what we're going to do.
This is the exercise, and what we're going to do is we're going to follow this process.
Okay. In this video, I'm going to show you how to make this paper airplane. This is called the Dart. This is probably the fastest paper airplane you can make.
Here's what we need. We need one single sheet of paper. What we're going to do is we're going to fold this in half.
Like this. We're going to open this up.
Now we're going to take this corner and fold it in so that this top edge is right along the center of this crease.
Like that. We do the same thing to this side.
Like that. Now what we're going to do is we're going to fold it again, making this edge right along the center.
Okay.
Then we're going to do the same to this side.
This is a really simple airplane.
Not very difficult.
It's.
Now our paper should look like this. Now what we're going to do, we're going to fold it in half like so, inside. So all the folds are on the inside. Now what we're going to do is we're going to take this edge and fold it right along the side, bottom.
Line.
All the way to the point.
Like that. We'll flip it over and do the same thing on this side and make this Edge. Line up with this edge, the bottom edge.
Get it started.
Try to be real careful not to damage the tip. Make the nose just as perfect as possible.
Okay, Then fold up the wings. And there we have the dart. Now, if you find that this spins on you as you throw, it spins around. What you can do is you can fold up these edges here, line them up right here in the back. Try to keep things even.
And that should help it to fly straight.
Okay? Well, there you have it. The dark. Okay, now, before we test fly.
Your creations, do me a favor. In one hand, hold up the first one. And the second one. In the other hand, hold up the other one. And now what I want you to think about is.
If you're not using video and hold it up high, could your clients or potential customers be misinterpreting your message? And your business is not, excuse the pun, it's not flying at the rate we would like it to because we're leaving this for interpretation. When we look up again, do me a favor, just hold up the airplanes again. Now they look like they could take flight. Look around. Now look around and notice. Notice the difference. They actually look like airplanes, don't they, Mark? Okay, some of you. How many of you made exactly the same point? You made a point on the first one, right? Maybe one or two. I think Mark was. Well, I don't know that. I don't think that's FAA regulation. Oh, stealth. Okay, good. So here's what I want you to do. Let's test those. And they're supposed to be the fastest plane, right? So do me a favor, toss them this way. Give them some air time. Okay? Nice. All right.
Incoming. Al flew.
Good.
Give yourselves a hand.
Now, when we do this again, think about, and this is just kind of a thought. What other things could you be doing about making a big airplane? Now think about this.
Making a big airplane.
Who would care? There's about 258,000 pages or videos about how to make a paper airplane.
Let that sink in for a minute. I mean, this is making a paper airplane. There's 258,000 videos currently up there doing that.
And look at this, the top1.16 million views on how to make a paper airplane. Isn't that wild? Like, have you ever thought of going to the Internet and say, you know, I just want to show you how to make a very. Instead of me, let's go to somebody who's really good and they'll go through this. And there's already 16/2 million people said, this is really good, right? Crazy, right? So videos, we don't want to misunderstand, but look at this. Sixteen million, eight million, seven and a half million. I know. Okay, it's only 7.3 million. But come.
Really. And there's 250,000 results for things like that. That's what I'm saying. We love video and rather be shown how to do it than told how to do it. How many of you struggled with the telling? Even though Bruce did a great job. Let's give him a hand.
How many of you were having some struggle interpreting that? Right. Some of those have held up. Right.
Really, really important problem. What's that? After the second instruction, he forgot to tell us to open it.
Why do we open it? Because if you're giving instructions, the instructions were to do make two folds on the right, then make a fold on the left, and then we continue doing folding. It needed to be open to fold it in. But here's the cool thing.
I did not delete it. I didn't tell Bruce not to say that he was giving instructions, how he was interpreting you. You would get that, and then you took that and interpreted. That's what I'm saying. Sometimes we send out a message. We put messages on our website and we put a flyer out, and we hope they're interpreting the way we want them to interpret. This cuts that down tremendously, because I'm looking here, everybody got airborne. We had something that. I mean, look at this one.
That's yours. But there's a lot that look like this. And that's what we want to have happen. Okay, so now most search for video. What do you think that might be? Think about the how to space animals. Animals. How to be an animal.
Right. What do you think?
Yeah, like a how to video. What do you think is the most searched one out there?
Change a tire.
How to change a tire. That's a good one. I like that. Call aaa. Yeah. Okay, here's. Here's what it is. How to tie a tie. Yeah. Now remember, there was how many? Like 258,000. There's almost a million 947,000 pages or videos that teaches how to tie a tie. How many have to watch the tie Tie. Do you need to watch it? Almost a million. You're looking for one that resonates with you, Right? And here's the coolest thing.
23,668,000 people have watched that video on how to tie a tie for beginners. You see what they said? How to tie a tie for beginners. So as an example, if you've been. Mark, if you've been tying your tie for 25 years, would you look at that one? You need an advancement, right? Well, listen.
Exactly. Okay, the next one, it drops way down. 16.9 million views.
Seven years ago. 8,052,000. I mean, these are some incredible numbers. And these are things how to tie a tie, how to make a paper airplane. So I want to start you thinking, in my business, what kind of how to video could I make? But the question is, is. Oh yeah, but there's all these up. There's almost a million videos on that. Have I missed the boat? Like if I wanted to make it? Let's say, for instance, Lise, you want to make a how to tie a tie video. You think there's so many up there. I'll miss that. Watch this. How to tie a tie. Ben Fair decided published February 2015 and he has 9,701 views by now. He probably has almost 10,000. Anybody interested in getting 10,000 more people in about two months? Let's say he did on the very first of the month. 60 days later, he has 10,000 people. That said, I like your message about being a CEO or needing a CEO. Would that help stimulate your business? Yeah, here's a cool thing. How many times did Ben make this video? Once. But he had 10,000 people coming to him. Anybody interested in that? Would that help? You bet.
So we're going to do a little exercise again. And this is where Andrew's going to come up. But we're going to say, hey, what video could you make on a. How to think about your specific business. How to like, now I'm going to cheat one here. If I were in the. Let's say I had a towing company would. How to repair a tire on the freeway. Would that. You think that did. Or how to change a tire. How to change a flat. Right. People. I haven't looked that up, but I bet there's a lot of people doing that. And that would attract people. Your ideal client that you're looking for because then they interact and you can now start that relationship. By the way, I have a towing agency. This is what we do and we take it all over the Coachella Valley. Most people would find that start to know like and trust you. Andrew, come on up.
Yes. So we're doing that exercise. Let's take a few minutes. We're going to do about. We'll take about three or four minutes because I'd like you to tell me, hey, Lou, what kind of video would I make for my business? Right. And so think about that because Andrew's going to ask each and every one of you. He used to be an interrogator for the FBI, so you're not getting out alive. And he's going to ask you. And hey, what are you gonna. What are you gonna make a video about? Because he's gonna show you some stuff that'll be shocking when you go. Well, I have to have the perfect. The perfect light, the perfect sound. Trust me, you don't. All right, so let's get back to a hand.
Good morning, everybody. So just quickly, has everyone had the chances to write down a couple of them things that they could do for their business video? If you had a chance to write that down. How to. Who wants to share. Who wants to share what they could do a video on about the. How to. Yes.
How to ride a bike with your dog. That's pretty cool. Has anyone ever thought of that? That's good. That's a great video.
Step one. Would you buy a dog first? Right.
Rescue the dog. Rescue the dog first. Thank you. Great, Good. Who else wants to share? Brian, you have one.
How to change an air filter on an air compressor.
How to change an air filter on an air compressor. Wow. Who knew you could do that?
Change the oil.
Change the oil. Great. Good job. Thank you. Yes.
How to understand Medicare Advantage.
How to understand Medicare Advantage. How many people would like to know how to understand Medicare? Full stop. Great. Great.
How to leave your home secure and well maintained.
How to leave your home secure and well maintained. That's pretty important. If you're a seasonal person and you're leaving it for a long period of time or going on a holiday, that'd be a great one to do. Good luck.
How to make a reservation for a cruise in the Mediterranean ocean.
Take over. Show us how to do it. I'm ready to go. Who wants to go? Yes. One more.
How to prepare your dog for a photo shoot.
How to prepare your dogs for fellowship. Cool. It's a great video. So you can start to see how. It's not that hard to come up with some good videos, but people will be asking those questions. Often it will be, am I moving too much?
No, I was going to say how to ride a hike with your dog at 20,000 years.
20,000 years already. There you go. So people are looking for this, but as you can see, there's a lot of information. FAQs. How many people have an FAQ? A frequently asked question about their business. Frequently asked questions about their Business or sees the same questions come up for their business all the time from people. Do you want to see the same sort of questions come up for their business? They are great place to start your video, people asking about it. Do a video. You don't have to keep answering emails or phone. You can direct them through a video and say, here's the answer that I want you to have. Does that make sense? Yeah. Okay, so let's have a look at videos that are easy to share with the world. You can upload virtually from any device. These days we've all got a phone or a tablet or a computer that we can upload to the Internet somewhere. So very easy to upload. Where do you upload them to? You've got places like YouTube, you've got Facebook. Facebook's almost not yet, but almost overtaking YouTube and the amount of videos that have been uploaded these days. Vimeo, Vimeo, Instagram, we've got LinkedIn. In fact, nearly every social platform now has the ability to upload a video, even Twitter. So how many people are using Twitter? Wow, that's a lot for this room.
I'm excited.
But you can use video on Twitter now. A lot of them have shareable links. Shareable links means you can easily share them or other people can share your videos as well. So if you are doing a video about how to ride a bike with a dog, then people can share that with their friends. They may say, you know what, I've seen this great video. I'm going to share it with my auntie who rides a bike with a dog. All wrong. She needs to learn how to do it. It's easy for them to share. And then you can also embed those videos that are on YouTube or any video you like onto your own website as well. So you can have people coming to your website and watching those videos. And then you can repurpose these blog posts and all sorts of content. Really, the options are endless. Now even bad videos get watched. Bad videos get watched. So this is a lady, her name is Susan Cross and she teaches accounting. This is going to be riveting for everybody. Right? Who wants to learn some accounting? This video here has 405,000 views. 405,000 views about accounting basics. Where did accounting come from? How many people have watched this video?
Come on.
It's exciting, right? You've watched it, Bruce, have you? I bet you have. So this is a super high quality video with state of the art transitions. I want you to all get excited, get out the popcorn, because here it comes. Seriously, Here it comes. This is exciting.
Financial accounting. Welcome.
We are starting with chapter one of financial accounting.
You through that?
Seriously. It's like nails down a chalkboard. This is terrible. But Remember, it's had 405,000 views. Now this lady here has uploaded about 600 videos on accounting. Who knew that you could do that many videos on accounting, Right? But she has done this consistently over time. How much do you think she paid to get that video produced?
Absolutely nothing, did you say? That's right. You wouldn't want to pay for anything like that. It sounds terrible, but all it was was her in front of a whiteboard, flip chart and talking about some numbers and stuff. The production costs were minimal, but she still had 405,000 views. We'd like 405,000 views on their videos. Right?
Okay, so did anybody complete it?
Did anybody complete the video? Yes, in the comments. A lot of people really liked it. It's good information. It looks like it's bad information. It's good information if you can sit through that scratching voice and that terrible sound. Depends on which way you look at it. So let's ask a question. If you invested, say $1,000 to create a professional video.
How long would you want, how long would it be to see a positive return on your investment, do you think? How long would it be? Days?
Could be days.
It could even be less than days sometimes, depending on how quick things are. We saw that guy who created the Thai video three weeks ago. It was actually. He created that Thai video. 10,000 views. Now he's not going to make any money out of Thai, but he has the potential to make. If he was showing something that was, that was his business, he could make some money out of it pretty quick. We'll do some figures in just a moment.
So.
So here's a case study for us real estate agents. This is a real estate agent home tour videos. Okay, so they do a video of the home. They go into the home and check it out. They pay.
$750 for a nice looking video created. Okay, so they pay someone to do the video. They don't do it themselves, but they put a nice video up on YouTube and on their site so people can actually remotely look at this house rather than driving from door to door. Does that make sense? When they sold this house, and in this case they did, they sold the house, they made their Commission, which is 3% of the sale. $12,000 from investing this one video. Now how many people would have spent $750 to make 12,000? Everyone should put their hand up. Right. How many people do it? I just want to see if you're alive. So.
Here'S a couple of videos I want to show you quickly. These are all about branding now, telling your story about your business. Now these are professionally created videos, but I want you to understand how they're messaging or how they talk about their brand. How many people have ever heard of Dollar Shave Club? How many people have never heard of Dollar Shave Club? Okay, good. So this is a video. It's actually an ad, but this guy, it's a pretty simple ad as you'll see. Watch how they message and talk about their brand.
Hi, I'm Mike, founder of DollarShaveClub.com. what is DollarShaveClub.com? well, for a dollar a month, we send high quality razors right to your door. Yeah, a dollar. Are the blades any good? No, our blades are great. Each razor has stainless steel blades, an aloe vera lubricating strip, and a pivot head. It's so gentle, a toddler could use it. And do you like spending $20 a month on brand name razors? 19 go to Roger Federer. I'm good at tennis.
And do you think your razor needs.
A vibrating handle, a flashlight, a back.
Scratcher and 10 blades?
Your handsome ass grandfather had one blade and polio looking good pop up.
Stop paying for shave tech you don't need.
And stop forgetting to buy your blades every month. Alejandra and I are gonna ship them right to you.
We're not just selling selling razors. We're also making new jobs. Alejandra, what were you doing last month?
Not working.
What are you doing now? Working. I'm no Vanderbilt, but this train makes. Hey. Stop forgetting to buy your blades every.
Month and start deciding where you're going.
To stack all those dollar bills. I'm saving you. We are dollarshaveclub.com and the party is on.
So is that entertaining?
Do you think they spent a lot of money on the production of that video? Right? It wasn't a lot of money, but the message was there. But it was also giving you an idea about the personality of that business. Does that make sense? Yep. So the next one I want to talk about is a company called.
No, not you. Blendtec. How many people have ever heard of Blendtec? They make blenders. Now, these guys have been doing this for a long time and I want you to notice how often they're really pushing their product. Because in this video, they're not pushing their product at all. They're creating content that's educational but entertaining at the same time. It has a message about their product. They do their own little TV show every week and they call it. It's called Will it Blend? Will it Blend?
I'll let you watch it. Okay. And then it's only two. It's only about two minutes, two and a half minutes. But you'll get the message. And I want you to. I want you to think about what is it that they're trying to tell us?
Will it blend? That is the question.
Are you having trouble deciding which new phone to get? Yeah, neither are we. But we have two phones here. And some people are telling me they're having a hard time making up their mind, so I am going to help them out. Are we ready?
Lumia 929. Nobody wants that.
Here. The Galaxy Note 3.
And over here.
Seems like this larger size doesn't want to come out.
The iPhone 6 Plus.
I think I'll press the Newton button. And over here I think I'll press the who's copying Blue button.
Phablet smoke. Oh, don't breathe this.
Where's the class?
Have been doing this for a long time. They do all. All sorts of new inventions that come out. The iPad came out. They broke it in half and chucked it in and blended the iPad. Now, does that make entertaining viewing? Right? It talks about. What does it talk about? What does it give us? What information did you get from that video?
The strength behind the blender.
The strength behind the blender. That's exactly what they wanted you to get. Because they said, well, what is our market, usp? What can we be different about everybody else? And a lot of these other blenders were breaking, the blades were breaking, chipping off. So what they do is they say, we're going to show you how strong our blades are. We can blend anything. And I don't think they've really been stumped too many times where the blades haven't blended what it is that they're putting in. But to you, does that say, hey, this is a pretty good quality blender, if you can see that they do that sort of thing, right? Because no more breaking your blades on a banana anymore. You can chuck whatever you want in there. So they're doing this sort of stuff. So these guys have been doing this for about six years, I think, and they're doing all sorts of. All sorts of different products. But it's keeping people interested. Now. Not once did you see the price of Blendtec. Did you see the price. Did they say, come and buy it where to go and buy it. They didn't tell you any of that. It wasn't a sales pitch. It was there for entertainment. But giving you the message of, hey, these are the best, strongest blenders and paper planes you've ever seen.
All right, so videos are super powerful. Let's have a look at a couple other tips. Video benefits. Most powerful digital marketing tool available. We have better recall. 70% of the retention versus 20% when delivered in written format.
More persuasive, so you have more sensors to engage. So you're visual, auditory. They get to know who you are when you're on.
And search engines love video. Did you know that YouTube is owned by Google? Okay, so it's the number one and number three most trafficked websites in the world. What's number two?
Facebook.
Facebook. Correct. As Jeff showed you, it ranks faster. You can be on page one organically in just minutes. What's your record, Jeff, for being on page one in minutes?
Two minutes.
Two minutes. Upload your video. By the time you come in and make a coffee, you're on page one.
They have a long shelf life. So you make a video once and it works for years. So I'm not sure if you can see this here, but this is how to fix your own garbage disposal unit. Can anybody in the front read when that was uploaded?
December 18, 2007.
2007. This was just taken the other day. This is still a number one video and it's been working now for eight years. Would you like an ad that works for eight years? And he probably just filmed it with his little.
Camera.
So you can do training videos, right? So you've got some training sort of videos you want to do. You can have how to videos, which I've spoken about. Customer nurture videos. What does that mean? Customer nurture videos. You want to have a guest give.
Them a little, little bit of information, not a whole lot, so that you can continually. You have a reason to contact them, to just keep them alive in your database.
Great answer. And then instructional videos as well.
So let's have a look at a couple of quick calculations. I'm going to go through these pretty quickly. Now let's go back to our friend Susan Crossing, who had 405. 405,500 views on this video. Now let's say that you're an accountant. Okay? You wanted to get more business as an accountant. Let's say she's an accountant and she put this video out for her accountancy business. Okay, you all got that so far it was Uploaded seven years ago. Anyone work out how many views per year? That is correct. That's 57,929 average views per year over the last seven years.
Weekly. That is 1140 views every single week of that video. 1140. How many people would like to have 1140 new eyeballs this week alone? Right. There's only just two of you.
Anyone else? Would you like 3000 or 4000? How about just two extra people? Let's say that although there are 160 people a day is watching that video now, I rang her up and I said, how many times are those views? Are you actually watching it? She said, well, I'm watching most of it, but I want to get my view count up. No, not really.
Just cheating.
So let's have a look at some figures about that video. What if only 10% of those views went to her website? Okay, let's just say 10% of those people, 16 people a day, would go to their website. How many people like 16 more people go to your website every day? Right. For something you did seven years ago. Seven years ago, and you're still getting new people to your website every day. What if only 10% of those people became a customer? How much is the average. What's the average value of an accounting client? How much does an average person pay to see their accountant every year?
2,500. Wow. Let's say. Okay, anyone else a higher, lower 500? 500? Okay, let's say, you know, let's just go to 100. Let's make $100. Right? That's pretty much three customers in every two days.
What's that, 10% customers?
Well, that's every two days. So it's 1.6. So it'd be 1.6 per day, which I'm just going to say three. Three every two days. This is just. This is simple math. Okay, but.
How many people want three new. Would like three new customers every two days?
Right.
Just for Danny. If this was just an accountant and they only made $100 per visit, they're going to start paying for their video. They made a big better video than her. Can you start to see how powerful this stuff can be? Yes.
Just checking.
Everyone's looking at me blankly saying, hello.
The wheels are turning.
Good. I like the wheels. So that's more than nine new customers every week. So basically, it's like adding a staff, except that they work 24.
7.
You've got a consistent message. Paper planes. A consistent message. Looking at all these planes, they all look pretty consistent. That was the message that we wanted to get out to everybody here to make a plane was consistency. So it's a consistent message. They never take no finance. I think people want stuff like that.
People aren't really upset today. Always show you in your best light depending on how you get production done. So here's a quick summary of what we've just been through today. The impact of video on your bottom line. When you do it right, you have to. You only don't need as many videos, you don't need to create as many. It's like having a staff member that is not on payroll. You can repurpose on many platforms.
Decrease the sales cycle so you can get to customers yet.
Yes.
Faster and messages always consistent and accurate. Is there one more? Yes. Customers would rather watch videos. Is that message clear today? All right, I think we're a new increase in SEO engine optimization. 64 times 640%.
Pretty cool. All right, so we're going to open up to Q and A. Jeff, I might bring you back down here if you've got any questions about video or anything like that. Let's just have a quick open discussion about. You've probably got a few things churning over and thinking what could I do? Or how do I do stuff? Let's open up and find out what you're thinking.
Yeah, a lot of people have a short attention span. So what do you think that videos.
Great question.
Oh, you want me to answer? Yeah, it depends on what your video is doing. Is it. Is it getting their attention or are they searching for that answer? If they're searching for that answer, it depends on, I want to say the degree of the business. That's the example. If I'm looking for how to get my dog to ride with me on my bike or ride my bike with my dog, I might get involved for like a five or seven minute video. But if all of a sudden you're trying to get my attention to take action now, you're looking at a shorter time period because now you're. I'm going to use the word interruption. You're interrupting my day to day. But if I'm searching for an answer, I want to know that my accountant is the best and his message. I'm going to listen to it all to make sure it's right. That's why so many people listen to that video, because they were searching for an answer. She wasn't interrupting them with that video. Does that make sense? So it is a little bit different if you're interrupting somebody short period of time. Get your message out there, get in, get out. That's why commercials are 30 seconds and getting short that way. Okay.
Oh, I'm sorry. I was gonna say then based on that, you might consider the videos you put on your website would be that shorter version versus those that you put on YouTube would be the longer version. Because basically people that go to YouTube are searching and if you, they go to your website to see hours and whatever you might just have happen upon a video, you just want a quick.
Snippet, is that possibly you might have it on your front page. It's a little snippet about your business. But then when you, let's say you put blog posts out there, I think you should combine with both of them. Take that same YouTube video, so you get the search engine optimization and put it in your blog post, do a little write up and then put your video there. Because again, what would you rather do? Read a long post or watch a video? Watch your video. But there might be people out there say I'd like to read about it first. So now you talk to both of them. And because your video is on YouTube and it's on Google plus, it's also on your website. So it's all driving traffic back to your website. And quite frankly, Andrew, you have a statement. Never what? Build on.
Never build on rented land. So YouTube is not. You don't own YouTube. All right? So you put videos out on YouTube. If YouTube went out of business or they blocked your account or discontinued your channel, then where does that video go? You're relying on them to service your product. So always put it on your own website first. Well, put it up on YouTube but have it on your own website. Now just to add to that, yesterday we had a client who was same sort of thing that had a video blog post. It was a big blog post about something, how to do something specific. But a video really enhanced that article. So they created a video. Now the video went for six and a half minutes, but people watched the video because it was exactly what they were looking for. But when they're just landing on your own page and they who's this business? They don't want to see six minutes of talking about you, you, you. So give us quick, what is it? Give us excitement, catch our attention. And then when I'm looking at the rest of your stuff, I'm interested in.
What I can shoot question back here first. Yes, ma'. Am.
Every industry is a little different. As an example, let's use that real estate as an example. When real estate Agents use video to sell their houses or sell their properties. It's a 430% increase. And they'll click through you versus somebody who doesn't. So I mean that's a huge increase. If it's, if I'm learning how to, you know, file my taxes properly on what's it, what's the legal Turbo Boost or TurboTax maybe that's gonna get my attention. It's only a 2 minute, 2 minute type of thing this time of year. Lots of people are doing that six weeks from now. It drops way off. So it does vary. It depends on your clientele and your business niche. As an example, if you're saying, hey, I'm looking for people that need my services in the Coachella Valley, let's say there's, there's 10,000 have been identified. Right. But globally maybe Amy's business is 2 million. So it might be different. But I think you have to look at what is your customer looking for, you know, your ideal customer. What's looking for, you know, how to save money on razors. Right. They've done a great job with that. Does that, does that make sense?
Yes.
Okay, I want to go back a little bit. Just before you were saying that you mentioned putting the video on YouTube and you mentioned it on your website.
Yes.
So I'm getting ready to do that. I really don't know what to do.
Okay.
So my question is how important, how different, what do I run into? What's the advantage?
The advantage? Well, the thing is you're going to have traffic for your topic on YouTube. So you've got a great search engine. Anyone searching on Google, Google going to show YouTube videos as a result in Google looking for you. But if somebody comes to your website because you're at a networking event or whatever it is and they go to your site because they haven't looked at YouTube, they haven't looked at Google, but they come in because your business card says go to my website. They're going to see that video on your website. Now if you house it on, if you house it, basically upload it to YouTube, they give you a little code, piece of code that you can just paste into your website and it's there. As long as it's still on YouTube, it's there. But the thing is, what I'm saying about building your house on rented land is if you just relied on YouTube to drive traffic, you're missing out on the people that are coming to your.
Website from better officers. Putting the code on my website where they click on that.
It goes right. And the other part of it, without getting too technical, is that videos take up a lot of memory. If you put the actual video from your phone or your camera into your website, when somebody comes to your website, it has to load the page up and it has to pull the video up from your website, which drags it down. And people these days, if your website doesn't load within, I think it's 1.2 seconds now, people are out the door because I asked too hard. It doesn't work. But what you're doing with YouTube is loading your page, but it's getting YouTube servers, which are a lot bigger than you'll ever have, delivering that video at the same time. So your page loads instantly. Make sense?
Yeah. Cool.
I'm curious to know if there's a way to utilize these tools to target a specific market like Coachella Valley. Because it's all great to be out there, but in my business.
Yes.
So you can chuck your spin on it, but with video. Okay. So you can put out video. Let's say that you're looking for photography for people and pets in Coachella Valley. You may put that in the title because you're not interested in anyone in Memphis, because it's too far for you to go and do right. But. So you're putting Coachella Valley. If people are searching for photographers, Coachella Valley, not only are they going to get results in Google, but they're going to get your video popping up because you've got the word or the area that you want to put in there. The other thing is you can put these ads on Facebook, for instance, and you can run targeted ads to people in Coachella Valley who are on Facebook. So when they looking through their Facebook news feed, they're going to see.
And video ads are really working well on Facebook. But your little video about your business on Facebook served to people in Coachella Valley won't cost you a lot of money. And it'll be very, very targeted. In fact, you can target not just Coachella Valley. You can target age groups, what they like, what they eat at dinner, what restaurants they like to go to here.
So in particular, if you're writing, for instance, a law, it's really important to use words that are pertinent to the area. So that's how it is pulled out.
If you've got a physical business, like that physical service business where you can't go in the rest of the world. Yes.
If I could hit you. What we do is, as an example, let's say, for instance, we have one client is called Vision Roof Services and we have several. But this is one that kind of pops out. When we first started them, we created two different videos and we branded them for every city in the Coachella Valley. So now somebody says, well, I need, I need roofing services in Palm Springs. First page, Coachella, first page, whatever. First page. But then they said, you know what, now it's rocking and rolling here. Our business. We wanted the same thing in Orange County. I think Orange county has like, wow, that's really big. So we went back and we, we re edited the title of the video and the tag words, same video and set it for Orange, Irvine, on and on and on. And they're on the first page of all those.
Right.
So that's how we do that to get them right there. Because if you just put it on there, there's no, there's no, there's no identifying, hey, this is complete what you're going for. Because let's face it, some of us say, you know, that city is not going to yield my highest. More ideal client. Really. Maybe it's more Palm Desert and Palm Springs or it could be Cathedral City. Make sure you put that in the title and also the description and the tags. The tags at least identifying words that research words.
I'm going to talk to more because we.
Is there an opportunity to monetize the video to reach audiences that are beyond the trading area that you're interested in?
Yes. You can do the same thing where as an example, you can take, instead of actually taking your ad or your video and doing what we just talked about, you can find like video hosts in the areas you want to go to. And we've all seen that where there's a little snippet that runs before the video plays and we decide to click in or click out. Those are very effective, believe it or not. But you need to get your message in there in the first three to five seconds. And if you can do that, those are incredibly inexpensive ways to reach market that say I want to go to that market and I know this guy here has 800 views. Why wouldn't I put it there? I don't want somebody has a hundred views because they're on the back street where we don't ever go. But if somebody has, let's say at least you have a video out there and it's really trending. Well, I can say I want to be on your video in that opening snippet. Wow, that's hacking her traffic. See, they're coming to that video because of you. But I expose them to me. Does that make sense?
Yep. I know what you're about to ask. How do you do that? You are going to have a video out there. Now you own the video. Okay, let's say I own that video, that you want to put your ad on my video. And I say to YouTube, yes, I am happy to run ads on my video.
I'm ready to make money from it. So every time my video plays, there's an ad that's put on the front of my video. Now you, as the person who's running that ad will pay YouTube per click. Okay? So every time someone clicks on it might be a dollar, might be 50 cents. Depends on.
Tell YouTube to play before your video, right?
So you say yes, I want it. I want on this video, I want it on this domain, I want it on this topic, I want it on this keyword. Anyone typing in the words medicare or healthcare or this word, this word and any of those videos, I want it to play in front of there.
Can I give you an example? The NFL runs ads about prostate cancer, right? We're the only ones in the world doing prostate cancer in Malaysia.
And they put ads on your video.
We would.
It's their video. I want my ad.
So you put your ad on there. As long as the NFL have said yes, we're open to having ads on our, on us, on our videos.
I have to go to the NFL first.
No, no, no, no. You don't have to go to the NFL. You just have to make sure that that ad is taking, that video is accepting ads.
I'm sorry. When we upload videos to YouTube, it asks us do we, we want to monetize our video. Oh, got it. If I take yes, I just want the world to start kicking, backing out my traffic. But if I say no, like I wouldn't put ads for our customers, we say no because it's about them. But if we're advertising our business, you.
Know what a competitor's ad on your.
Videos to walk through? Like the guy with the tie example.
Yes.
What is he earning from this? This he's earning money because he was putting advertise.
So who would be somebody, who would be somebody that would want to put their ad on a Thai video? Someone telling Thais, right? So let's say tie rack, right? The tie rack says, you know what, I want to go and find all the Thai videos out there. Other yet there's a million 978,000. Let's go and Pick the best ones and ones that say yes, they want to advertise. Because Joe Schmuck, who's showing you how to tie a tie, knows that, hey, I can get lots of views. He doesn't care. He's thinking, I don't care if you're watching how I tie a tie, I just want the cash. I'm going to do 10 videos of how to tie a tie. I just want the cash. So really, he probably is not helping you, although you are getting value from because you're watching the video. But then the tie rack comes up and says, oh, we've got a brand new box set of ties like, oh, I'm looking for. That.
Makes sense.
Yeah. I mean, I'm thinking for the people listening who might want.
Correct.
Ride a bike.
Exactly. Yeah. How to ride a bike. Put your dog in the bathroom. One more.
When we're watching the YouTube, in the beginning there's an ad and then after so many seconds you have the option to get rid of it. Are those the advertisers?
Yeah, they're advertising. There's a couple of ways to do YouTube ads. There's that thing that takes up the whole screen and you can't get rid of it until it says skip. All these little bar ads down the bottom which just pop up and they're banners and more annoying than anything, they still work. What other ways? Is it any other.
You can do pre roll or post roll, so at the end it will show up. So if you have a very entertaining video and you say, hey, it looks like there's 80% of people go to completion, you might put it at the end. They're finding that the beginning is the best. But I should say, and you need to make sure in that first three to five seconds you've given them your message. You can't, you can't say, well, I've got to build up in the last 30 seconds or three minutes it's gonna, it's too late. Wasted your time and money. But you won't get paid unless you. If you click that and say, I just skipped this ad, it doesn't cost us anything. I think it's now five seconds. You have to go at least five seconds and then it starts saying, okay, now you're charged for that and it's very expensive and sometimes you pay by a pen. Get close.
Is that the pay per click?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When it says skip. Yeah, I always skip.
If you skip. I normally always skip. Yesterday I sort of actually found myself watching an ad. I'm like, oh, what am I doing? But I'm gonna watch it because it was really good. It grabbed my attention. I'm like, this is good. Sorry.
All right.
Anything else?
Oh, and here's what we do. This is our nurturing information. We have a product called Tool Time Tip Tuesdays. And every Tuesday, we put out a little video about all the things that we sometimes get exposed to on the Internet. Like how to put a Facebook ad out. What is Survey Monkey? That type of thing. There are about three or four minutes, and all you have to do is text the word sunrise into 96,000. That's how we nurture our clients. You're our clients. There is no selling on it whatsoever. It's a way we stay in touch. When they come once a week, they open up, they plan any device, and then you say, oh, I didn't know that about Hootsuite. It makes my life easier. I didn't know that about, like. We discovered what not discovered. We decided to take a dive into it. Trello. Anybody ever worked with Trello? Wow. Game changer. And guess what? Free. Free. So a lot of things we talk about are free. And if you're interested in that, please text the word sunrise to 96,000. And all the stuff we have set up in the background will work automatically and it will get you on our list. And again, we're. Or our relationships, you know a little bit more about us than what you have today.
Before we go. We do normally give you handouts at the start so you can take notes, but somehow they weren't given out. So I'm going to turn this into an exam.
So I hand these out, but there's also some information for evidence on the back.
Did you guys have fun today? Did you get a little nugget or two out of today? Yeah. How do I be a client? Do I find somebody that needs that help?
Thank you all for coming. Give yourself a hand.
