The Local Voice is a show dedicated to sifting through the noise and sharing practical steps to help you achieve your goals. Welcome to another episode of the Local Voice, hosted by Jeff Harrison, a practitioner in the world of digital marketing. Get ready to take some notes. Let's begin.
Hey. Welcome to another episode of the Local Voice. I'm Jeff Harrison, your host. I want to talk a little bit today about artificial intelligence. I know we've all heard artificial intelligence tell we're kind of blue in the face, but, you know, it's one of those things. It's not going away. It's only going to get more prevalent and there's, there's a thought process out there that said, you know, there'll be those people who refuse to use artificial intelligence and those who use artificial intelligence and run the world. Yeah, I don't know who said that. Maybe you can quote me on it. I don't know. The point is you should be using it. And I don't want to. I hate saying should, but I would encourage you to look at how to use that. I'm going to use today's few minutes to talk about some things that I've come across and that we're implementing for our customers that you as a local business can also leverage to help you run your business and attract more of your ideal customers. Because I think at the end of the day, that's the bottom line. Your business is successful if you have enough opportunities to get in front of your ideal customer to say your product, your service, is the one they should invest in. So let's talk about a couple of these. The first One, obviously is ChatGPT. You know, this is open source AI. This means, hey, you can log in@OpenAI.com and you can create an account and you can start putting things in there. Now, when I say putting things in there, they're called prompts. But I want you to think of them as great questions because here's the thing, here's what we've learned over the last. I GUESS it's been 12 to 14 months, maybe more like 18 months, as we have implemented artificial intelligence in many areas prior to ChatGPT GT GPT coming out. And we find the better we ask. It's like garbage in Garbage out. When our questions are better, more descriptive, we get better responses. Now let me give an example. Let's say you are a local heating and air conditioning company. You could put into ChatGPT, give me 10 titles to articles that I could write that would help me attract more customers and in seconds, yes, in seconds it would spit out a list. Or you could say.
You are a world class copywriter. You focus on creating content that is engaging and helps local businesses attract their ideal customer and convert them into customers. I want you to write an article between 750 and 1000 words to my ideal customer, which are homeowners living in the Coachella Valley in Southern California and they typically will be in the ages between 40 and 60. And we want to make sure we write this article in, in a, in a way where it's a problem agitate solutions called pas problem agitate solution format with a call to action that they will call or have a.
A number at the bottom. My number 760-00000000. Do you understand? If you understand, please type yes. You see the difference in the, in the depth of that, right? 10, 10 articles title articles. To write an article for these people in this environment with this call to action for this company, that will produce a much, much better result. So when you're using ChatGPT, think about certain things and you can, you can really process this. You can make it a system and say, first of all, when I turn chatgpt on who do I want it to be? And you may have heard of this before, but when we first started we'd say, okay, I want you to take on the mind of. And then we would tell them who they were going to, they were, they were writing for. We might use somebody like a person named Neil Patel who is great at SEO and lead generation, that type of thing. So they would, it would take on that mind. Now so many people say, how does it take on that mind? Well, one of the things about it is Neil Patel has created tremendous amounts of information. It's all available on the Internet. And so as soon as you say that, it goes to work and says, oh, okay, let me just see what Neil Patel says and his style and his tonality and his depth of knowledge. Okay, got it. You can do that. It's pretty slick because the first time I did it where I said I wanted to write like me, I fed it several pieces of information or content for that I had written into Chat GPT and then when I asked it to write for me in my Style. It was eerie that it was spot on. All right, so first of all, you want to talk about, hey, who do you want it to be? You notice I said a world class copywriter that specializes in article writing that attracts an ideal customer for a local business and converts them into customers, right? So when it's writing, it's already thinking, hey, I'm a world class writer, right? The next thing you want to do is say, who's my ideal customer? Because just recently we were talking to a client and they said, okay, their ideal customer, between 30 and 40 years old. Well, when that happens, it's a different language than somebody who is 60 years old or somebody who's 20 years old. Because those first few words will either make or break the opportunity to build rapport with your ideal audience. So you want to tell them who you're writing for. Homeowners in the Coachella Valley, typically that own their own home, it's three bedroom, two bath. You know, they're parents of small children in grade school and junior high. See that, that opens up a lot of doors for understanding your ideal audience much better. Because you've got school activities, you got after school, you got all the things that are going on. Well, ChatGPT knows this. You just have to tell it who its ideal audience is. Then you have an opportunity to talk to it about, well, what type of writing do you want it to write? Like in this case, I said problem, agitate, solution. Okay, so, hey, have you ever woken up in the middle of the night and you smelled something funny and it was coming out of your registers in your furnace while the air was warm, it had a funny smell, and you thought, wow, is my heating and air conditioning on fire? See, that is a problem because you've woken up in the middle of the night and you're not sure what's going on. You just smell something funny and all of a sudden your mind starts processing like, oh, is this a fire in my house? So that's a problem. Now you agitate it. So you got out of bed and you went to the other rooms in your house and you smelled the same thing coming out of it. Now you're concerned because is your heating and air conditioning on fire? So you go down the hall and you turn off the heating air conditioning because you don't want your home to burn down. See, now you're agitating it. Now you talk about a solution and then you provide a solution. You know, you went to the kitchen, you got the flashlight, you went outside and you inspected your heating air conditioning unit which is mounted outside on the ground. You notice there was nothing burning. But you did notice something unusual. And now you, you know, hey, you notice it that there was a nest in the bottom of your heating air conditioning unit and it looked like a rodent had gotten in there. And that was starting to put off a funny odor which was being sucked into your system and coming through your vents. That's why the air in your vents were warm. You know, it was the right temperature, but it had a funny odor. Didn't smell like a smoke. But yet it made you think, oh, is my house on fire? See, now it's problem, agitate, solution. And then you come back and say, okay, now what's the one thing you should do? Well, we're right now at the time, we should have a change of seasons. And the best thing you can do is have consistent maintenance done on your system, not only to keep it running well, but also adding life to its, to its years of use. Right now is a great time. And now you just go through the process. So the idea is, the more you give artificial intelligence as far as what, who they are, who they're looking for, what type of writing style, what's the call to action, Give them the name of your company and the phone number or an email, whatever you want them to do as far as the call to action is, and then ask them to write that article. The other thing I did in there is I asked them to write it a certain length. Right. With this, I'm going to point out that sometimes your.
Writing artificial intelligence right now does what we call hallucinations. So it's important if you're using artificial intelligence that you do what we call aio. And I've gotten this from a client called, her name is Julie. And this is artificial intelligence optimized. And what this means is like on our staff, with every one of our clients, we may start out using artificial intelligence and then we polish it, if you will. Whether it's a social media post, it's an email, it's an article, it's a video, whatever it is, we polish it with a human and we look for these hallucinations or things that aren't correct. It might be one of those things where it is suggesting a reference to something that doesn't exist. It's doing such a great job at creating the content that it's making you and I believe, oh, this must be real, where it truly is an hallucination. That's why you always want to go back and say, polish it with a human being. So this is just one thing. You can do that if you do it correctly. The Chat GPT can create articles, it can create social media posts, it can create scripts for the videos, it can do a lot of things for you from that one platform. Now they have different levels, they have what they call their free version and it will do everything that I said will happen. And then you can, you can pay $20 a month for the version they have at the time of this recording and you can get something that's faster. Not only is it faster chat GTP GPT 4.5 Turbo, but you have an opportunity. It can create images for you. So now how cool is this? It writes the article and now you say, I'd like you to create two image prompts that we could use that would be ideal to support this article. Please write them now. Now we've done this several times, many times, I should say. And the quality of the prompt is outstanding because what is it doing? It's learning the value or the learning the content in the article. You just had it right? And that you've optimized and you've given it back to Chat GPT and asked for it to make a image prompt for two images that would support that article that you would now put on your blog post. Or maybe it's a, you know, you could do this for a thumbnail, you could do it for social media posts, whatever you want to do. And then what'll happen in the paid version it uses Dolly3 and that is D A L L E3 3 and this is a, an image generating artificial intelligence piece that's part of open source AI. And then you feed it in there and it will, it will give you some examples and you choose do you want that? Then you can simply download it now you have your article written or whatever content plus that information as far as the, the image is concerned. Now before I let you go, there's one other thing, actually two of the things that are really helpful and it goes like this. You've written the article, but just like you've written a book, what's the most important thing for someone to stop scrolling or in the search or if you're in a, if you're in a bookstore, what's the one thing that stops and gets your attention? The title of the book. So now why wouldn't you ask ChatGPT based on the article and the fact that you know who my ideal customer is and what we would like them to do, which is to take action and Read this article. Give me five examples of your best title for this article. There you go. There's five articles, there's five titles, right. The other thing you might want to do is say, well, what about my keywords? Do I need to put any SEO in this? Like when I post it on my website, do I need to add keywords to that? Just ask it to make keywords for the article you've just written. What. What primary keyword do I need to have that I post in my SEO for my website and it will produce all of that. This process, once you get it down, might take you 10 to 15 minutes, and then it might take you another 30 minutes to actually redo the article. In other words, do that artificial intelligent, optimize the human that gets in there and shines it up. Now, what does that. Some people might say, well, big deal. Okay, so it's still going to take me a half an hour to maybe an hour to get this all done. Well, let me flip the switch and give you something to compare that with. We've been doing content creation now for over 12 years for local businesses in the Coachella Valley, in Southern California, other parts of the country. And typically it would take our human writers to research the topic, to write the article, produce a draft, send it over, get it approved. It would take anywhere from two to four days. Two to four days. Now, we can produce an article and optimize it. In other words, shine it up with a human. And we can do that in an hour. If you're using artificial intelligence and I'm not, I can probably create an article, let's say once every three days. You can create an article once every hour. So if, if I'm trying to compete with you and content is being researched online and your content is going out, let's just say you do three for every one that I do. Every time something goes out, Google looks at it and says, wow, do they have authority in their marketplace? They're writing a lot about xyz. They're also adding in the human element. So it's covering that thing. And you might want to look this up. I've got another article that I've talked about or another episode I've talked about. It's called Eat E E A T. And this is the expertise and experience that the article displays. So if you have a human piece in there where you say, when I was out at Mrs. Jones house, this is what we did in X, Y and Z that shows a human experience and expertise, and Google picks up on that. Well, now if you do that and you're doing three to my one in a very short period of time, I'm so far behind you, you can't even see me and I can't even see you. My point being this. This is what we're doing for our customers. When we do this, we help our customers outpace their competition to the point they can't even see them anymore. When we first started doing this, worked with a company called Preferred, and it was in the Coachella Valley. It was out in Coachella. And we first started doing this, they didn't have much of a social presence. We helped them develop this process. Now, at this time, we were actually writing only human written content, social media, videos, the whole thing. But his competitors were not doing any of this stuff in no time at all. And I'm going to say in three to four months, his competition were no longer in the game. And nine months later, because of his presence online, someone reached out to him from a much larger organization, said, hey, I'd like to buy your company. And when he said, how did you find out about me? He says, because your digital footprint, he ended up selling his business and doing quite well. My point is you can make an impact in a very short period of time. And if you know how to do it now that we have artificial intelligence and it does it so much faster, you can do it faster. If you'd like to know more about this, reach out to me. My name is Jeff Harrison and it's jeffingpointmedia.com. just ask a question. Hey, you know, how do you do this? What do you. What, what are you using? I've got something in my next. My next episode I want to share with you that I'm super, super excited about because it's taking this artificial intelligence and it's like putting. It's like putting it into a rocket ship. It's like going SpaceX. It's going to. It's going to even dwarf those people who said, oh, yeah, Jeff, I jumped in. I started using artificial intelligence and I'm doing three episodes or three articles a week when you should do one a month. I'm telling you, what I'm about to unleash or launch will allow you to do a lot more with very little effort. Well, thanks for joining me again. My name is Jeff Harrison. This is a local voice.
